Fantastic result from Celtic Park

757

It was a fantastic result from Celtic Park last night for Scotland’s poor who are dependent on food aid.  Fans arrived in droves before kick off with bags full of provisions to restock food banks across the region.

I can sympathise with the SPFL to an extent.  Without a sponsor, they are even more dependent on satisfying television, and satisfying television often involves making unpopular decisions, but the mess they’ve made of scheduling the final Championship fixtures of the season is deeply embarrassing for our game.

Our game is looking more and more like it’s being run like a Banana Republic.  Generalissimo Doncaster has a case to answer.

I’m pretty sure no one at Celtic considered Leigh Griffiths as their number one striker when he signed a year ago.  That he has become so, is as much a result of his forward competition failing to deliver as much as his own talents, but there’s no denying Leigh’s ability.  He’s turned into a vibrant, productive striker who scores all types of goals.

  1. Of course a 1% tax rise would only raise £1.5Bn, so that doesn’t fix it by any stretch. That would need over 5% to be covered purely from income tax and that is a figure than everybody would baulk at.

The government could also look at where they currently spend money and decide to spend it differently. Tax & spend …

  9. Afternoon all.

My mate phoned me a wee while ago to ask if there has been any startling (I think that was the word he used) revelations today. Seemingly Keith Jackson was promising such like…….Has anyone heard anything?

  10. Well thems can’t blame Doncaster, he did try his best, honestly this is a amature night, you couldn’t make this up, if you didn’t know any better you would think the guy was trying to work his ticket, how he is still in office is beyond me.

A monkey with a pencil and bit of paper could have done a better job, he has to go surely ?

Yes mate , the SPFL are a bunch of incompetent bar stewards.( So are the SFA )

Hold on a minute that’s not startling news , we all knew that already :-)

Well done to Falkirk, but I did notice the strong reaction from Hibs, they didn’t mince their words.

Hopefully PL is taking it in, but I doubt it.

We wont hear a word about it from the Celtic board, mores the pity.

Expect to get my prize today as well.

The SFA have already said they won’t hold clubs responsible for fans setting off flares and fireworks. They have ignored Celtic supporters using them at league games.

It’s UEFA who have a problem with it.

This I don’t get? What has it to do with PL and the Celtic board?

    Just asking like?

So they feck up a play off fixture list from a division we have nothing to do with, and PL and the Celtic Board get it in the neck?

Angel of death take me now honestly.

  18. The Green Man –

Celtic were not involved. Hearts, Hibs and Falkirk were directly affected and they all spoke out. Now that the SPFL have backed down to their protests and reversed the decision, what exactly should PL be expected to say?

  19. Maybe it’s just me

Yes , well done to Falkirk and Hibs .

I don’t think PL needs to get involved in the fixture arrangements of the lower league clubs but he might have something to say privately about the mess Doncaster is making at the SPFL in general .

  22. Our game is certainly run by clowns. Doncaster should doing the walk …………..right now !

  23. The Hibs statement last night reminding Doncaster about sporting integrity was laced with irony, perhaps sarcasm. Falkirk’s refusal to change from a Saturday is perfectly understandable.

The bottom line is that the SPFL have been completely exposed as incompetent, and possibly corrupt. Surely Doncaster cannot remain in post after this.

The problem is that his place will be taken by some other dummy.

  24. I hope that Peter Lawwell has better things to do than comment on the fixes, I mean the fixtures in the lower leagues….

I’ve always said Griffiths was a player, But! A lone striker he is not, he needs a two up front formation to make it work for his game, ( in my opinion) going out on a limb here, I think he could be an all time great Celt. Some players you get that feeling about and he is one of those players, it’s not a knee jerk reaction because he scored a hat trick last night, although it won’t do him any harm, it’s just ach a like the wee guy and he seems a fun guy to be around, hope I’m right :)

  28. The championship has nothing to do with Celtic. The chairpersons or chief execs of the clubs involved are paid to fight for their clubs and Scottish football as they see fit. We have no need to comment. I wouldn’t want other clubs commenting on our business. Works both ways.

  29. The Green Man on

Or maybe Celtic shouldn’t speak out about corruption, I know that would satisfy the board groupies….shhhhh eh.

Don’t rock the boat, back of the bus…..Aye, ive heard it all before.
