Fastest, fittest, Celtic, what Ashley has left

669

A little over two months ago Celtic lost at Tannadice and dropped two points at home to Ross County.  After our disastrous August, and home defeat to Hamilton in October, this December blow put Celtic on the canvas one more time.  I was getting calls from Norway “Are you still backing Ronny?” The transformation since has been enormous.

For much of the first half yesterday Celtic were disjointed, not untypical of a team returning from a European disappointment, but despite this, the support knew – actually knew – not to be too concerned.  Things would come together, and even if they didn’t yesterday, they would next time out, and for the rest of the season.

We have purpose and direction.  The first goal arrived courtesy of Aberdeen’s adherence to the oft-discredited man-for-man marking system, but thereafter, the goals, in fact, pretty much all attacks, came courtesy of the fastest, fittest, Celtic team you have ever seen.

Who do you want standing behind an opponent? One of the wealthiest people in the land, or a “glib and shameless liar”? I’d rather the latter, thank you.

As well as being a tax convict, Dave King sat on the Rangers board for a decade as it spiraled towards liquidation. He sat on the board which failed to make provisions for the HMRC tax case – and it was this specific failure, not the tax case, which led to the club being sold to a liquidation specialist for £1.

He campaigned relentlessly against newco, oft repeating his vision of ‘competing with Celtic’, while many of us considered the club should prioritise paying its bills and living within its means.

It seems certain that at some point between now and Friday he will be in de facto control, although his eligibility as a director appears doomed, should rules be applied.

Some will celebrate whenever Mike Ashley’s men depart the scene, but this is in keeping with their many earlier celebrations. Here’s a prediction for you: go back and read what the LibDems said after their people got into cabinet. ‘Once we saw what was under the bonnet, it became clear we couldn’t do what we wanted to do’. I reckon you’re going to hear a version of that in the months to come. Even today, Dave King has no idea what Mike Ashley has left him. All we really know is that the representatives of one very wealthy man are about to leave the scene.

Thanks to everyone who has bought a ticket to the CQN11 St Patrick’s Dinner at the Kerrydale Suite on Friday 13th March. If you would like details, let me know, celticquicknews@gmail.com

The Paisleyites of the world see their faith as catholic, in the sense of the Universal Truth. Roman Catholicism is the corruption of that faith that they rail against

The antics of the wee fella yesterday were very enjoyable, he was having a ball to himself.

How anyone could find it in them to abuse him or anyone for their disability is, as you say, depressing.

BTW, you may remember me asking you about stuff re: legal politics and the daughter. She had the week with the major Glasgow crew we discussed and hated it – thought the conduct within by seniors towards underlings was jawdropping. For the first time in her life she detected the whiff of bigotry as well although not openly directed at her.

She’s 6 months into 2-yr traineeship but has effectively been working as trainee since April last year. She’s been asked to be part of a team setting up in Ayr with a launch date of at the latest September 2015, she seems well thought of.

We’ve had a right old time here with the latest run of storms. More blizzard conditions today. Thankfully, the forecast is for improvement on Wednesday and that gives me confidence to attend the game and not worry about getting home or storm damage when I’m not there. Hope you are well, and really looking forward to our big meet. Between you and that big jamesgang, I get all hugged out when we all meet up. Lol.

Virgil must tell PL asap if he is going, and give us as much time as possible to find his replacement. Same with Man City re Jason.

Celtic can’t move on this until we know their intentions. It could play havoc with preparations for the CL qualifiers.

I reckon PL got lucky with Ronny, he was after all going to be Lenny’s assistant, then things to a turn that maybes Pedro didn’t envisage.

Whatever, I was, and still am in the RD camp, I could see that his vision was the future, like many, the start was brutal, I blame the players for that, change is hard to achieve in a short space of time, but Ronny stuck by his vision, and it’s starting to reap rewards, and thankfully the players are buying into his vision.

I would never dream of comparing RD with the big man, but there is something about RD that tells me he will go places, and I hope it’s with us.

The 2 nd half yesterday showed the scottish footy world what we are all about, we are champions.

Just calling to say how much I loved your link to Pavarotti and his dad the other night. It was wonderful, did a wee bit of research and found out they did another one an Italian TV program when Pav was 66 and his dad was 88, still singing Panis Angelicus, amazing stuff. Wish I had had the opportunity to sing that, not with Pavarotti but with my dad, who could sing it much better than me. Just to make things worse, the following link was the 1994 concert with the three tenors, brilliant, esp the tribute to Franciso Sinatra y Gene Kelly, never slept that night, Thank you.
