Celtic players’ participation in the World Cup ended yesterday as Efe Ambrose’ Nigeria were eventually overpowered by France. Baring injury, Efe will be in Champions League duty in Iceland two weeks from today, which leaves the player little scope to rest weary limbs for the season ahead.
The fitness management of Efe and Emilio Izaguirre throughout the season will need to take a different path from the rest of the squad. The search for cover for both players should be a priority.
It’s a pity for Dundee United, and for Scottish football, that Ryan Gauld seems on the verge of leaving for Sporting Lisbon at only 18-years-old. United have seen enough to know they have a genuine talent on their hands, but the player’s glory years all lie ahead of him.
United will continue to lose genuine teenage talent until they, along with other aspiring Scottish clubs, get a change of environment. If the Scottish Premiership folded into the English Football League structure Ryan Gould would remain in Tayside for years to come.

You got a good run for yer money anyway. Could easily have been a Swiss victory.
I can’t ever remember a decent game of football involving Switzerland. They really stink the place out. Although, Argentina were dire too.
Also, there is a tragic lack of facial hair in the Argentina squad. No headbands either. They are simply too clean-cut. We need a few wild men in there to get the team fired up.

I met her a few times during the occupation – her and salmond tried to court me to speak for the snp – no chance

The team is crying out for Tevez this tournament
My friends in Celtic,
I think the increase of negativity on CQN reflects the fiasco that is” Rangers”. To put it bluntly, we have discussed this to death as have the various media outlets; to no avail.
Deep down we all know they will be back in some grotesque form. Deep down we know the SFA want this. Sadly, It will happen.
I used to be undecided that if they came back; so be it; Now I hate the thought of being in the same league as them.
This is the underlying theme of negativity running through, not just CQN, but all Celtic sites.
We must try, try and try again to leave. It is not just an option, it is increasingly the only viable option.
Maybe I’m misleading the signs and the hints in Paul 67’s articles are fantasy but the future must lie away from the cheats.
HH, always in Celtic.

Quite a few of those SS types (and a good percentage of the money that they stole) ended up in Switzerland.

Hear Hear.
Not a great fan of Switzerland, myself.
Not just because of their “neutrality “during the war.
Sepp Blatter runs his empire from there.
Seven group winners have progressed to the quarter finals so far. Can the USA buck the trend?

Messi needs some help. Argentina are playing like a bunch of strangers, although some of that may have been down to Switzerland, who never seem to be involved in any decent matches.

Belgium is a good side, but they are not invincible. It’s won’t be easy, but it’s winnable for the USA. Particularly if Bradley manages a few passes to his own side …
Someone needs a word with Chris Waddle’s barber.

Aye that Switzerland’s a terrible place, too many Trims running wild in the valleys!!
Evening Timland from a stiflingly hot hun free mountain valley.
Saw the 1st haf of the Argentina game, turgid stuff, didny miss much by the sounds of things, glad Argentina are tho.
Hope the septics do the belgians.
So the two onnys are happy with what we have, don’t like the sound of that, if we fail to get to the CL it will be their fault and not the cheapskate’s with the money, nothing new there then.
They are on a bit of a hiding to nothing.

Was just thinking that – Ronnies Biggs love child :))
Tbj,
I mind Sarwar trying to claim he was in the mix at the of the end off our battle, pathetic what the politicians will try.
Could do with your union experiance in there just now…the management are running riot.
No doubt big paul will keep you informed…just glad I finish up for two weeks and then go nightshift.
JC retired and wee dave, who you wouldn’t have met…no many tims left that are vocal!
I thought the Swiss played well.
Don’t know how many of the team/squad are actually Swiss though (i.e., born there)?
Does it matter any more?

He should have been jailed for that Diamond Lights caper.
Not wanting to be sexist here- but the “tottie cam” is doing a great job in pin pointing lookers of many nationalities

Let’s hope this game produces some goals in the regulation 90 minutes.
Chris Woods spotted among the US coaching staff?!

“Chris Woods spotted among the US coaching staff?!”
Good to see ole Charles Green turning up as manager of Algeria as well.

I am talking about today’s performance. No doubt De Maria has ability or he would not be with Real.
His goal redeemed what was a dreadful display. Wee Maria from the local chippie Wd have played better. Like Fellaini. His great uncle was a Tim from Cleland, Jimmy Fellaini. He was good at the dominoes, too…NEVER DOWNED A HORSE .
HH
HT,
Have you sabotaged minx’s pix. :)
Ronny wants wingers. The GMS rumours may have some substance, especially as JC says we will be looking to buy Scottish.
Ronny Deila says the search has started to recruit more wide players for his Celtic side.
The new manager is on the lookout for reinforcements as he looks to guide the Scottish Premiership winners to their third successive UEFA Champions League group stage campaign.
With Derk Boerrigter and James Forrest amongst the current options for Deila, the Norwegian says he has identified the wide areas as a potential position of current weakness for his side.
“We are looking now,” Deila told STV. “We think we need especially in the wide positions we need more players.
“We have Derk [Boerrigter] and James [Forrest] who have had a lot of injuries.
“Then we have a lot of midfielders. So maybe in the wide positions is the important place to look at.”
bigshuggy
Sorry cant agree regarding di Maria’s performance today.
He was not great, but he was far from being dreadful as you say.
In my opinion of course.
Never seen wee Maria from the chippie play, so I cant comment if she is any good or not.
Fellaini?!
Dont get me started!
Now he IS dreadful.
In my opinion of course.

You’re seriously saying that associating the Swiss with banks is racist?
I suppose if you associate whisky production with Scotland, that’s racist too.
Nonsense like that undermines the fight against real racist behaviour.
And, for your information, the Swiss aren’t a race. Any insulting generalisation against them would be national prejudice. Now let me get back to watching the boring Belgians.
A quality wide man would be a welcome addition and glad to see that Ronny would appear to be looking in that direction.
Maybe he has concluded that wee Jamesie & Derk are unreliable.
Maybe he should give young McMullen a run to see how he does in pre season games?
Is Zaluska away yet?
If so or likely he will go a quality back up to Fraser should be priority for me along with a Centre back
