It was a fantastic result from Celtic Park last night for Scotland’s poor who are dependent on food aid. Fans arrived in droves before kick off with bags full of provisions to restock food banks across the region.
I can sympathise with the SPFL to an extent. Without a sponsor, they are even more dependent on satisfying television, and satisfying television often involves making unpopular decisions, but the mess they’ve made of scheduling the final Championship fixtures of the season is deeply embarrassing for our game.
Our game is looking more and more like it’s being run like a Banana Republic. Generalissimo Doncaster has a case to answer.
I’m pretty sure no one at Celtic considered Leigh Griffiths as their number one striker when he signed a year ago. That he has become so, is as much a result of his forward competition failing to deliver as much as his own talents, but there’s no denying Leigh’s ability. He’s turned into a vibrant, productive striker who scores all types of goals.

I can’t help but feel that Leigh Griffiths landed at the perfect club at the perfect time. Few, if any management teams would have offered Leigh a chance to develop his talents in the manner Ronny and Co could.
Leigh would likely have been left to his lazy habits and slipped into footballing obscurity a la Derek Riordan, albeit occasionally showing a brief flash of brilliance. He seems now to be finally finding his way under the continuing application of a healthy dose of Ronny/John/John “tough love”. And with just maybe a wee hug fae Jim once in a while.
Hi Paul67,
Yes! Great stuff at Parkhead last night. Well done all involved.
Special mention to Leigh Griffith – who says you can’t have your cake and eat it.
See the rearangers aren’t having their own way these days. We need to get the relics who hold senior office in Scottish Football, who still think Scottish Football should be run for the benefit of one Club oot the gemme.
Rangers are bust and so is the dogma of their contingent cartel.
Hope Stewart Regan turns out to be one of the good guys. Speaking out against the SPFL Fixture nonsense and now calling out DK and side kick…
“They’re providing evidence and when we’ve got that evidence we’ll be in a position to comment more fully.
“Basically, any evidence from Mr King that would support why he believes that he is fit and proper in consideration to the list of criteria in our article 10 which covers all of the areas regarding track record, background, insolvency, any convictions, etc, etc.
“Paul Murray equally is being considered given that he was a director of a football club in an insolvency in the previous five years.””

Or is he just saying no ticky no laundry?
Hail Hail
san diego bhoy-LG hit a good bit of form a few weeks ago, and not in injury away to Dundee. He looked as sharp as I’ve seen him last night, vital time of the season to hit form too.HH
no ticky no laundry …………….no Celtic and no braw
Hopefully Ronny will give Leigh Gtiffiths a start on Sunday.
So what’s all the ruckus then about charity?
Charity by definition is kindness and compassion. These virtues in any form can only progress and improve the collective.
If a contributor feels a wee bit better by sharing his generosity with his fellow Tims on a blog, designed for fellow Tims, surely that’s accepted and encouraged.
bundoran bhoy – team oscar forever
We posted out a wee something to everyone who participated in the raffle. The expense was covered by CQN books so all sums raised will go to cover TBJ’s expense with rest to Marry’s Meals.

Agree completely.
My wee Bhoy is only 10 so remembers nothing about riordon or his career, perhaps like riordon himself!
Was telling him earlier about the parallels between their stories. And now hopefully the divergence!

A much improved player.
Ronny himself is quoted as saying Leigh has the most lethal left foot he has ever seen. Yesterday would certainly be evidence of that.
Paul McGowan done for Police assault – again.

Feck me, clearly the MBA course at the University of East Anglia, does not teach self-awareness
“Doncaster’s own self belief in that he is doing a great job in the corridors of power, extends to boasting about it to the University of East Anglia where he obtained an MBA.
He claimed: “When I came to apply for the post of Chief Executive of the Scottish Premier League, I had a strong sense of self-belief; I knew I could do that job. I knew that I was a resourceful and multitalented manager, capable of working at the highest level, in all areas of the role from finance to handling the media. And thanks to the MBA coursework, I felt as if there wasn’t really any major chink in my armour – there wasn’t any area of business in which I hadn’t had some relevant experience.””

EDIT
Are we about to see U Turn number 2, send in the feckin clowns
Following yesterday’s announcement of the post-split fixtures the club can confirm Chairman, Jim Mann, has written to the Chief Executive of the SPFL in protest of the unfair treatment Kilmarnock FC have received.
In particular the club has highlighted the following issues:
1) The Club has two home fixtures post-split which means the Club will have played 18 home games and 20 away games by the end of the season.
2) The Club’s request to host a home fixture on Saturday 25 April, to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the 1964/65 season, was simply denied.
Speaking about yesterday’s fixture announcement Jim Mann stated “I feel very aggravated about the contents of the post-split fixtures and have protested in the strongest possible fashion to the SPFL. I do not feel our request to host a home fixture to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of the Club’s only title success was unreasonable and I felt that I had a duty to our fans, most importantly our season ticket holders, to speak up”.
Since sending the letter the Club has received a response from the SPFL and there will be a meeting to address the issues raised.
……………….
what surprised myself was that the SPFL never even hinted at an apology to fans for their fixture mix up….totally oot oh touch…

I’m in Seattle until Sunday and San Diego next week.
Let me know if my plan appealed.
I received a miniature of whisky and a ticket for CQN 11 worth £50.
A bit late but very thoughtful.
Thanks.

I was successful in my bid for the clatty Flying Scot yesterday. Now have to await its arrival, see if it` is genuine and then start renovating it.
JJ
Leigh Griffith and Shifty as a partnership for me next season.
Both like to mix it up by dropping deep, running the channels for longer balls, etc. but they do it with an awareness of what is going on about them and what is needed at that particular time.
They both have that bit of devilment and a will to win as well and that streak can make an average player a good player or a good player average depending whether they have it or not.
Personally i think they could do very well together.
JJ!
just home from helping out in my son’s teamwear business. Picked up a cricket shirt which requested that MASON to be printed on the back. Thought that maybe we should do the SFA referees shirts.
Just recd the miniature of whisky – mrs gene will enjoy that
great result last night
Good stuff from Leigh:
…. the 24-year-old admitted his upturn in fortunes since the halfway point in the campaign was down towards a change in mindset.
“I had to improve,” he said. “I wasn’t playing at the start of the season and I had a talk with the manager and John Collins about what they wanted me to do.
“In those two months, I have knuckled down, worked hard and they are seeing the rewards. I had to work harder in the gym, work harder in training and get my fitness levels up. I have done that, and cut my intake of teacakes to 1 per day, and since the turn of the year I have been bang on form.

Many thanks for the whiskey miniature package , think I’ll use the whiskey for a hot toddy to help with my cold :-))

Ronny is now using the teacakes as motivation.
You can get one IF you get a hat-trick.
Up to you now son.
The two up front does give us options no doubt about that and seems to wee me that is the way to go forward.
I’m sad for James Forrest, the guy has talent, a tanner ba’ player but, and it’s a big but, he is so prone to injury that frankly I really can’t see him in our future plans and I suggest we sell and use the money.
To use a KOJO ism, if I were king I’d keep Jason and Virgil permanently, sign a good striker to replace JG. Can’t figure what’s happened to the bhoy!! He does have talent, maybe his confidence is shot but if we can get him back to the player we know he is, then that would be brilliant..
Lastly, KOJO, if you’re out there let us know at least you’re Ok as your posts are missed big time, well at least by me.

ps Appreciate the revenue stream but these bloody pop-ups are driving me bonkers!!

The guy who was jailed for 4 months had a catalogue of previous convictions and more pertinently, was serving probation. If you are serving probation and are found guilty of any crime, you go to jail.

As a rule probably, but as a statement, factually incorrect

Mail sent, I posted from Celtic Park last night, at least I typed it!
Thanks for the fantastic offer but I can see the game in Atlanta before I have to fly to San Diego.
Cheers, very much appreciated!

Good shout re the thumb and shifty
I see shifty as a moody mark vidukalike .. Maybe not as skillful but needs a bigger club to bring the best on him . The RD fitness and work ethic would improve him too
It was a beautiful early summer but still very cold sunlit night at Paradise, where Celtic wiped the floor with Kilmarnock as you would expect as a modern day Celtic person.
The new Celtic Way the changed with more change to come Parkhead environment truly is something only an oldie can fully understand. What lucky, lucky gifted Celtic fans we are, in a family to add to your family, we roll up and smite all comers, in sport, then you consider what our forebearers suffered under the same alleged banner.
Just for good measure, forget the game the poor ‘immigrants’ bring essential parcels as gifts, and lay them out on the ground, for the poor people of Scotland.
We’re at the front of the bus, having slayed every dragon, a miraculous club, followed by captivating people.

There was a lot of uncertainty as to what Zig n Zag would actually bring to us and Zag or is it Zigs qualities had been debated for a long time before his signing.
They have both done well so far and have made a difference to us.
I think Shifty would too.
Not a risk as in we know what he can do in our domestic competitions…..it is just that step up in quality in Europe that brings all the ????s
IF Ronny can keep making us better as a team then brilliant individuals become a bit less coveted…..although i still wouldn’t say no to a few of them!
