There are a few irrefutable facts concerning the appointment of Celtic’s permanent manager. The most obvious is that recent assertions in the media are contradictory and therefore cannot all be true. The same people who brought you, “Martin will be appointed tomorrow”, also brought you “Robbie will be interviewed tonight”.
The second obvious fact is that Celtic are doing their business without keeping the media in the loop. No one is getting the tip-off on what’s going on, not a single scribe. The result of this will not be a discussion on the finer points of Celtic’s glorious double win, there are only so many days that sells. Speculation sells better than anything in the business, be it players or managers, and we are in peak Speculation Season right now. If you are in the news business and you are not selling Speculation, take a good look at yourself!
Beyond these obvious truths, the everyday process of recruitment continues. Agents will have been pitching to Celtic since the day Wilfried wilted. Celtic (should) build relationships with agents, and I know for a fact that they have interviewed managerial candidates in the past as a courtesy to the agent. That does not mean they were seriously considered.
Leaks also happen, but try picking the genuine ones from the fakes and you are a better man than me. Information can leak, only for it to quickly become bad information. Davie Provan once reported live on radio that Martin O’Neill had agreed to leave Celtic for Leeds United. It didn’t happen, Provan was on the receiving end of a barrage of abuse from Celtic fans, upset at his undermining the club during a crucial season (2002-03). Years later, we learned Provan was right, but Martin changed his mind.
There are human practicalities as well. The only thing Martin was clear about at the end of the season, was that he was unclear on whether or not he wanted the job. If he has been offered the job (hmmmm), is he entitled to consider the prospect over a holiday? Dermot Dermond gave him 10 minutes to consider the interim position in October, the situation is considerably different now.
You know as much as I do, and we both know as much as anyone else who is reporting on the subject. The third irrefutable fact is that tomorrow is another news cycle and there will be news on the Celtic manager, even if there is no news. You can bank on it. Forgive me if I roll my eyes.

Best of luck to Kenny Dalglish Celtic legend and Kevin Keegan in their fight against cancer

Keane managed by far the biggest club in Hungary
He lost the league to a club with average attendance of 5,000 who’s budget was somewhere between Livingston and Dundee
If he wasn’t Irish , his agent wouldn’t even get a return phone call . He’s not remotely qualified to manage Celtic
Being Irish is not a qualification
Having elite management ability as Martin O’Neill has , is THE qualification.
Totally agree with this
HH
I love Celtic as much as anyone, honestly.
If Celtic appoint Keane as manager, then 100% I will wash my hands of this club, can’t take any more.
Been mentioned loads, but what and why should a non director of the Club be interviewing candidates for a new manager, ridiculous. Just proves what a bunch of spineless clowns we have on our board.
Some board member should say, look Desmond, appreciate your help and input , but we run this club.
why are they so scared shitless, beyond me.

back in saint johns primary circa 1972, I didnt know what “math” was.
But even now all years later I can remember getting told to do my sums.
Later in high school, 1978-82, we had both an arithmetic class (I got an o-level) and a Maths class (I didnt, passed the prelim, blew the actual exam by not going to school after easter)
On reflection, I cannot recall any of the teachers, and especially not Mr McCool ever talking about the Math clath.
So, induldge me, I dont agree with the term “do the math” for actuall doing sums.
But I do know, again, in corporate law, a person without the majoriity shareholding in a company, (ie less than 50%), can be seen as “the owner” thi not thee, if they have overall control
not proper english, but like what DD does.
I wont do AI again, I will get it from an auditors website.

Or maybe, they argue at the board room meetings, and then say, aye ok, do it your way.

+==========
Just Back from Benalmadena and here is the full context in relation to your Liverpool reference.
Lets start with Dermot Desmond’s statement to supporters on 27 October 2025 where BR is basically accused of not acting in a trusting manner.
“When we brought Brendan back to Celtic two years ago, it was done with complete trust and belief in his ability to lead the club into a new era of sustained success. Unfortunately, his conduct and communication in recent months HAVE NOT REFLECTED THAT TRUST.”
The narrative that gained traction with repeating is that it was DD who broke trust with BR and anyone who challenged that narrative was accused by yourself of doing what the Board asked and called placemen, a term which I think you mentioned.
I thought BR more likely of being the cause of division than DD because as I explained I was told by a wealthy Liverpool supporter with no dog in the fight when BR signed the first time that BR was not a man to trust.
I did not want to believe the Liverpool chap (Owner of biggest Disco in Liverpool) but lo and behold BR leaves Celtic for a more financially rewarding life in England after a couple of seasons.
There BR was able to buy already experienced good players in a higher market that Celtic could not enter, but the manner of BR’s leaving left a bad taste in the mouth.
In spite of that DD persuades BR to return to develop Celtic within the kind of sustainable budget regime that managers of all clubs have to acknowledge in taking on the job.
All is fine for two seasons under that agreement that saw Celtic take on and nearly beat Bayern Munich but then in the last summer window discord arises .
Managers wanting more to spend is not news, but something took place that tore the support apart not just between them and The Board but between supporters after DD spoke out in anger.
Honda Civic references did not help but that is not enough to cause the anger in DD’s statement or the anger in his voice in mid September about BR when he spoke to me about my proposal to bring unity via a Membership Service.
The thing about that unexpected call is that all that was said was in confidence not to be aired and I was advised that things would settle in 5 months and go smell the flowers.
That call was on 19th September. BR’s record from 21st Sept to 26th Oct v Hearts is
Summary
Played: 8
Won: 3
Drawn: 2
Lost: 3
Goals For: 11
Goals Against: 11
Goal Difference: 0
Notably, the defeat at Hearts on 26 October was Brendan Rodgers’ final match in charge during his second spell, with his resignation announced the following day, 27 October 2025.
I recall that day well where I thought BR’s team selection was asking for trouble on the park before the game began, saw the trouble I feared emerge after errors by young Murray and Donovan against an experienced Hearts forward line and was angry at BR for losing in the way we did.
A day later DD expresses HIS anger when he should not have if he expected the discontent to be over in a few months as I had been told.
That public statement by DD was the last thing I expected because the nature of the 19th September call, whilst DD was angry at BR, gave me no cause to expect what did happen on 27th Oct.
So I have the advise dating back ten years that the BR is not to be trusted, evidence that that advice was accurate when BR left in the way he did the first time. Then I heard DD tell me privately in September something that he then went public on at end October.
It was against that background I asked two guys from Liverpool after watching the Hibs game for their view of BR.
The Everton lad did not have much to say but the Liverpool guy went to town on BR and only reinforced what I heard when BR joined Celtic first time in trust terms and what I heard first hand from DD himself.
So I simply do not buy the narrative DD broke trust with BR and BR was the victim of a big bad Board.
The scorpion and the fox crossing the stream is a good analogy in which the fox (DD)should never have given the scorpion a lift over the fast flowing water.
That is my narrative based on what you were always asking me i.e. why I trusted DD more than BR
No naughty digs needed.

Blaming Brendan Rodger’s, for “ squad vandalism “ or shaking your fist at the telly over tennis balls, won’t solve the Celtic supporter schism.
In mid evisceration – DD ‘let slip’ squad strengthening in January. The impasse was already there, regardless of blameworthyness, the players hadn’t come in DD knew it and the situation couldn’t go on, with Brendan Rodger’s dummy well spat.
Celtic winning is all it takes for it all to go dormant, again, there is no incentive for buying a ST because DD knows that 53,000 will be sold in any case thanks to the supporters, the lights stay on.
The current board without the changes made, and expected were temporarily reprieved. ‘Exuberance’ and Celtic joy took over in MON’s miracle, but boardroom dinosaury puts Celtic in Limbo. If you can think of one thing the board did well, we should be told, I’ve yet to see it posted on CQN or anywhere else for that matter. Glorious balance sheets only go and make it worse, a bizarre Cup final defeat and eight league defeats before the split three managers in four spells, was that the boardroom input?
Supporters create wealth when they fill ‘the most magical place on earth ‘ quote MON or give money to Celtic through tickets or merchandise. Direct debits started on Friday, maybe there will be an extension, for renewals it’s been a while since we had one.
The MON effect and influence will never be forgotten, and if anybody is going to give our 74 year old a job, it’ll be our 76 year old.
Only two men have been the unanimous choice of the supporters MON the first time, and Brendan Rodgers the first time.

Good Morning Fholks – Grand Day To Be A Tim…
Auldheid @ 9:07 pm,
Hope you enjoyed your time in the Costa-del-Sol…
It’s certainly been the hills-del-sol in the chillederns…
Our circular discussion became ever decreasing circles quite some time ago…
The important thing is to focus on the facts:-
– The Celtic Executive went out to Spain and promised Brendan Rodgers the world (class) to bring him back to Celtic FC
– The Celtic hierarchy not only reneged on the deal they unilaterally changed the total direction of Celtic from a fleetingly striving world class club – to aspiring for mediocrity
– Brendan Rodgers didn’t change his outlook and ambition for Celtic FC, Celtic PLC did
– BR wasn’t the only one to highlight the issues with Celtic PLC’s recruitment failures, literally every reasonable person has seen it – even this year Celtic luminaries from Martin O’Neill to Lord Haughey have said as much
– BR&Co left Celtic in October and their football hell ended, Celtic’s football hell compounded – if it wasn’t for blessed Martin&Co we’d have had a disaster – a glorious Lennoxtown victory was pulled from rabid jaws of PLC defeatism.
My expectations for this closed season was – nothing – it’s turning out worse than I expected:(
Hope your chums MN and DD see sense and ride off into the sunset and let ambitious Celtic fholk take the reins of our great club to make Celtic FC what it is more than capable of becoming.

BSR @ 9:44 pm,
Excellent points made…
We must remember, everything great that Celtic stand for, every true Celt, from the stands, through the diaspora to the dugout creates Celtic, not the Board who are anathema.
The PLC got a principal shareholder twenty years ago who fills positions with sycophants – fholk like Lord Reid, Dom McKay, BR etc not welcome, my way or the highway – the PLC is a sad apendage to a truly world class sporting phenomenon.
This is what we could have won…
“Rodgers Revolution: Why Al Qadsiah will continue to rise with top tactician
01 Jun 2026
After emerging for a debut campaign in the Roshn Saudi League ahead of the 2024-25 season, the Al Khobar club have transformed, both off the pitch and on it, into a domestic powerhouse.
That remodelling went into overdrive last December with the arrival of Brendan Rodgers; a signal of intent from the Eastern Province outfit.
That’s right: Al Qadsiah weren’t here merely to make up the numbers. And it paid off, as Rodgers ensured his new side concluded the 2025-26 RSL as one of the most in-form teams in the Saudi Arabian top flight.
Al Qadsiah rounded off their season with a huge win at Al Ittihad
Rightfully, Al Qadsiah can now look ahead to next season, with a fresh three-year contract for 2025-26 RSL golden boot winner Julian Quinones and a move into the brand new, state-of-the-art Aramco Stadium, as one in which they can really make their presence felt.
It also marks the first full season in charge for Rodgers and, if how they ended last term under the Northern Irishman is any indication, the rest of the competition has been put on notice.
Rodgers was installed after nine RSL games last season, when he promptly promised to bring with him his trademark brand of high-intensity attacking football.
“We want to finish the season as high as we possibly can,” the former Celtic and Liverpool manager said upon his arrival in the Kingdom. “But also playing our football. The attacking football is obviously very important for us. But we want to win and we want to win in a really attacking style.”
While, on paper, Al Qadsiah improved only in one position on the table, finishing fourth after sitting fifth when Rodgers landed on the east coast, consider that mission accomplished.
In 25 RSL matches in charge, Rodgers experienced a solitary defeat – a 3-2 loss in the Eastern Derby to Al Ettifaq. Before that came an unbeaten run of 17 games, including wins against Al Nassr, Al Ahli and Al Ittihad.
There was also the 2-2 draw with Al Hilal, when Al Qadsiah were robbed of victory once Simone Inzaghi’s side equalised in the dying minutes.
As well, no team scored more than Al Qadsiah since the new manager’s arrival (67 goals), while two other metrics illustrate how successful the “Rodgers revolution” was.
No club earned a greater percentage of their overall points after Rodgers’ appointment, at 78 percent. By comparison, in the same period, Al Nassr gleaned 69% of their 2025-26 tally and Al Hilal 73%. Ultimately, they represented the top two teams in the country.
Secondly, no club saw a greater improvement in their points-per-game average during that time. Before Rodgers, Al Qadsiah were averaging 1.89 points per game, by far the lowest of the top five. By season’s end, that had risen to 2.40 – an improvement of 0.51.
Of the top five in that spell, only Al Ahli (+0.37) and Al Hilal (+0.33) also improved their points-per-game ratio.
Now take into consideration that Quinones locked away on a new deal through to 2029 – a major piece of business when a fine 2026 FIFA World Cup with hosts Mexico could pique interest – and that fresh extensions were agreed last week announced for supreme Saudi defenders Jehad Thikri and Mohammed Abu Al Shamat.
And then that recently anointed 2025-26 Saudi Player of the Season Musab Al Juwayr should only get better working with Rodgers. So it’s little wonder the talented tactician is so bullish about his side’s prospects.
“The last five months have been so enjoyable,” Rodgers reflected after Al Qadisah’s 5-1 triumph on the final day at Al Ittihad. When I look at the scoreline tonight on 79 minutes, we’re still pressing, still running, trying to score goals and playing with all the principles that we have tried to bring to this team.
“So, the energy and the support that this team has given me since I’ve come in… to come to a club like Al Ittihad and make that scoreline, it gives us a great foundation and base for next season.
“So, [I’m] proud for every player, proud for all our staff and clearly our supporters, and I’m already looking forward to next season and to challenge for trophies.”
The Al Qadsiah fans have really taken to manager Brendan Rodgers
For sure, Rodgers and Al Qadsiah appear a perfect match.
“I can only look back since I’ve been here,” Rodgers continued. “Obviously, my job was to convince the players how we want to play and they deserve a huge amount of credit, because I ask a lot of them.
“They have an obligation to run and to work, and they have done that in every game. The only game we lost we had a red card, and we still should’ve got something from the game.
Al Qadsiah manager Brendan Rodgers has proved a superb appointment
“But we can still improve and we’ll look to do that in the summer. And, hopefully, we can challenge and have a full season in [all] the competitions to have even more success next year.”
With the Rodgers revamp well and truly in motion, Al Qadsiah are clearly a club on the up.

We can all see the direction of travel with Desmond.
Keane should be nowhere near Celtic and even in Ireland he is shunned even in Gibneys. His CV is not even mediocre.
The Board are a laughing stock. DD way by his sell by date. Celtic are so out of touch and make zero effort to improve. Self harm seems to be their motto. Only they could suck the energy out of the euphoria at the double being achieved. All of Scottish football failed to achieve this yet DD and the Board parasites will achieve it in a heartbeat.
We have renewed our season tickets but will continue with not a penny more and AC MIlan game and other friendlies will come into the boycott.
My prediction is that anything with Keane and Scott Brown will be a disaster and the club will be at war with itself. Also Scott Brown to make Keane palatable to the support— no chance he has been a failure in management and it’s crazy to even be talking to him. Even MON somewhere in the structure will not bring peace.
Keane cannnot be anywhere near Celtic.
Resolution 12 was voted on at the 2019 Celtic AGM, it was defeated, with 97.19% of the votes cast against the motion. The resolution—which related to licensing practices and investigating a UEFA license granted to Rangers—received only 2.81% of the votes in favor
David Low and the Celtic trust voted at the AGM in favour of Res12
The secretary of the Celtic trust Marie Musker assisted with the original drafting of Res 12 also advice was given from a position of knowledge and experience on how the Celtic PLC would oppose Res12
As it was their right to decide, the requisitioners choose for themselves the path to walk forward with Res12
Celtic Trust as an organisation never opposed Res 12
The reason Res12 failed at Celtic AGMs is the Celtic FC PLC Board opposed and blocked the resolution
The resolution reappeared at subsequent AGMs, often serving as Resolution 11 on the meeting agenda, but it consistently failed to pass as major shareholders and the board voted against it
Facts as opposed to unsubstantiated 2nd/3rd hand gossip
