FA Prem goes international below Uefa radar

793

The existence of the Premier League International Cup, a tournament for under-21s, which the FA Premier League launched this is a fascinating development.  It’s a toe in the water for the Premier League who are running a multi-nation tournament out-with the auspices of Uefa.  A consequence of excluding the European governing body is that all games must be played in the territory of England and Wales, despite Celtic and seven others of the 16 teams residing outside that region.

Uefa retain exclusive rights to hold tournaments across multiple territories, although this definition accommodates the existence of the Welsh FA and Welsh teams participation in competitions run by the English FA.

The Premier League has a broken business model which they have been unable to resolve for a decade of more, as they hae studiously avoided growth in their key TV revenue stream stalling.  When it does, innovative solutions will be required.

As far as Celtic are concerned, I’m delighted we’re there.  In the absence of NextGen this will be a valuable addition to the youth players’ development this season.

Foundation News:

I’m up for the Zip Slide from the top of the Jock Stein Stand to pitch level in front of the Lisbon Lions’.  Never done anything as ridiculous in my life but it’s a one-off opportunity for a fee of £30 plus a commitment to raise £125 for the Foundation.

Pile in here, if you’re brave enough for the Celtic Park pitch…………

Not had more than a glance at the annual report yet. Statements dated 12 September? Hmmm.

  1. PJBhoynyc,

We are at our weakest now, when there is no way we should be, Roll on the changes that, I feel, are much needed. If we cannae dae them now, when can we?

We need to get that homebrew crew, all the way through, to that Promise Land, of a much revered Celtic Shirt. I’ve no interest anymore in joining the EPL for the Money, thats not for me, no siree.

I’m confident about Celtics future, a lot less confident about the World, you probably know that anyway.

  2. Tommy Burns, what a Man and what a Visionary.

The Wee Man was playing on Celtic Park on this day.

9 years old. WOW – Tommy Burns was always thinking about making our own CL players.

A few years later I asked him if he was excited about playing in a Stadium for the first time (when he was playing against Airdrie for Dumbarton), he just took the proverbial pee out of me, and quite rightly so. ;))

  4. Good morning friends and a Big Happy Friday from a dark grey, wet and very Octoberish looking East Kilbride.

  5. It was opined by a few on here that Neil left coz he didny want to be around when the vengeful huns will return next season.

If that is true….I canny see PL hanging about to deal with a potential uprising amongst the Celtic support – the remaining half stadium brigade – when it could happen that the huns win the league(mibbery assisted) and, all hell would break loose throughout Timdom.

The returning huns could win the league next season coz, Celtic are p#sh the now and we’ll be even p#sher next season when the loanees will probably leave, maybe even another search for a manager and, hopefully the revelations that the Celtic hierarchy have been in bed with the hun-establishment since the Kelly’s and Whites’ were removed by, the rebels who were ousted by shady Fergus before he gave control to his shady pal DD, before he got fed up and handed over the keys of the safe to shady PL, all financed by the adoring, easily kidded, side-tracked by a couple of Rory Bremner smokescreen jokes at the AGM fans, who have no say in the club that they built with their money – not Fergus’s – another smokescreen myth like Reid’s “We’ll no sit at the back of the bus” bullsh#t aye, how did that work out?

I say that – hopefully – there will be revelations about the complicity of the Celtic hierarchy coz, it’s time these basturts were outed.

Would the Kelly’s and White’s have looked the other way when they ‘knew’ that the huns were getting 3 years CL money to stay alive on the back of honest mistakes?

Off the top of my head I’ll guess that what? £60 mill of CL money over 3 years and the Celtic chocolate fire-guards had nothing to say?

The CARDINAL sin in all of this is committed by YOU.

YOU pay these f#cks to do what they’ve done!

What the Celtic hierarchy has done is far and away more murderous than anything that has happened at the orcdome – F#CK them!!!

The difference is…the Celtic hierarchy have committed more sins than all the devils in hell against – Celtic supporters.

    THAT – is unforgivable. imho

    F#ck this, bye.

    I appreciate your tips.

Mairise ran a pretty decent race – it did sweat up which was understandable in the unseasonable heat and it wasn’t fluent, but it is a big built horse and he looked what he is, a big baby, . I’ve put it in the diary as one to watch and I’m sure it’ll pay dividends through the season, thanks.

  8. Shady Fergus? Was that the guy who saved the club from admin and possible liquidation with his own money, built a 60k seat stadium, stopped the ten, then had a public sale of his shares? That guy?

Aye, that’s right – shady Fergus.

The Fergus who stood on the steps of CP on the night it was declared by

Brian Dempsey – “The game, the game is over – the rebels have won!”

And yet, within hours…Fergus had locked rhe rebels out and ‘plasticed’ Celtic and turned it into a wee mans syndrome regime.

Fergus, got rid of Luigi(who had Walters number) and brought in someone who he could bully – the late Tommy Burns(RIP) who was destroyed as a, person and a football manager.

Fergus, after 4 years brought in a manager who would win the 1st League Title for the Celtic fans in 9 years in a, League Cup and Championship winning season that stopped the horrible thought that the huns could surpass Mr Stein’s incredible 9 in a row.

Wim Jansen wanted to bring on PVH and, John Collins who would both have benefited from playing under a manager with know how. The purchase of these two players would hardly have bankrupted the club in spite of the start of the Advocaat era but, nah…Fergus – on your behalf – ensured that the successful management team would have to leave at the end of the season after a shambles of mismanagement by both, Fergus and his ‘puppet’ CEO Jock Brown.

Wim and Murdo won the Title v’s St Johnstone and, on that day…Mr Celtic McCann sneaked out the side door without congratulating his football management team coz, it was ALL about Fergus. Tyrant, tyrant, tyrant.

Fergus was booed at the raising of the League Flag by the ‘majority’ of the stadium coz he was a wee f#cker and he deserved every boo – especially mine – only the, denialists and the, re-writers of history will tell you it was ‘minority’ who booed – bullsh#t!

Fergus, promised the fans before the 1st share issue that his own shares would be made available for fans to buy for, lower than the price he paid for them – he didn’t do it.

Fergus promised the fans that their club would no longer be run by one man and, will be controlled by the fans – it didny happen.

Fergus said he would leave an amount of his going away money to build a training ground for the players – it didny happen.

Celtic supporter’s bought shares and weren’t in the slightest looking for any control of the club, they just wanted their club to get better, that was all.

Fergus didny like it that, his ‘puppet’ CEO JB was told were to go when, under Fergus’s orders, JB tried to get Wim to sign the cheaper Jim Magilton instead of CL winner, Paul Lambert. Wim showed b#lls and, Fergus and his ‘puppet’ took the huff.

So, Wim and Murdo were gone – through Fergus’s mismanagement – and the celtic fans were plunged into the wilderness for the next 2 years. Thanks Fergus.

Even when he left the club, he left by the side door – found out, big time.

Hopefully that’s of some help – have to go Off oot, bye.

  15. C’mon mags equating the Celtic supporters who continue to love Celtic with the 11/20 fearties of n Britain is no fare. To then give a hunner to Kev for not supporting Celtic but instead supporting the daily rancid is just mad dog mags. Whit you on? I am on home made vodie with mango juice. The tauranga girls are watching some singing program so I have been kicked out. C’mon the hoops. Plenty to win this season. More jelly and ice cream orange ordered.
