Fastest, fittest, Celtic, what Ashley has left

669

A little over two months ago Celtic lost at Tannadice and dropped two points at home to Ross County.  After our disastrous August, and home defeat to Hamilton in October, this December blow put Celtic on the canvas one more time.  I was getting calls from Norway “Are you still backing Ronny?” The transformation since has been enormous.

For much of the first half yesterday Celtic were disjointed, not untypical of a team returning from a European disappointment, but despite this, the support knew – actually knew – not to be too concerned.  Things would come together, and even if they didn’t yesterday, they would next time out, and for the rest of the season.

We have purpose and direction.  The first goal arrived courtesy of Aberdeen’s adherence to the oft-discredited man-for-man marking system, but thereafter, the goals, in fact, pretty much all attacks, came courtesy of the fastest, fittest, Celtic team you have ever seen.

Who do you want standing behind an opponent? One of the wealthiest people in the land, or a “glib and shameless liar”? I’d rather the latter, thank you.

As well as being a tax convict, Dave King sat on the Rangers board for a decade as it spiraled towards liquidation. He sat on the board which failed to make provisions for the HMRC tax case – and it was this specific failure, not the tax case, which led to the club being sold to a liquidation specialist for £1.

He campaigned relentlessly against newco, oft repeating his vision of ‘competing with Celtic’, while many of us considered the club should prioritise paying its bills and living within its means.

It seems certain that at some point between now and Friday he will be in de facto control, although his eligibility as a director appears doomed, should rules be applied.

Some will celebrate whenever Mike Ashley’s men depart the scene, but this is in keeping with their many earlier celebrations. Here’s a prediction for you: go back and read what the LibDems said after their people got into cabinet. ‘Once we saw what was under the bonnet, it became clear we couldn’t do what we wanted to do’. I reckon you’re going to hear a version of that in the months to come. Even today, Dave King has no idea what Mike Ashley has left him. All we really know is that the representatives of one very wealthy man are about to leave the scene.

Thanks to everyone who has bought a ticket to the CQN11 St Patrick’s Dinner at the Kerrydale Suite on Friday 13th March. If you would like details, let me know, celticquicknews@gmail.com

  1. Reading the comments about RD and what were peoples thoughts surrounding his appointment before and after the season kicked off. I think most said Europe would be a long shot this year and would be satisfied with the league or a double

It looks like he may lead us to the treble in his first season ala MON

  7. Evening Celts,

Enjoyed the outcome of the game on sunday against our nearest title challengers.Aberdeen came and pressed well for the first 30/35 minutes.I am sure Ronny and the team are working on our ability to play second fiddle and soak up pressure. When i say this i mean stuff like first 15 against Inter, and the likes of Sunday where if Aberdeen where as clinical as inter we could have been clawing back a goal or two.Sometimes its as if the game starts before us,its a positive criticism. So how about a Turbo start Ronny?:-)

Goals coming from all over the park,my fav on sunday was GMS running hard at a defence and whammin it in aff the post.We controlled the game second half and bhoy is our superior fitness levels coming to fruition,

i passed CQN corner at 11.20 no one there, the rain was coming straight at me so just got inside and had a pie and bovril.

was listening to shorti with Stuart Cosgrove on Sat evening.a caller called in about the flares and the bigoted songs

When the caller was talking about the flares Stuart repeatedly pinned him down saying yes,but we know its Celtic fans

I dont have a problem with that as it is more than likely to be true.

My problem is that the singing hymn book of failure does not appear to have the same definitive truth about it.

That would probably be to old hat,and ‘its always been this way’ kack if Cosgrove said anything.

We all know its mainly one club who sing these songs(and their friends in cheat financing Hearts).

its interesting UEFA have sanctioned them for sectarian singin yet Campbell&co at the SFA have not.(open to be corrected).

  8. Ok folks.i dont post much at all.heres my view on ronny.

when he first arrived i was excited from what i had read of him.also because my club had finally decided to go down the hard but rewarding route of coaching and teaching players.we hadnt done that in decades.

it didnt go well to plan,i think the players also needed to beleive and credit to them they have and now we are watching a seriously good brand of football.the kind of football we sing on the terraces for is finally here.hail hail.. keep moving forward ronny.

POLICE in the United States have launched an appeal to the public to try and curb the amount of recordings of black people getting shot turning up online.

The plea comes after a video was posted on YouTube showing LAPD officers struggling with a homeless man in broad daylight before shooting him to death.

Officers responding to a burglary call in the impoverished Skid Row area of LA got into an altercation with a homeless man known only as “Africa”, before opting to end the struggle by the application of bullets to the heads.

The video, the latest in the “US cops shoot black people” genre, was met with fury from across the online community, which led the chief of police in Los Angeles issuing a heartfelt statement to the public.

“It is with great regret that I inform you all here about the recording of 6 of my officers shooting a homeless man turning up online,” said Mike Lockhard, wiping tears from his eyes.

“In these trying times, we would appeal to those of you with smart phones, tablets or Super 8 video cameras, to please refrain from capturing footage of our officers as they kill people on the streets. It’s really, really making us look bad folks. Knock it off”.

The killing in LA brings the number of black people shot to death by police this year to an unconfirmed amount, as everyone has kinda stopped counting at this stage.

I’d rather we weren’t faced with a straight cup double against the Arabs, but I’m glad we were smart enough to decimate their talent before we take them on.

Add the league game and beating them three times on the trot is a tall order, I think Jackie is a good manager.

Glass, evening. Obviously I wasn’t advocating violence, got to be careful with those FOCUS dossers.

Sipsini, Benny Hill is remarkably famous. He helped skelp the Commies, just like Chuck Norris.

Sandman, some good points but there is no excuse for wanting the head of a Celtic manager after a month or two.

Jo Venglos was mentioned. He was subjected to cheap abuse from primitive, ignorant and cheap Scottish hacks. Celtic, at that time, were the recipients of a vicious propaganda campaign from the Hunday Mail.

    Good night all.

but, I can see how people get neganon and I confused sometimes….. :)
