Exhilaration lands on hard plastic Rugby Park

333

All of that exhilarating football from Tuesday lands on the hard plastic surface of Rugby Park on Sunday, as Celtic return to the ground which last year cost Brendan Rodgers his 100% trophy record in Scotland, then resulted in an even worse performance and defeat in the league.

This will be Kilmarnock’s first home game since their hilarious win over Newco.  Their three games on the road since then resulted in a win at Tynecastle, and defeats to Ross County and Dundee.

They have not lost at home since August, when St Johnstone thumped them 0-3 as Derek McInnes rested several players before their Conference League trip to Norway.  That record will be tested by the flowing fabulousness of the champions.

For Brendan, this will be a rare occasion when he has a full squad to choose from and no game to worry about for two weeks.  He may choose to leave Cameron Carter-Vickers’ knees on the bench, but otherwise, I expect a full strength team to start, and get the game won early on.

  2. lets all do the huddle on

i think he might put Reo on the bench. he was dead at the end of the game on tuesday after the shift he put in.

    Bernardo will start i think.

and im not sure if there will be the same ‘flowing fabulousness’ as the other night. rugby park isnt really that type of place

  3. Back to reality on the plastic pitch laid bare.

A surface which will take some on here back to the days when once a year ye took the ol’ living room carpet oot the back threw it over the washing line and gave it a sound thrashing.

Speaking of which that is exactly what we did to Kilmarnock last time we went down the ol A77 back in May

  4. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Lots of metres covered midweek.

CCV should certainly drop out but, depending on how confident Brendan is, so might Trusty.

For me, McCowan, Bernardo, Forest and Idah should come in.

ps. in many projects i worked on we included live cameras and links to follow the schedule.

    celtic could do this.

  6. Idah starts this one for me. Rest CCV and possibly play Taylor over Valle due to his experience of the surface. Otherwise the rest pick themselves.

I’ll be slightly apprehensive should I see Ralston, Palma and Yang starting this one.

  7. I’d be inclined to rest NK and CCV on Sunday, mainly due to the plastic pitch, and give them a rest to catch up on their fitness levels.

    But, what do I know

  8. Glasgow City Council has decided to allow Orange marchs to march past St Mary’s and St Alphonse’s Churches during Mass on Sunday this week. Since 2018, when Canon White was assaulted by members of the march, The marches had previously been rerouted away from the churches.

Now GCC says it has no reason or authority to stop the Marches

  9. NK will be buzzing- first name on the team sheet – have a rest in the international break.

Wouldn’t play CCV on that surface

  10. AIPPLE – I thought I’d go out on my bike today and enjoy some sun on my face rather than bagging another podium :) Now back in the basement cleaning and servicing bikes for the weekend.

Idah’s best game for us was probably at Rugby Park last season. He absolutely bossed that game.

Combination of breathtaking arrogance and ignorance from another “two for a pound !” yap merchant.

Any halfwit who can Google “EPL Table 23/24”, can read the names of football teams, and can also count up to six? ….

… will clearly understand why Chelsea are in the Europa Conference League.

  14. Imagine the deflation after recent events if we dropped anything at Kilmarnock – so it’s full strength for me i.e. Aberdeen, or, Leipzig starters, and change when we get a grip of the game.

    Brendan will know! 💥🫰

    Plastic pitch ruins the game

It’s hard trying to play football on the pitch

I expect a rough and tumble game

Next few weeks we have a run the Huns could not deal with

Kilmarnock Hearts Aberdeen Huns all away

The Huns got I point and scored 1 goal in the same fixtures

I expect us to 12 points

    Still buzzing from Tuesday

  18. Pathetic Orange Marches

FFS, time they were confined to 17th century history. Pathetic really, the 22st century as well.

  19. there is a real poder puff feel goood piece on the evening times websire about Rangers earnings from the europa league.

they earned 150k for the point.

this time next year dessers we will be millionaires.

but seriously the earnings gap between us and them is grand canyon sized.

  20. Celtic can handle the awful surface. We have played on it often enough. Last season we were brilliant and won 5 -0. If we play like that we will win.

I hope Brendan doesn’t make many changes. What about starting the team that finished the game on Tuesday. If Brendan subbed them then he thought they needed a rest. So why not start them on the bench. If Trusty is injured and CCV not being risked then bring in Nawrocki or Welsh.

  21. wonder if abada is sitting in the states wondering what could have been after watching khun grab the headlines this season

And what are the latest rumours of KT making a return?

  22. Watching CCV having a great game on Tuesday night doing the impossible sitting on his backside and still winning possession of the ball despite the attention of a couple opposing players, brilliant. I expect Carter’s dodgy legs will be rested and Scalsey will be in as it will be a regular switch throughout a very long season. Despite what I’ve just been reading here , Liam is a tough Wicklowman and not a Dubliner.

Brendan will probably rest Nicholas Kuhn, that unknown upstart as he was referred to in the German press, with Jamsie. Bernardo, Idah and McCowan will be in. So it’s back to normal business tomorrow.

    ————-

    Like you I don’t want any/many changes.

Our two Rugby Park defeats last season happened when we had ‘weak’ central defence partnerships. I don’t trust Nawrocki, just as I didn’t trust Lagerbielke – I hope both are out the door in January. Welsh is all the man he’ll ever be and has never come close to convincing.

I’d like to see us get another central defender and a holding midfielder in January – fees from the above three and Bernebei could go some way to funding. HH
