Extending Kenny deal should be high on agenda

287

The largest part of our rebuilding exercise in the summer will be along the back line.  The departures of Jeremie Frimpong and Hatem Elhamed leave a requirement for two right backs, while Diego Laxalt’s loan will not be renewed.

Christopher Jullien will miss the start of the campaign and with no signs of Kristoffer Ajer extending his deal beyond next year I expect him to leave in the summer.  Shane Duffy will return to Brighton, leaving Stephen Welsh as the only recognised central defender ready to start the campaign.

We need two right backs and one left back, the latter to compete with Greg Taylor, and at least two central defenders.  Recruiting all these players in time for the qualifiers is a huge undertaking.  We could do worse than to put extending the deal for Jonjoe Kenny high on the new manager’s agenda.

  1. The E-Tim’s rumour mill suggests Desmond knows who he wants, only hires British or Irish. it’ll make the Rodger’s appointment the “second most seismic” appointment in Scottish Football history, and now needs to “work out how to make it happen”. It’s Stevie G!!

Not really, but imagine the 💩 and 😂?!!!

  2. Fred c dobbs – i thought Kenny stood out in his first few games in getting to the by line or simply putting decent balls into the box. He hasn’t played much football and I feel he maybe hit a fitness wall after the first few games and it showed in less productivity.

But he was good at the weekend and to me hevus defensively sound.

There may be some brilliant right back out there waiting to sign for us. I hope so. But we need two. If Kenny is one of them I’d take him.

I don’t mind Kenny but we have an entire back-four to build and possibly a goalkeeper and if the quotes of £7m are even close to being accurate, I feel funds are better used elsewhere.

  4. Spidey101 used to love Fridays waiting for the etims rumour mill. Always gave me a little hope even if I knew 99% of it was what they said – made up p1sh!

But just fo enjoy the speculation. So British or Irish manager who would be a seismic signing for Scottish fitba? Hmmm?

    TONYROME-sounds good buddy.

I love the grampa stuff as well.

My sister is doing well and my nephew was in getting his bloods took today by his aunt T

Came in with his big rangers woolly hat(we got him that for Christmas) and his rangers snood on.😉

    He kills me🙄

You all stay safe buddy 🍀

  6. The Huns are on 85 points from 31 games. I just checked back and we were on 87 at that point in 2016/17 and ended up on 106

It’s small victories but we need to beat them at least once in the run in to burst the unbeaten league run and stop them equalling our points total

we won the league with 8 matches remaining that year too so they can’t have that either!!

From Douglas Fraser Business Editor of the BBC

Breaking: one of the best-known Scots in PR and corporate comms has had to quit the chair of the company he owns after a spectacular own goal. Gordon Beattie wrote on Linked-In that his company doesn’t recruit blacks, gays or Catholics, but only hired talented people…

He describes the language as “inappropriate”: truly sorry for the offence and embarrassment caused to staff and clients.

Beattie Communications ceo Laura Woods: he’s not prejudiced, but there are no excuses for the language used, the message was “reckless” and “out of touch”.

Too early to say what happens to ownership of the company, which has six UK offices, 4 in Canada, and employs around 100 people.

GEEBEE1978- Jeso mate it still doesn’t say BR WANTED TO SELL HIM.

He was willing to do a trade.

    Big difference.anyway it’s my bedtime.

I enjoy and agree with most of the stuff you post on here.

In a civil way as well 👍

    Re Gerad and Beaton

Civil’s good. Maybe it’ll catch on and we can be trendsetters.😉

True…he was willing to trade – with Clint Dempsey. Not a move that would’ve aged well….

  12. Gerrard’s confrontation with beat on staged.

    Phoney indignation fooling no one.

I know we should try to avoid the loan market too much if we can help it but once Laxalt, Moi and Duffy have gone we’ll have room for one, I think.

With such a big rebuild needed, maybe Paul67 is onto something and we could look to extend Kenny’s loan for another year.

Saves us looking in that position for the short-term and we save spending money on him that we can’t really afford.

  15. An Tearmann from 11.44 last night. I lurk rather than post as what I tend to post does not seem to attract further debate. I also scroll by more posts than I read.

Some might also confuse me with JBH too 😩😩😩.

The 1980/81 article was terrific. Three things stick out for me from that season. Big Roy’s goal and celebration after his one two with Colin Jackson when we beat the original Ibrox club , beating Hearts 6 nil on 1/4 with the Jungle singing April Fools and Tommy’s goal the night we won the league.

So, you deny us a penalty and book Morelos, then when we’re leaving the pitch at half-time I’ll shout and swear at you and you red card me and everyone will think you’re not biased…

    Doesn’t sound plausible…

  17. GEEBEE1978,

A yes from me. He ain’t no Tierney, but we feel more secure with him in the team.

    Time will tell I suppose.

    Hail Hail.

  18. !!Bada Bing!! on

Gerrard sits in the stand, next seat a member of coaching staff, no SD,no masks.

  19. Roberttressel I used to look forward to it on a Friday too!

I honestly can’t think of a British or Irish manager who would be “bigger” than Rodgers, unless he’s talked Ferguson into a comeback!

For what it’s worth, I think we’ll get Harkin as DoF; Torrent as Head Coach and Maresca as his assistant/successor-in-waiting.

  20. Weebobbycollins on

Just before the Morelos yellow card I was going to post that Beaton was covidhuns’ best player. Then that happened…

  21. Weebobbycollins on

Beaton is untrustworthy, as are just about all Scottish refs, however, I can’t believe what you’re suggesting. Too far fetched…,

I wouldn’t be against that at all.

Still, if it makes you feel better. Even big Judith would disagree with you… :-)

  24. Extending Kenny deal should be high on agenda

naw from me , young welsh much better bet as not tall enough to make it at centre back , imo.
