Ex-ref taunts Neil Lennon with ‘explodes’ remark

1244

I think I live in a different world than some people.  In my world the manager of Celtic has endured an incredibly stressful month.  Yesterday he would have dealt with news from a serious criminal trial after a bomb was sent to him.

Today he is being taunted in a newspaper by a former referee who suggests he “explodes at the side of a park”.  Even for a former SFA official, this is astonishingly poor taste.  The article goes on to betray enormous hostility towards Neil Lennon and, for reasons which appear opportunistic, Peter Lawwell.

Our manager will get through these difficult weeks and will hopefully never have to endure such stresses again.  SFA officials, current or past, cannot meaningfully lay a glove on him.  He can pay their fines and will continue to manage a winning Celtic team.

To add to Paul’s response the rules say a licence “may” be withdrawn.

What we are seeing here with yesterday’s postponement is an organisation that only apply the rules when it suits them.

One law for them and another for us.

The SFA do not want to pull the plug on Rangers which is what withdrawing a licence would do.

They see that as something HMRC will do for them.

  5. Its very predictable that as the HMS Ranglers is slowly sinking there would be a vicious backlash and Neil Lennon is their hated scapegoat.

We just support him and the Celtic even stronger and celebrate the championship even louder.

  6. Celtic legends v man utd raised £300,000 for Oxfams East Africa appeal.

  8. Can someone please help my addled brain with the arithmetic. Is it correct that Rangers have to lose tomorrow for us to have the opportunity to win the title on Sunday. A draw’s not enough?

Alex Thomson made the same point in his interview with Regan.

You have to ask what is the point of having lawmakers who then refuse to uphold their own laws.

  10. Kenny Clark is a lawyer and every word he has written is premeditated hatred towards Neil Lennon. Lennon is despised by people like Clark as he is an Irish Catholic managing Celtic and that is too much to stomach. Iain KIng is the Sports Editor at the Sun and a well known Hun and he is providing the platform for people like Clark to launch their attacks. As the Huns head towards liquidation the attacks will intensify. They are hurting so much that they direct their bitterness and hatred towards Lenny. It is inciteful with people on trial for sending bombs, street attacks, Tynecastle attack and 50,000 Huns on a regular basis singing we fn hate Neil Lennon.

It only a matter of time before there is another attack on Lenny or his family by the knuckle draggers. People like Iain King, Kenny Clark , Leckie, Traynor, Keevins, Dalziel have been inflaming the hatred towards the Celtic Manager knowing what the consequences will be.

The situation is so serious that the Celtic Board must come out and defend our manager from these attacks and force Alex Salmond to take leadership on the bigotry being rained down on the Celtic Manager.

  11. Paul67,

This hostility towards Neil is endemic in Scottish society – he has become the focus for hatred for so many…. and they fail to see that it is showing up their own racist/bigoted/baised views generally… whether it be towards Ireland, Catholicism, Celtic, etc…

The taunting is not going to stop… ever. The more aggressive this becomes (and its hard to believe it can get worse, but I thought that some time back), the more support will be required from the Celtic community. I think we’re all up for that

Until the title is securely in the bag, we should forget any talk of bhoycotts. The way they’ve been playing since the game at Pittodrie, they will need the maximum encouragement to get over the line and hand Neil his first championship.

After that the various bodies who make up the bulk of the away support, in consultation with the club, should get together and formulate a strategy for any bhoycotts.

All supporters are entitled to an opinion on this subject, but it’s the fans who travel regularly who must decide whether they will implement a successful bhoycott and vote with their feet.

Like many on here, I very rarely attend away games, so I do not feel I have a mandate to tell the travelling support to stand down. Ultimately, after hearing all the arguments, it’s their decision.

Looking forward to a packed CP on Sunday, with 60,000 fans showing the world that we’re fully behind Neil Francis Lennon.

  13. As far as I am understand it, if they don’t produce audited accounts – for the last full financial year – by Close Of Business today, then they cannot be granted a licence for next year by the written rules of the SFA.

I am happy to be corrected if my interpretation of the rules differs from yours.

But then the SFA are too busy to attend to the huns sectarian singing, or the huns illegal registration of players, or the huns bringing the game into disrepute, no it appears to me the SFA are too busy following their own bigoted, racist and sectarian agenda in pursuit of the Celtic Manager to apply the rule book – to the letter – against the huns.

In my opinion there is no more bigoted society in Scotland than the SFA, thought the media, the justice system and the police are not too far behind.

That is not a country any more, it is just a squelching swamp-mire of bigotry.

The other teams supporters must realise that they are asworthless as us, we all exist only as props to the huns. How sad our existence.

Well it bloody well is if you are prepared to sit back and – in comfortable apathy – do the sum total of hee-haw.

Lobby your MP, seek guidance from the CSA, from Celtic Park. Do something, even boycott.

  14. IMO the Press in this Country want Neil dead!

They (with a few exceptions) are complete and utter scum!

In MY world Mr Desmond himself reads a statement which says ‘I have listened and watched long enough. I have now decided that we at Celtic FC are going to go through the highest legal channels against the Scottish Football Association and certain sections of the media and sue your sorry asses for the slander and libelous comments which have affected our manager and our club as a whole. I will personally be funding this, so, GIRUPYEES’.

Mrs Sombrero is always telling me my glass is half empty…..but I can’t help feeling the Channel 4 article will be pullled later. Methinks we’re in for a huge let down after days of expectation.

I hope not. Sky plus set to record.

  18. Do you remember at the start of the bomb threats to Neil ,Paul and

Trish? Do you remember the total condemnation from the national

press? naw ? neither do I.

  19. Auld Neil Lennon heid @ 10:09,

I didn’t think there was anything sinister about Thomson’s “hope, not promise” tweet re tonights C4 news. I took it to be a reminder that, like any news report, it could be supplanted by a bigger story depending on today’s events.

  20. Just for info – in case anyone is unaware. Kenny Clark is not a hun – he is a hearts fan. Mate of mine has a recording on his phone of Clark and his linesmen singing ‘We all hate hibs’ after a hibernian game.

  21. Shieldmuir Celtic on

Is this the Kenny Clark who ‘bottled’ the decision to give a penalty to Celtic at Ibrox when Neil Lennon was clearly tripped in the box. It was in slow motion as Neil was not the fastest player on the park. No video-replay was needed. Just fair-mindedness and courage. Unfortunately both qualities were missing from the referee that day!

  22. So the establishment from top to bottom – so-called journalists, ex players, ex refs, the SFA themselves – all turn on Lenny, like a pack of sad arsed vultures.

To hell with them all. The choice is simple – you’re either with our manager or against him, there is no middle ground. Anyone suggesting he tones it down, as far as i’m concerned they’re against him.

Personally, I’m very proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with Neil Francis Lennon.

Rangers can get a maximum of 78 points by winning all 7 of their remaining games. We are on 75 so 4 points from our games gives us the title.

Any dropped points from Rangers will reduce what we need.

e.g. A Rangers draw means they can only get a max of 76 points so a win will be enough for us.

A Rangers loss means they can get a maximum of 75 points so a draw will suffice for us.
