EX-CELTIC SKIPPER GETS WOLVES JOB

FORMER Celtic skipper Paul Lambert has been named new Head Coach of Wolves – as CQN predicted eight days ago.

The ex-Livingston, Wycombe, Colchester, Norwich City and Aston Villa boss has been out of work since quitting Blackburn Rovers at the end of last season.

But he has returned to the Championship to take over the struggling Midlands side who are 19th in the division and who lost 3-2 to Derby County at Molineux yesterday.

Wolves sacked Walter Zenga, who only took over the job in the summer, at the end of last month.

Lambert, 47, will be joined by Stuart Taylor, who will work alongside existing first team coach Rob Edwards, to support the former Scotland international midfielder.

“We are delighted that Paul has agreed to become our new Head Coach,” said main director Jeff Shi on the club’s official website.

“He arrives at Wolves with extensive managing experience at different levels, in recent years in the Premier League and the Championship.

“Myself and Kevin (Thelwell) have spent many hours with Paul during the lengthy interview process and have been very impressed with his thoughts on football and his vision for Wolves.

“Ourselves and Paul share the same vision and the same mission, to achieve promotion from the Championship as soon as possible and then aim for a higher goal in the Premier League.”
