EX-CELTIC WONDERKID GETS BOOT

FORMER Celtic wonderkid Islam Feruz has been given the boot by Chelsea – four months BEFORE his contract was due to expire.

The 23-year-old forward, who walked out on the Hoops for Stamford Bridge in 2011, was axed after failing to make a solitary first-team appearance in EIGHT years at the London outfit..

Feruz was once compared to Brazilian legend Romario by former SFA performance director Mark Wotte after his stunning displays for the Scotland Under-21s.

\But the youngster appeared to lose his way following off-field troubles and several dismal loan spells.

The Somalia-born player, who was brought up in Glasgow, tried to win a deal with Belgian amateur outfit RFC Seraing in January, but was out of luck.

Feruz played just 16 minutes for Blackpool during a disastrous 2015 loan move which saw him return to London.

During his new side’s 4-0 defeat to Brentford, he tweeted: “This team take more kick-offs than corners.”

That seemed to be the story of Feruz’s ill-fated career so far that has also included a loan spell with Hibs that also failed to ignite his skills.

Now he is on the look-out for a new club – an astonishing turn of events for a youngster who appeared to have it all.
