Ex-ref taunts Neil Lennon with ‘explodes’ remark

1244

I think I live in a different world than some people.  In my world the manager of Celtic has endured an incredibly stressful month.  Yesterday he would have dealt with news from a serious criminal trial after a bomb was sent to him.

Today he is being taunted in a newspaper by a former referee who suggests he “explodes at the side of a park”.  Even for a former SFA official, this is astonishingly poor taste.  The article goes on to betray enormous hostility towards Neil Lennon and, for reasons which appear opportunistic, Peter Lawwell.

Our manager will get through these difficult weeks and will hopefully never have to endure such stresses again.  SFA officials, current or past, cannot meaningfully lay a glove on him.  He can pay their fines and will continue to manage a winning Celtic team.

Do you remember at the start of the bomb threats to Neil ,Paul and

Trish? Do you remember the total condemnation from the national

press? naw ? neither do I.

Even at the time of the bomb threats we were still getting “Do you not think he brings it on himself ?” comments. (Even from some Celtic minded people which caused much hostility on my part on ocassions)

  3. I haven’t seen this morning’s articles by Clark and Nicholas but isn’t the big story in Scotland all about Rangers shenanigans?

Why are they writing about a manager being sent off and what has Lawwell done wrong except successfully run a football team?

There must be a reason why they pick these minor stories to write about and not the really huge one out there. Really odd.

Good point. Already we have heard that a woman in England set herself on fire decanting petrol in the kitchen while her stove was on. With govt advice earlier in the week, this story may take precedence. Who knows what else the day might bring.

  5. whoosh, yo! paul67>hope you are well, no shortage of material these days to keep you busy.(cyber beer and slap on the back)

    Yo! peeps> what gives?

i think we can prepare ourselves for the very worse of the scottish MSM deflecting and denial in the coming weeks of the hvns demise.

Similarly, the focus on all fronts via the MSM of our manager is unfathomable as he stands to lift the league and potential cup double.

Their hatred is borderline obsessive as they fail yet again to get their message across.

To paraphrase a previous social changer…. the war is over….the bloggers have won.

Hats off to the power of the “ourselves alone” attitude of CQN, Phil Mac and RTC,etc and the consequential involvement of serious journos fasted from the succulent lamb we now have the lid off the can of worms.

    They are running scared.

now is the time to bury them.

I posted the Articles of Association and the Finacial Requirements more than a month ago. I asked if I was correct in my interpretation, to date nobody has said otherwise so as far as I am concerned, as it stands, within the SFA rules, they cannot allow Rangers to play in the SPL next season unless they produce audited accounts by COB today.

    Or am I wrong?

Listen to James Richardson’s most recent Guardian Football Weekly podcast make fun of Rangers’ imminent demise.

The podcast panelists all laugh uproariously at the huns when it’s suggested that Rangers fans read Kevin McCarra’s new Celtic book – because they’ll need a new club to support soon.

I finished reading Mc.Carra’s book last week and recommended it as a worthy addition to the Celtic lexicon.

It deals with the history of the club from the beginning to the present, through periods defined by nine significant Celtic people.

It hits the shops on the 6th. April,I think.

Worth buying, even though SFTB is struggling to get through Toy Story……sorry, Tolstoy!

    Here’s to a champagne Sunday.

    Hail! Hail!

  9. Bhoys,

Can I bring your attention to an event taking place in Glasgow on Saturday 7th April.

Paul Larkin is launching his latest Celtic book – Poles ‘n’ Goals and Hesselink in The Admiral Bar on Waterloo Street between 5-8pm. We play Killie at midday so this will be a great post match event for anybody in the City Centre.

There will be a Q&A about the book, a charity raffle, a couple of former players are hoping to attend and The Amadans are providing the music for the second half of the session.

Entry is free and all are welcome so please try and come along if you are in the area.

    Hail Hail

For me the worst was family members with no interest in Celtic but just based on news reports spouted the same nonsense. Suffice to say I wasn’t best pleased and told them on no uncertain terms to ever mention that to me again.

The ignorance of some people is astounding.

  11. Top of the morning to you all from sunny Fife.

I don’t know why we are surprised by the behaviour of ex-referees. They are a pathetic bunch and seem to be split between living in their pompous past with all the perks and power they had (not to mention the brown envelopes) and gifts, and the present where they see their old power base reduced to ashes.

When that old Masonic Lothario Craig Brown was asked what the referees strike was about he answered in two words: Neil Lennon!

The past masters of manipulating results see Neil as their nemesis. He will not just take it on the chin and move on. If Neil sees bad decisions consistently going against Celtic by vindictive referees he will say so. Quite rightly say so. We must support him to the hilt and let him know by verbal and written testimony that we are behind him.

Kenny Clark was the only man in Ibrox who did not see a player (John McStay) being assaulted 5-yards away from where he stood by, of course, a Rangers player, so who would give him any credence when he speaks against our manager. He is a snide, talentless individual who has an eye on his future career as an after-dinner speaker in lodges up and down the country.

Why attack Neil now? It’s called diverting the discourse. There is another big story that they don’t want us to focus on.

One Neil Lennon, there’s only ……………..

  12. kitalba

Sadly as we know only too well, rules can be bent or “misinterpreted”. I hope Celtic have keen legal minds going through their rules and willing to point out any “misinterpretations” that allow for Rangers to go unpunished.

    Mort

  13. Taken from the papers at that time:

Celtic skipper Neil Lennon believes referee Kenny Clark refused to award him a penalty in Sunday’s Old Firm derby at Ibrox in case it sparked crowd trouble.

The Hoops were leading through a wonderful Thomas Gravesen strike when the Northern Irishman was grounded inside the Light Blues’ penalty area by a Steven Smith challenge which looked careless at best and reckless at worst.

Lennon said: “Maybe it was because it was me (involved), I don’t know, maybe he feared starting a riot or something like that. But everyone saw it, it was a stonewaller and if we had been awarded the penalty and scored then we would have gone in 2-0 up at half-time.”

    ===========================================================

So there we have it. In case it sparked crowd trouble? How dare he give a penalty against ra Gers? Especially as it was HIM, who shouldn`t even be in oor country.

    This country stinks

  17. Morning CQN’s

At work so will be brief.

I said yesterday if felt like we were getting attacked from all sides and today’s paper story just sums it up.

The best thing to do is after the killie game stay away from all other away matches for the next year and sit back and watch all the clubs go out of business, to hell with all of them it’s what they deserve!!

Would need all supporters groups and fans in on this but after the last few years I don’t think that would be a problem.

Did you get a review copy or something?

  19. RogueLeader, yes, the bitterness from 2010’s strike is evident.

Aldo, good to hear from you. Aye, no shortage of material these days.

Once CH4 are done with them tonight they will have more to worry about than our manager.
