FANS’ FAVOURITE HEADS FOR SPAIN

FORMER Celtic loan star Patrick Roberts is on his way to Spanish outfit Girona.

The winger, who spent two-and-a-half seasons at Parkhead on temporary deals from Manchester City, is expected to agree a season-long contract with the La Liga side.

Roberts, who left the Scottish champions at the end of last term, was linked with a move to either Leicester City or Huddersfield.

However, negotiations could not be concluded before the end of the English Premier league transfer deadline last Thursday.

Brendan Rodgers also refused to rule out a third outing for Roberts at the Hoops before the prospect of landing Australia’s 19-year-old World Cup touchline raider Daniel Arzani from City was announced.

Roberts, who cost City £12million from Fulham in July 2015, has little prospect of breaking into Pep Guardiola’s current first team squad.

Girona, who have links to the Etihad giants, were alerted to the situation and the ex-Celtic fans’ favourite is now heading for Spain.
