Newco fans climbed over the wall of the Sandy Jardine Stand to celebrate what they thought was the opening goal on Sunday. It was ill-advised, but not aggressive. The same was true when Celtic fans climbed over to celebrate the win. This copycat behaviour happened at Motherwell in 2023, when the home side scored a late equaliser, then Celtic scored an even-later winner.
With two incursions in the bank and Celtic fans on their pitch, were Newco ultras just going to turn and go home? Of course not. It looked like adrenaline-fuelled cosplaying adolescents. Unfortunately, this can never happen without the violently-inclined getting involved. They attach to marginal transgressors for cover.
The media and politicians can spare me their hand-wringing. They love it. They live for it. It gives the media audience. Finding news is hard work, this story was a gift for hard working news journos. Politicians are platformed to give a censorious lecture with commitments to act tough. The late Alex Salmond pitifully grabbed the spotlight in 2011. It is just an opportunity for politicians, the same again next week would suit them fine. It beats explaining their own performance on healthcare, education, the judicial system, social care and management of our towns and cities.
As for the good of Scottish football? The worst thing that can happen to Scottish football is that it becomes irrelevant. Today, the product looks like it has the edgiest game in the world. Scottish football could not afford all the media coverage it got for free this week.
There were two groups of fans at the game on Sunday. One who went to see a game of football, one who wanted to stick it to the man. One of the latter group walked out of the Broomloan Road Stand beside me, “I broke a seat!”, he yelled, waving his trophy above his head. He was not as young as you would hope.
The problem is not the adolescents. It is not football fans, or even ultras. It is people. When there are no personal consequences, some people take advantage. Even when there are consequences, some are too daft to consider them.
Police deserve a rocket up their backsides. In a previous era, Strathclyde Police patrolled pitch side. Now, Police Scotland sit back and let £13/hour stewards ‘police’ crowds. To gain entry to the Broomloan Stand, fans had to filter through multiple lines of police and two ticket inspection challenges (one by police, one by stewards). That fans without tickets found another route into the ground means that police strategy, despite being on the heavy side to normal fans, was a failure. Police are paid very well for these events and if they do a poor job, are able to demand they are paid more next time. They are negatively incentivised and have yet to be held to account. The Police Scotland – Scottish Government – Licensing Board cartel is quite an outfit.
The lad who walked out of the Broomloan carrying a piece of blue plastic above his head didn’t look like someone who had a lot of trophies in his life. That’s the takeaway from Sunday. What you see as chaos is someone else’s sense of achievement.
This is not a football problem, shops now put packets of butter in tagged containers because society has a Live Without Consequences underbelly. But it’s violent edge is almost always a male problem. Fixing that is one for the ages.

CELTIC MAC on 10TH MARCH 2026 9:25 PM
Only the Celtic Fans Collective could attempt to apportion blame for the total failure of Policing @ Ayebrokes on Celtic FCs Chief of Security Mark Hargreaves.
—————-
As Celtic’s Head of Security he should have been involved in preparations for the match and should have questioned why arrangements that had always worked in the past were being changed. Instead, as Celtic’s representative, he was the one that okayed an arrangement that resulted in crushing and raised tensions before the game. So he, along with Police Scotland, should take share of the blame.
He is the wrong man for the job for a whole variety of reasons; not least that he seems a bit thin skinned. Now who is it that keeps appointing the wrong people, I wonder 🤔

….
He may well have questioned it , who knows ? He may well have told the cops and the Huns it was a clown show and wanted nothing to do with it. I’m sure if he had attended Sky cameras would have spotted him and started to apportion blame.
Not to worry our own fan group will do that.
Total morons.
Collective calling out people thin skinned is comedy gold.

Celtic FC – Where you get rewarded handsomely for absolute incompetence.
Ever wonder why some folk spend life on a blog finding fault with others who actually are tasked with being responsible for things.
Maybe these sad and bitter experts have never got to a level in life where they were entrusted with doing anything by anyone ?
Hooch salesman still grieving the punting of Pistol Pete.
EK BHOY – one of them was on yesterday blaming Hargreaves for his mate supposedly being hit by a bottle thrown by a hun!!
Supposedly Hargreaves is responsible for anything bad that happens to Celtic supporters whilst attending games at Mordor.
Where do you start with logic like that?
It makes me LOL to think these morons want to be taken seriously.
You could replace our board with McCoist, Novo and Tanner and they still couldn’t do a better job of sabotaging our season.
Not as good as you and yer mates though👍
Good morning all.
The GB will be there at the beginning of the next season, can Hargreaves et al say the same. . . . . .
I think we all know the answer to that.
The tesco aisle mangers and hooch salesmen on here might not like it, but thems the breaks friends.
There is always the rugger.
Obviously ChatGPT is offline today.

Celtic Mac The Wife,
Mr Hargreaves 😍😍😍😍😍😍has done nothing wrong.
Methinks thou dost protest too much.
EK Bhoy,
So you think a recently retired Head of Police Scotland, would have been ignored if he pointed out serious flaws in the Police operations. You really think that.Duh !!!!!!!!!!!!
Police Scotland, want,it seems, the GB to be more contrite before saying OK to their ban being lifted.Until then, they stay out.The innocent, now it seems, guilty until proven guilty.Shameful.
I will fully expect a banning order from Police Scotland to be handed out to the Ibrox Smurfs for the weekend game played there.

If you’re taking issue with something I’ve written be honest enough to address me. You ignored a previous post calling out your borderline racist nonsense.
Anyway, unlike you, I don’t feel the need to bum up my professional life but I can assure you I have been responsible for stuff; including people’s lives.
EKbhoy and GM. Tidsdale, Nancy, Hargreaves & At least half a dozen dud signings are on this lot in charge of the club but you carry on swallowing their ‘we’ll learn from this’ whilst the gap between us and the rest of Scottish football shrinks and the one between us and our European peers grows

Where did I blame Hargreaves ya halfwit? He is responsible for the safety of every Celtic supporter, who attends games home and away. His role gets involved in security,access/egress of fans, yes I have been involved in planning meetings. Has he questioned the huns re Sunday? We won’t know because of the continued omerta policy ,BTW the guy hit with the bottle isn’t ‘an entitled cokehead ‘ ,you will come across them among your own prawn sandwich brigade.
Good morning CQN
An an unexpectedly bright one on yet another fine day to be a Celt.
Majestic Hartson yesterday – cheers and Lol.

Bournesouprecipe last night – thank you for your reply.
I still hold out hope that some of the originally stated aspirations of the collective are achieved.
Frankly though the doubts I had at the time of their conception (7 sub committees, 23 leads) gradually increase with each statement.
I’m not seeing the statecraft in play.
The kind of nous that sees slick, smart messaging that can put the Celtic board on the back foot.
We used to chuckle on here about long winded statements from fan groups which lashed out at multiple targets.
IMHO – the collective did a little bit of that yesterday.
And without wanting to undermine even a tiny bit this fragile unity we currently have under Martin …
… the collective using its messages to advocate directly for the GB ?
… tells me something about the collective’s positioning.
Right now, tactically, I’d keep the GB as far off the radar as possible.
When you’re in a debate, you address the opposition’s arguments; not the person(s). There’s not a lot of this on here this morning.
Don’t agree the fault lies with the Police at all. As usual, Rangers tried to do things on the cheap, employ way less actual police and use the stewards, who are effectively powerless,
Of course, the reality is Rangers are never to blame, the wee lambs, it’s these pesky kaffliks wot cos all the bovver, always do

The response from Emma Croft has been staggering.
I don’t want to see any huns at Parkhead and it’s up to the accursed rulers of Greyskull if they let any of our fans in.
However she is fundamentalally stating that Police Scotland cannot cope with a full away allocation.
What about Hampdump with a 50/50 split.?
Why could the police cope with >100k crowds in the past when terracing was full of alcholic bottles and cans ? There were often hundreds of arrests.
Is Emma Croft making excuses for the failure that is Police Scotland.
Maybe the police don’t have adequate resources given that the numbers are at their lowest levels since 2008 and the population is growing.
Maybe it’s because they have the most on sick leave than any force in mainland Britain.
Maybe it’s because they are so used to driving about in cars that many are simply unfit for the task.
Maybe it’s because D&I has reduced their capability.
Maybe it’s because they are now so fu@king expensive compared to stewards
None of the above is Hargreave’s fault, especially at Greyskull but nevertheless its something he must equate.

Happy to be corrected, but I’m pretty sure the top job alluded Mr Hargreaves but taking your point on board , yes it’s the Huns gig so they’d happily ignore him.

He’ll do well there. Will another spfl managerial shuffle, see the Well boss join us? I’ve been impressed with this guy from the early months but maybe some of that is due to his persona, as he definitely talks a good game. His Motherwell team played us off the park in a way I’ve never seen a Scottish team do before.
St Mirren are in a worse position than the sheep.
Go figure.
Both Aberdeen and St Mirren have now confirmed the Dons’ approach for Robinson and that permission for talks has been granted.
The Buddies added that the Dons met a contractual clause in his contract

Unfortunately but not unsurprisingly the ‘Collective’ have allowed their own agenda re the Celtic Board and Mark Hargreaves in particular to affect their judgement, and indeed their statement. Talking about doing the SFA/PoliceScotland/RangersFC/SMSM job for them! Maybe better to stick to throwing tangerines and tennis ball on to the pitch……
Wednesday 11th March
I received a large amount of birthday cards today. Some from people I do not know. In particular a Mass bouquet with fifty Masses on it from Mrs Burns from Sevastopol Street. We all know of her, she never forgets us and we shan’t forget her, bless her dear heart.
I also received a card from reporter Brendan O Cathaoir, which indeed was thoughtful. I received a letter from a friend, and from a student in America whom I don’t know, but again it’s good to know that people are thinking of you. There were some smuggled letters as well from my friends and comrades.
I am the same weight today and have no complaints medically. Now and again I am struck by the natural desire to eat but the desire to see an end to my comrades’ plight and the liberation of my people is overwhelmingly greater.
The doctor will be taking a blood test tomorrow. It seems that Dr Ross has disappeared and Dr Emerson is back…
Again, there has been nothing outstanding today except that I took a bath this morning. I have also been thinking of my family and hoping that they are not suffering too much.
I was trying to piece together a quote from James Connolly today which I’m ashamed that I did not succeed in doing but I’ll paraphrase the meagre few lines I can remember.
They go something like this: a man who is bubbling over with enthusiasm (or patriotism) for his country, who walks through the streets among his people, their degradation, poverty, and suffering, and who (for want of the right words) does nothing, is, in my mind, a fraud; for Ireland distinct from its people is but a mass of chemical elements.
Perhaps the stark poverty of Dublin in 1913 does not exist today, but then again, in modern day comparison to living standards in other places through the world, it could indeed be said to be the same if not worse both North and South. Indeed, one thing has not changed, that is the economic, cultural and physical oppression of the same Irish people…
Even should there not be 100,000 unemployed in the North, their pittance of a wage would look shame in the company of those whose wage and profit is enormous, the privileged and capitalist class who sleep upon the people’s wounds, and sweat, and toils.
Total equality and fraternity cannot and never will be gained whilst these parasites dominate and rule the lives of a nation. There is no equality in a society that stands upon the economic and political bog if only the strongest make it good or survive. Compare the lives, comforts, habits, wealth of all those political conmen (who allegedly are concerned for us, the people) with that of the wretchedly deprived and oppressed.
Compare it in any decade in history, compare it tomorrow, in the future, and it will mock you. Yet our perennial blindness continues. There are no luxuries in the H-Blocks. But there is true concern for the Irish people.
new article posted.
Contrary position re going for the Motherwell manager , any other season we’d be 20 points ahead of the Steelmen and despite their attractive football, folks would think we’d lost the plot coming in for this guy.
We’ve already screwed up ( more heads will roll) in picking Wilfried from a league without any pressure (feels like a season long bunch of friendlies).
How will the new guys tactical approach work with a side that is predominantly on the front foot and in Europe adapting to sides with far greater athleticism…
I’m not sure Wells 3 at the back approach will work for us , which requires an awful lot of running to create space and angles to receive a ball into midfield. Sounds familiar.
Just think that when you step up a level , his style of play may not translate easily or seamlessly to the tic.
