Extra week training in July has huge impact

I was concerned about a trip to Estonia after hearing Hearts struggle in their home leg against Estonian opponents last week, so news that Gibraltar’s Lincoln Red Imps beat Flora Tallinn was welcome, although the concern was tempered as news arrived that Hearts were three goals up in the away leg.

The lesson here is that in July, one more week’s training has a huge impact on performance.

Brendan Rodgers will be happy with how training has progressed thus far, but it’s only when players put multiple 90 minutes under their belts that they are ready for competitive action. There’s not necessarily a great deal of work to do to overcome Red Imps (no offence intended), but qualifiers come thick and fast thereafter. Despite beating Slovenian champions Olimpija Ljubljana yesterday, I expect Celtic will be more motivated for Saturday’s game against Maribor.

It gets serious from now onwards.

    I think what we have now is what we go with on Tuesday, and no dissrespect to our opponents honestly should be enough this deadline doesent bother me at all, but it’s football, who knows.

    Where is the money coming from? is there enough to give Mike his Money for those unsold jerseys (7.8m) the devildome needs works (1-6m?) H4H are going to sue and they may get fined advertising agencies for using those logos. Where is the money coming from? Can’t be that mush lying around if they had to take the rangers first money.

    I think we have more than enough Tony, Real trouble if we don’t. The Slovenia trip has shown us what that group are capable of and I am happier by the game. Really enjoyed Wed nights teams. I like you am not bothered going into the game without signing anyone.

     

     

    I think they will sit on big money after the euros and see who we get next round before the money will be spent.

    There is also a distinct possibility that Celtic complete two new signings today, and neither starts in Gibraltar. No matter how good a player is, he needs time to get used to his new environment. I wouldn’t want to see someone signed today and thrown straight into a competitive game 4 days later. Remember Larsson’s debut at Easter Road?

    I was at Perth for the televised game v St Johnstone the season before last. You may remember it was 0-0 in stoppage time and Jamesie was through one-on-one, rounded the keeper and shot wide of an open goal from 8 yards.

     

     

    The guy behind me claimed he had missed it deliberately. Why? To hammer another nail in Ronny’s coffin.

     

     

    There’s nowt so queer as folk.
