There is a degree of public interest in reading about, or listening to, spivs exploit the stupidity of some football fans to bring a club to its knees, but the sight of a tired and emotional looking Malcolm Murray stumbling away from an event is neither entertaining nor of interest to anyone with a sense of humanity.
Have you ever seen a drunk football player or official? I have. It has never been news before nor should it be now. If the man has an actual problem the first response from his club and the wider game must be to offer support for one of our national illnesses.
The fan with a phone camera probably knows no better, but passing-round a recording of when a Frankie Howerd impersonator confronted Murray about his alleged problem is truly awful.
The audio was almost certainly not uploaded onto the internet by ‘Howerd’ but it was his decision to make and distribute the recording. I hope he informed Murray the call was being recorded.
10 years ago today five of us filled a car and drove to Bristol Airport, the nearest available departure point for Scot’s leaving for the Spain; more-local airports were booked out within minutes of the event ahead being confirmed. Bristol is a small airport but the place was full of other Celtic fans who had travelled south for the same purpose. Every departure point in the land was filled by green and white.
A remarkable exodus was underway, it was a privilege to be part of it.
Great news, Willie Wallace has made the long trip from Aus and is now in the UK. Looking forward to catching up with him next week.
I see contributing to Willie’s autobiography has had a dramatic effect on Rod Stewart’s career! He’s just reached No. 1 in the album chart for the first time in decades. Hail, hail, Rod.
You can pre-order the autobiography in Willie’s own words, with Rod’s contribution, Brogan Rogan’s best writing yet, and Archie MacPherson’s fantastic scene setting (“the best team I’ve ever seen”) with the link below. Willie will be signing all copies ordered now just as soon as the presses roll.
Nostalgia overload. Need to hold it together for tomorrow.

Norwich have already bought the ex-Utrecht lad R v Wolfswinkel currently at Sporting Lisbon
Think that ship has sailed for GH
We bit confused by Phil’s latest offering, on the one hand he’s saying…
“I do believe that even if all these promises and pledges have been broken the the SFA will find some way to keep A Rangers, ANY Rangers in Scottish football”
and then on the other he’s saying….
“at this stage probably only a glib and shameless liar would say that Sevco are saveable, only timescale is uncertain, outcome is not”
Which one is it Phil?, certainly hope its the latter

He was a great player. Pity he didnt join Celtic when he was younger.

Great signing for Norwich that. I imagine Hooper will be holding out for Spurs or a club at that level. He is still a young lad and playing more CL games will do him no harm.
He could do with getting his future resolved though. It’s not helping his game. My concern would be that he runs down the last year of his contract to go on a Bosman.
LB
He moved the piece with sleight of hand
It was you see part of his cunning plan
To fool the world with a magic cloak
Klingon made, therein lies the joke
–
The game played out, mesmerised the crowd
Cries of ooh! and aah! With gasps out loud
In his hands pliable and soft to mould
Desperate to believe, if truth be told
–
Rewritten history as the records will show
For nothing happened and no one will know
The truth you see is hidden under the cloak
Beneath mirrors, lies and a fair bit of smoke

Another podium, truly there is no end to your incredible list of talents.
Not everyone will be as happy for you, beware of school teachers wielding over cooked square sausages.

He predicts that Sevco are doomed but Rangers in some shape or form will survive in Scottish football.

My auntie would have worked on the busses in Glasgow round about the same time, she is in her late seventy’s but sadly her memory and mind are not the same. I will ask my Mum if she can recollect the good lady you are talking about and get back to you.
I believe the female ticket takers were called “clippies”
Terrific story btw

Keep the faith
how long before this is picked up by the scottish msm, the once well known protestant telegraph in belfast seem to be going back to their roots,

Seville memories…
Leaving the house at 4 in the morning to get to Glasgow Airport. Departure lounge a sea of Hoops all on the beer.
Hotel in Torremolinos. Bus to the game stopped off in the middle of the desert at some wee diner. About 20 buses parked outside it. A sea of Green and White Hoops everywhere. Standing waiting to be served and big guy walks in with Hartson printed on the back of his hooped jersey. Turns out it was Big John’s da. Spitting image.
I’ll never forget Lenny that day. How that wee ginger hieded irishman could cover every inch of that park for the entire game is beyond me. He was immense.

Vegas……CSC in the English pub inside the Riviera Hotel, if there is a pre season game.
Make sure you visit Freemont Street ( old downtown ) for the cheap beer, as the Strip is a lot more expensive.
Maybe you can be the one to find Kojo?

My prediction is Sevco go bust, the SFA say Ally & the poor innocent fans were punished enough when they had to unframe their share cetificates, Sevco mark II continue in SFL2 with new backers.
2 days later Tom English writes an article sneering at obsessed/gleeful Celtic fans.

Tbj has been a few times.I think Hoover dam maybe one of the tourist spots…

Anyone wanna talk abouta the game?
Maybe it’s just me, but in the last couple of games I’ve noticed how fluid Celtic’s attacking front 3 is.
Some time ago we watched Kris Commons play imo his best game for the Hoops when we thrashed St Johnstone in a cup tie. He played the roving role behind Hooper and Watt. This led to a lot of succesful 4-3-1-2s featuring Commons.
However, there have been games where oppositions have had him heavily marked, and our attack has been stunted (e.g. v St Mirren 1-1). Has Lenny tumbled to this and introduced setups like yesterday’s and last week’s where the front 3 constantly interchange? It worked on both occasions.
My impression of both matches was that v St Johnstone we had an attacking trio of Stokes, Hooper and Forrest who seemed to be on each other’s wavelength, whilst yesterday was more about 2 standout individual performances from Commons and Sammi, both of whom (esp the Greek) had a point to prove, while Hooper, whose place in next week’s team is virtually assured, didn’t really get going.
All of this points to a tricky decision for Lenny. Does he go with Sammi, who hasn’t excelled at Hampden, or Forrest, who seems to suit it better?

Cheers for that, the ghirls and bhoys of that generation must have a great fund of stories, they led the way and instilled a great love of the hoops in us all.
Great characters!
