EX-TARGET’S ENGLISH HELL

FORMER Celtic target John McGinn’s hopes of performing in the top flight with Aston Villa are in jeopardy.

The Scotland international midfielder will be banned after picking up his TENTH booking of the season as the Midlands outfit crashed 2-0 at home to West Brom.

Villa are NINETEEN points behind leaders Norwich City and have now conceded 32 goals in 17 games, the worst defensive record in England’s top four divisions.

McGinn has seen the team he joined in a £2.75million switch from Hibs after snubbing his boyhood idols now win just one of their last nine matches.

The visitors eased to the points with two first-half goals in the space of four minutes from Hal Robson-Kanu and top scorer Jay Rodriguez.

Fourth-placed Albion stay within six points of top spot in the Championship – but Villa are now seven points adrift of the play-off places.

Head Coach Dean Smith said: “We’re making it hard for ourselves.

“The injuries haven’t helped. Now we lose McGinn to suspension, as well.”
