I was concerned about a trip to Estonia after hearing Hearts struggle in their home leg against Estonian opponents last week, so news that Gibraltar’s Lincoln Red Imps beat Flora Tallinn was welcome, although the concern was tempered as news arrived that Hearts were three goals up in the away leg.
The lesson here is that in July, one more week’s training has a huge impact on performance.
Brendan Rodgers will be happy with how training has progressed thus far, but it’s only when players put multiple 90 minutes under their belts that they are ready for competitive action. There’s not necessarily a great deal of work to do to overcome Red Imps (no offence intended), but qualifiers come thick and fast thereafter. Despite beating Slovenian champions Olimpija Ljubljana yesterday, I expect Celtic will be more motivated for Saturday’s game against Maribor.
It gets serious from now onwards.

Clattenburg will try to balance this up

Nice one. See you in Limerick pal.
Tonight I am mostly shouting on Portugal.
Ronaldo. Respect.

Hail Hail
Poor performance from France. Portuguese not great but deserved it tonight. Says something when the highlight of the competition was Iceland stuffing england
France shell shocked.
Big Ronny new manager.
Seriously, what is the point of Danny Murphy here?
40 mil prem superstar misses sitter
Karma France!
I’m going to enjoy Thierry’s coupon
Portugal have stolen the final and killed football.
One too many dreadful games that ended a sequence of games, that ended in extra time .
All in all a poor mans World Cup and a far cry from nostalgia filled football.
Negativity ruled these games and the only surprise of the tournament was that France did a Germany on Germany.
Defensive cup soccer where Greece ( in Greece ) Wales, Iceland, and Portugal parked their buses.
Inevitable irony with the over hyped Ronaldo and his exit that Portugal would nick it.
At least back to Celtic now and we can get a laugh.
Italian commentary is great – no idea what they are saying – very excited, and no Danny Murphy :-)

Poor Thierry can’t wait to see his face.
Well done the Western Iberians. See you in Lisbon next May 25th.
Best thing Clattenberg did all day was blow the whistle to end what has been a truly dismal Euro’s.
This tournament would have you scrambling for a different sport to watch.
Coaches are taking all entertainment out of the former beautiful game.
It looks to me that Mother Mary of Fatima is stronger than Mother Mary of Lourdes.
Ronaldo’ll struggle to get his place back now.

No worries. The Mountblow Bar? I’m here long enough to remember Steve and Frank’s dad’s barbershop at Hardgate before it moved downhill.
I’m at Celtic Park for Wolfsburg and the Imps. PEDster City can do one. Catch up with you soon.
Well done Portugal and well done all the home countries who made it there too.
I enjoyed the tournament.
In contrast Copa America was full of excitement and interest.
Well except for Messi’s penalty SNAFU
Cristiano is manager of the year!
What a poor tournament, won by a poor performance but a solid defensive unit and team.
Portrugal did not flinch when losing their talisman, they just did what they do. Not pretty but ask a Portrugese fan tonight and he will say CGAF!
As of this moment I have lost around £12 to the bookies in this tournament, but have lost even more respect for football as it is played today.
6 draws and 1 win in 90 mins. Average team win poor tournament.
The tournament was bloated. Too many teams.
Too few really great players.
And too many coaches who raise that a sure fire way to progress is to hit on the counter, leading to heavily defensive, risk-free football.
Portugal are about as memorable a team as the Greek team that won it a few years ago: only Ronaldo elevates them.
Lesson: defensive solidity get you far.
Lesson: really great players are very, very thin on the ground.
Not sure who the Portugal manager is, but seemingly a defender in his day, seemingly he has been in charge of 14 competitive games now 5 draws and 9 wins in 90mins, and a Euro championship in the bag…….
As another poster said, back to the real football CELTIC
Beautiful game it certainly is not anymore but ( and I accept I am in a minority here), I enjoyed the game. The skill level was high , the result was never certain until the final whistle and the goal which won the Championship for Portugal was a cracker.

Good night from me, my last post was a bit too dramatic on reading it back. It’s only football…

Thank God Wimbledon’s over. What a lot of Establishment pish. As for Murray? Greetin like a wee girl in public like that ffs. Obviously from Southern Scotland.
Hey Foxy – ya keyboard hardman!
You watching the Euro Final?
Lots of real hard fitba’ players now greeting like wee girls, pulling up with cramp and blowing out their arses after a whole 120 minutes.
Murray can run for 4 hours and then jump in an iced bath.
No bad for a soft establishment sportsman from Southern Scotland – you fud!

BGFC, you on lake Garda?
Normally it is an undiluted pleasure to see Ronaldo greetin’
I’m about to put my central heating off. But it doesn’t matter, for the past year no one except BMCW has ever acknowlwedeged me.
BFGC, read back. I see you are in Bardolino. Are you enjoying it?

Not saying I agree with Foxy’s post but a footballer covers more ground in 90 mins than a tennis player covers in 5 sets.
A midfielder can cover up to 9 miles in 90 mins whereas a tennis player is around 3 miles.
Jimthetim53
BMCUWP would talk to anybody…..it’s July what’s the central heating doing on ?
JimtheTim
What about all those phone calls from the Scottish Government advertising their new central heating grants and boiler replacement?
Was that not acknowledging your recent central heating post?
