Scottish football returns tonight after the longest midseason break in its history. Celtic have a nine-point lead, the best squad in the country and a unit around the club which few of us recall. But if you think it’s all over, think again. We have played 15 games and still have to face the teams in second and third place away from home twice.
What’s more, the self-flagellation that ensured the sacking of Giovanni van Bronckhorst is over, now we compete against a talent so formidable he knows to insist on a suit/brogue combo – fashionaccio, for what will surely be a few short months of tenure.
The main positive from the break is the return of captain, Callum McGregor. Pretty much everything else has downside risks. Form changes after a break, training and eating routines are disrupted, what was intuitive can become… tuitive.
You and I have seen Celtic bridge a greater gap with far fewer games to play, towels were thrown everywhere apart from the Celtic dressing room, where presumably a fear of John Clark ensured they were folded neatly after use.
I reckon we will open the door for a challenger only if we are first to drop points, which could easily happen on Saturday. Conversely, if Hibernian take a point tonight to defy their form going into the break, which saw them lose six in seven, including to the bottom three sides in the table, you will not be able to get a bet on Celtic winning the title.

45 years ago this week (December 1977), football managers Brian Clough and Jackie Charlton joined the Anti-Nazi League and the campaign against the National Front.
If they did this today, there’d be many critics calling them ‘woke’ and criticising them for ‘virtue signalling’.

Not quite sure what the point of that claim is, even if it is true, which is debatable.
There a say that you learn something every day, well today was one of those days for me, the Mrs asked me earlier if I knew where the word Tory comes from, as in tory party, it turns out I sure didn’t.
How aptly they are named.
Tory was an insult derived from the old Irish word Toraidhe, modern Irish Torai, meaning ” Outlaw” ” Robber ” from the Irish word Toir, meaning ” Persuit ” since outlaws were ” Persued Men ”
” Fact ” >:)

WHAT IS THE STARZ on 15TH DECEMBER 2022 7:10 PM
Half the world is starving war, climate change, you name it, but Peter Lawwell is the big issue. Sad
*aye nae kiddin oh and thanks for telling us his name is Peter as the anti PL’s never mention it, what they also fail to mention is that Michael Nicholson reports to Tom Allison and then DD as did Peter, now we all have had bosses we reported to and mibbees had to manage in areas we didnae like but that’s the way the corporate structure works and if you don’t like it them move on except mibbees just mibbees you like everything else about the company and people you work with and for.
Now we all also knew at the time of Peter’s departure he still had a position with the club and we all suspected he was being groomed for the Chairman’s role and yet there is a lot of weeping and gnashing of teeth how he allowed diedco at the time to continue with their unscrupulous financial practices and yet this is the same Peter when on approaching the charlatans at hunden over some unsavoury decisions given against us was told by the CEO, the former assistant manger to the Harry Wraggs who somehow wrangled the job as managing director at Firhill before climbing that Jacob’s ladder to the role he now occupies, to eff off.
Well since leaving us Peter has worked with UEFA to strengthen the FFP which Brian Quinn another former chairman initially established and so curtail sevco’s
grubby practices in fact 2 directors of the slippery club have since left, now we are all concerned about VAR well wait until Peter gets his feet under the desk and I have no doubt he will take them on.
Lets not forget how powerful a club we are, we along with Renton FC much tae the consternation of the SFA and Queens Park helped set up the original SFL to combat the professionalism of the english clubs who were raiding our amateur status ones and when the governing body found out that the Renton had played against St Bernard’s who had been suspended over allegations of professionalism so Renton likewise suffered the same fate, we Celtic had did the same but they never come after us as we were too powerful even back then.
We also stopped the Ayrshire rag and bone man from setting up his own version of the SPL complete with colours blue and orange as well as logo, what else but a lion, I was hame at the time and told my da we would pay for that, well we almost did as he tried to put us out of the game but as the song says “to beat Glasgow Celtic you’ll have to deport the fighting mad Irish their loyal support”.
Oh dear..

So what’s the score?
Don’t want to curse it – every time I tune in to the radio or tv they have horrible, uncanny knack of scoring.
