FA Prem goes international below Uefa radar

793

The existence of the Premier League International Cup, a tournament for under-21s, which the FA Premier League launched this is a fascinating development.  It’s a toe in the water for the Premier League who are running a multi-nation tournament out-with the auspices of Uefa.  A consequence of excluding the European governing body is that all games must be played in the territory of England and Wales, despite Celtic and seven others of the 16 teams residing outside that region.

Uefa retain exclusive rights to hold tournaments across multiple territories, although this definition accommodates the existence of the Welsh FA and Welsh teams participation in competitions run by the English FA.

The Premier League has a broken business model which they have been unable to resolve for a decade of more, as they hae studiously avoided growth in their key TV revenue stream stalling.  When it does, innovative solutions will be required.

As far as Celtic are concerned, I’m delighted we’re there.  In the absence of NextGen this will be a valuable addition to the youth players’ development this season.

Foundation News:

I’m up for the Zip Slide from the top of the Jock Stein Stand to pitch level in front of the Lisbon Lions’.  Never done anything as ridiculous in my life but it’s a one-off opportunity for a fee of £30 plus a commitment to raise £125 for the Foundation.

Pile in here, if you’re brave enough for the Celtic Park pitch…………

Not had more than a glance at the annual report yet. Statements dated 12 September? Hmmm.

  2. One wee final point – Celtic are rank p#sh just now and, I wouldn’t bet them to beat an egg.

So, as apathy has already enveloped the club, oh and the apathy cake was given a great big icing with the news of PL’s latest windfall, were was I?……yeah, as were p#sh just now and I mean real p#sh…I predict that another f#ck-up at Dingwall will slice another 10k off the already half empty stadium.

P.S. Don’t say yeez huvny been telt ‘every’ day for the last 5 years, bye.

Deid, so won’t be returning anywhere.

If you mean Sevco, they can’t return to the top division either, as they’ve never played in it.

A question for the board of Celtic PLC.

I read with interest that in the interests of efficiency and hitting certain mathematical figures ( similar to profits and dividends really ) that when consuming water we could all apparently be more efficient.

For example by peeing in the shower, you can save about 765 gallons of water every 6 months.

Economically this is clearly an efficient practice to follow.

    So here is my question:

Are the board members of Celtic PLC happy to pee on their own feet every morning in the name of efficiency?

The sound in the background is the flushing of my toilet.

and by peeing up the way in the shower you can save even more, could even get rid of the thing altogether

though trying to explain why your water bills are so low might be a tricky conversation!

Looked up celtic bars worldwide but couldn’t spot anything for Marbella.

    Thanks in advance.

  12. 67Heaven I’m afraid you won,t see me for some time, got scunnered with the whole “matchday experience” and various other aspects about the club so have decided to give it a miss temporarily maybe permanently or just the odd match. I hope you don’t mind me bumping this petition again.

Please share on twitter and facebook etc,

Brishna is a 10-year old girl from Kunduz province in Afghanistan who was raped by a local mullah in May 2014.

She is at risk of an “honour” killing by family and community members for “bringing shame” on her family.

Despite male relatives threatening to “kill her and dump her in the river” local police removed her from the shelter and returned her to her family – despite the risk to her life.

You can take action now to demand the Afghan authorities prevent the ‘honour’ killing of Brishna by signing the petition linked below

This morning I started on a long(ish) post which yet again opines that a PLC structure is just wrong for Celtic as a club.

There are all sorts of conflicts of interests in a PLC’d Celtic and I started on the analogy of how all sailing boats are different – different designs, different rigs, different hulls, and designed for different types of sailing.

For some the key factor or KPI is speed. For others it is comfort or stability. For others it is how quickly will the boat right itself in the event of it capsizing.

For some boats it is efficiency – to hell with comfort for the passengers – just get the cargo from A to B with the maximum profit.

No aspirational sailing, no thrill in the journey, no riding the waves and the emotion of being on the sea.

Nothing against the crew but a PLC is the wrong boat and produces the wrong kind of journey and always will.

  19. BRTH isn’t it astonishing how disconnected, alienated and, down right fed up everyone is.

Peters bonus is simply a slap in the face for all of us.

Celtic are a shambles and has lost its purpose.

Our fat cats are purring though as the lap up the cream and wait for their friends across the city to return.

Irreparable damage is being done to the club.

And I’m sorry to say it but, like the board, Paul is sticking his head in the sand and is in utter denial of what is going on.

    Sad days indeed.

what happened to all that stormy weather you forecast for the past week or so. A wee bit windy at times but a pleasant dry mid-20 degrees was enjoyed by The Baldies when in Calpe.

Went to Denia too but the Bhoy was nowehere to be seen ;-)

    brth

    i agree

we are being run like your typical PLC where all the focus seems to be geared towards what gives the CEO the biggest pile of cash – even in failure these people are handsomely rewarded.

but thats not how a football club should be run, especially one which is ingrained in the fabric of its community and supporters

i dont know what the answer is that will still allow us to compete at the level we want

but the club us currently soulless and directionless so someone needs to come up with an answer

  24. Jobo, the bad weather hits over the weekend, last night was just a wee warm up.

Neganon2, when results start to turn around many will feel a bit better, that after all is our aim, good results that is.

There is a disconnect at present.

I would argue the disconnect is the Board from Celtic. They aren’t Celtic, we are.

BRTH, what would be a viable alternative? Fan owned? And hiw can we achieve this?

    .Off for a quick shower:-)

  25. BRTH to take your boat analogy a little further Celtic are a huge tanker in stormy waters loosing cargo at an alarming rate and yet far too slow to manoeuvre quickly to pick it up.
