Feels like time for an inquest

626

It’s been so long since we lost a goal it feels like there should be an inquest today.  A couple of mistakes in a wide position, followed by two deflections, which confused Craig Gordon, and that’s all it took.  I’m OK with this.  We’ll make mistakes and lose goals, this is one of the better ways of doing so.

Of slightly more concern was how St Johnstone match us for possession and chances created or long period during the game, belying their bottom half of the table position, some 7 points shy of Hamilton.  Ronny will be keen to turnaround this specific ill for next week’s game against Accies, but the plan for Thursday will be altogether different.

Had a great time on Friday at the Irvine CSC, a very impressive club in the Ayrshire town.  Get along and support it if you are in the area, they are doing a lot of good work.  There’s no better way to prepare for a game against Inter Milan than to listen to Stevie Chalmers and Bobby Lennox telling you how it’s done, as they did at Irvine.

Thanks in particular to the man who put a bunch of tenners in my hand for Mary’s Meals.  What a club!

Big week ahead……

Her mother tries to talk her into letting me out, but a stubborn 6yr old girl is hard to get the better of, I take it as a compliment that she doesn’t bat an eyelid if her mother goes out but will not let me cross the door, she was born a couple of months after my own mother passed, she is her Gran all over the back….. Reminds of her every single day

re the German documentary about us and the now defunct club.

Is that the one where Waddell is being interviewed, the phone goes and gets irate when its not answered?

Waddell was very friendly with the late Sean Fallon and helped Sean obtain a memebership at Pollok Golf Club.

  6. Rhetorical

It really just struck me when watching it how daft it is. The scrums and the not passing it forward and the illegal ‘coming in from the side’.

Agree about Murrayfield. Had not been in it for a good few years until last summer and was very impressed by it.

Not a chance…. Her mother (Sevconian) loves football, although that is ironic since the mob she follows don’t even play football, my daughter says “I am a girl, I don’t like football” the closest I got was when Harry/Liam/Olly or whatever his name was pulled on the hoops, she has no interest in football, but she can hold a tune, her favourite ditty is “Let the People Sing”…. When it goes onto “hand in hand with my little daughter” she runs and grabs my hand, it’s a bit corny but makes me feel about 10ft tall

  14. Rhetorocal

Golf is obviously the stupidest and can be the most infuriating and even humiliating to play. And that rule i n the professional game where the players have to keep their partners score and sign for it at the end. If they did that in football Rangers would have won the 1957/8 League Cup final 1-0.

    “GLASGOW RANGERS

    PROTESTANT TRADITION

    ———-

    FROM OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT

Scotland is their place of work but home is

the Great British Isles. From Glasgow to

ulster, the loyal followers of the Royal blue

proudly march to Ibrox every other week

in rain or shine. Supporting their team

    dutifully and honourably.The devotion to

his Majesty King George VI and their

unrelenting faith is something to behold.

No other compares to the strength in their

belief. As a Protestant nation we must

always defend our rightful place as the

sovereign faith. We must respect those

that are less fortunate but we must try

and educate them away from their own

    rebellious ideals. The Ibrox faithful’s

duty is to the Crown and the Kirk and

should never be relinquished. Each and

every follower has his work to do. Keep

alive these proud traditions: the Rangers

tenacity of spirit, Protestant ideals and

the undying allegiance to the Crown. The

heathens may leave their doors open but

it is essential we remain steadfast and it

should be known around the world that

signing for the Rangers is an honour and

    has an unparalleled responsibility. Yje

ideals are part of this great institution so

they must never be forgotten and always

upheld. We are the Rangers, we are

    Protestant and proud of it.”

    Cue staunchness:

    “Great read

Once we get our club back we should reinstate the Ibrox church parade , that would really out the bigots in the media”

    ——

    “Thanks for sharing”

    ——

“Whether you follow a religion or don’t, it matters not, the fact is that it was the Protestant Reformation that set the British nation and its people on a course of tolerance and freedom of conscience that unleashed a hunger for individual rights that eventually spread around the globe.

That this Protestantism and its social mores created wealth into the bargain for Protestant nations cannot be a coincidence.

Ultimately for British people it was a social vehicle that inspired our modern democracy and the creation of a society that Roman Catholics and Muslims seem to flock to live within.”

    ——

“Wonderful words from all the posters here. I’ve always believed that our fine club started going downhill as soon as we let them become part of it.”

    ——

“In those days it was not frowned upon to support your Church and your Monarch”

    ——

“Did anyone else read that with a clenched fist.

We are prodestant and proud. For those that are not then you’re still welcome but you must respect our values and standard. We have set the bar high and we must strive to achieve the desired standards.”

    ——

“If it weren’t for protestantism there would have been no Age of Enlightenment.

I’m not religious, but protestantism, freemasonry and opposition to the catholics has shaped the world we live in today.

We should never be ashamed to uphold our protestant values.”

    ——

“the value many Rangers fans hold dear are forged by that very tradition. Hard work, honesty, an ability to question, helping others has all come from our tradition.”

Then that rare beast, a fairly intelligent monkey, reads the first letter in every line of the “newspaper article”!!

An Tearmann, I think Sean broke the mould for getting membership at Pollok golf club as a few of his Celtic supporting neighbours in Menock Road managed to get memberships there also.

At one time Roddie McDonald stayed right next door to the Fallons and Frank McGarvey stayed about seven doors up from him. We used to call Menock Road, Celtic Road as a lot of Celtic supporters stayed there also.

I was interested to read of you taking youths for football.

When I was at school I could play for school on sat morn, youth/guild/boysclub on sat afternoon.and a sun amateur league.3 solid games every weekend.

The teachers strikes kicked in and the goodwill given by them was removed and imo schools football deterorated

Can you shed light on who I would and would not have been able to play for if I was signed to a club?who am I allowed to play for? ((If I were a youth today)

Ohya! I just tried that and you’re right. And the prongs here have got rounded ends

Foghorn. I think you might be on to something here. Why on earth should women even be able to run round the table with your trousers round their ankles? i’d tie them tighter if I were you.

Another amazing statement from WW on that video. Football matters so much to the supporters that if they lose they go home and beat up their wives. Not a word or even suggestion of condemnation.

If anyone detects a hint of cognitive dissonance between the two previous paragraphs, it’s because one of them is serious and one of them is nonsense.
