Fan zones and flags

230

As we predicted months ago, Glasgow will be open for the Euros, the Scottish government yesterday went to the extent of confirming 6,000 spectators could attend the Glasgow Green Fan Zone – with testing optional.

It was made clear to me by sources inside Holyrood that the Westminster Government would ensure games would go ahead at Wembley and there was no way the Scottish Government would have a flag waving exercise in London without the same exhibition of a different nation in Glasgow.

All of the key indicators are pointing in the wrong direction and international holidaymakers face renewed restrictions, but flags, and all that.  No wonder the hospitality industry is in uproar.

You may well have watched Jack Hendry in the last two Scotland friendlies

But you would have been alone in doing so

Neilbhoy : Very difficult to have current and relevant Celtic chat when we are in a state of limbo.

There is only so much reminiscing we can accommodate.

  7. If the successful vaccination programme in Scotland and the UK in general cannot bring normality, what can ?

We need normality for so many reasons ( Medical and non medical) . Another endemic virus we must live with.

One thing is for sure: Attending Parkhead will be less of a “risk” than a Euro fan zone.

Not a lot of people know this but Yul Brynner was a lifelong Celtic fan.

    He never wore aftershave either.

That’s right, Yul never wore cologne.

I know Jack Hendry received plaudits for his time in Belgium but having watched him in the last two friendlies , I see no significant improvement .

I can’t for the life of me see why the Msm are making such a thing of Celtic supposedly losing out .

    Or maybe I can

    ——

Spot on. I never saw Hendry enough to know for certain how good he might be, but suspect he’d not be of the calibre I’d like at centre back. No point in allowing the media to influence beating ourselves up over him. In a similar vein, the one game I’ve seen Toney play in, I thought he looked just decent.

We’re going to have to start being positive at some point, so might as well start with supporting our new manager and hope our incompetence of a board has got lucky.

Thank you for the tip (although some guys on here have mentioned it before). Yes, had a wee look and recognized some great old monikers. Best of all, the chat is about Celtic.

  15. Being kind, I suppose those who are not only constantly negatic=ve but repetitively so don`t realise the harm they are doing to CQN in terms of driving posters away.

  16. `negatic=ve`

Just to be clear, that was meant to be ` negative` and was not some cryptic clue :-)

  17. Good morning from an overcast North Staffs.

Still no manager – no surprise there

2nd test match from Egbaston with a crowd of 17,000 despite rising covid cases. Need to start trusting the vaccine otherwise what’s the point.

No surprise – there’s plenty of negativety round the club which is reflected on here.

I would agree that certain posters never post anything positive.

Chores to do – back later

    From the article:

Outgoing Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell added: “Ange is a manager we have known about for a number of years and someone who has been prominent in our thoughts for some time.

“He is a great coach who has attractive, winning football in his DNA. He has an excellent record, he is a very strong personality and someone with a real desire and passion to take Celtic forward.

Surely no one can take this seriously? I wish the new manager all the very best but for us to pitch this as a long term plan is just not true, they really treat us like idiots.

    Welcome to Celtic Ange.
