EXCLUSIVE: ‘GOOD LUCK WITH THE JIGSAW,’ BIG YOGI

JOHN ‘YOGI’ HUGHES has been giving his forthright and EXCLUSIVE views to CQN this week as he looks at Celtic in a crucial campaign.

The man who scored 189 goals at the club, has urged manager Neil Lennon to revert to the 3-5-2 system he installed after the turn of the year that helped the Hoops to lift their ninth successive title.

Yogi said: “Yes, I am aware you can talk about any sort of system you wish, but it will mean nothing if you do not have the players to fit the framework.

“It came together after the break when Neil was allowed to play Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths together from January onwards. They clicked and the goals flowed.

“Odsonne and Leigh had a great understanding and they may be different types of goalscorers, but the main thing is they both knew their way to goal.

“I was looking forward to the partnership continuing where it left off this season, but that hasn’t happened for a variety of reasons.

“I don’t know the ins and outs of Leigh missing the three-game trip to France, but there would have been a good reason for him being left at home.

“He came back in a pre-season game against Hibs and was then injured. That has opened the way for Patryk Klimala to get a chance and now the club have spent £5million on bringing in Swiss frontman Albian Ajeti.

“Celtic don’t pay that sort of money for a player to sit on the bench.

“It looks as though Neil wants to go back to two up front, but it’s a question of getting the jigsaw to fit together.

“There’s a long way to go in the season and there is a formation in there somewhere.

“I hope the manager finds it sooner rather than later.

“Good luck with the jigsaw, Neil!”
