EX-IBROX BOSS EYES HOOPS TARGET

FORMER Ibrox boss Mark Warburton has failed in bid for former Celtic target Scott McKenna, the Scotland international defender who is rated at a whopping £10million by Aberdeen.

The Queens Park Rangers gaffer, who took over the Championship outfit near the end of the season, made an offer – believed to be in the £3million range – for the 22-year-old back-four performer, but it was immediately knocked back by the Pittodrie outfit.

Brendan Rodgers was similarly treated last summer with a £3.5million submission for the player who still has four years to run on his contract at Derek McInnes’ side.

Nottingham Forest, another of Warburton’s former clubs, also failed in a weekend move for McKenna, according to a report in the Sunday Mail.

Hull City are long-term admirers of the 12 times-capped powerhouse centre-half and are said to be weighing up a renewed proposal, but English clubs will have to work fast before their transfer deadline a week on Thursday.

The Scottish deadline is September 2, but with the Hoops dropping interest following the £7million arrival of Christopher Jullien from Toulouse, the Dons won’t be receiving any bids from the Premiership.
