Festival day for Celtic

328

There’s going to be a Festival atmosphere as Celtic make their home in Edinburgh for the first time tonight. With the away win already secured, and the opposition little more than tourists, we’ll see little of what Ronny Deila has in store for us this season.

Get through early, car pool, or take bus or train, and show Edinburgh what it’s like to have a great team make their home in the city.

Just did a quick bit of youtube scouting on Craig Gordon.

Bit of a Cat when he was in his pomp. Some of his reflex saves are quite breathtaking.

His injury issue focusses on the anterior cruciate knee ligament. He was advised by renowned surgeon Richard Steedman that for a goalkeeper, the easiest fix for this injury is to kick with the other foot.

And here he is. At Celtic.

  2. Well that makes it a lot easier, someone could have just said it was html code

“But I was originally” looking for the tabbed quotes so no idea if that will work

  3. connaire 12,

I felt similarly answering the questionnaire. I did so before I had the benefit of others pointing out that the questions were framed in such a way as you were presumed to support the Axct. I added at the end something to the effect that the Police overstepped themselves in enforcing the Act.

  4. I think Zaluska is capable but we almost always concede more goals when he’s in the sticks – often not goals he’s at fault for – we just seem to concede more. Perhaps it’s his command of the area, communication or just his positioning.

re the quote-y thing, if its for tweets go to “more, then click on “embed tweet”. Then copy the link they have in the box. Then paste it onto your post here in CQN et voila…..or it should be.

I see we are debating the price we should ask for FF.

Given that it’s our “strategy” to buy low, develop, and then sell, why does the club not agree a sell on value when a player signs a new contract? This happens at other clubs. Ryan Gould can be bought from Sporting Lisbon for e60m.

The club is free to accept an offer less than this figure but obliged to allow the player to talk to any club which meets the required price.

It would stop other clubs making derisory offers and unsettling the player.

  7. weeminger 16:28 – Ah’m in awe o ye. definite case o keyboard envy here in Rio.

beatbhoy 16:27 – No sure why Dunga. However, there’s always a “back story” where the CBF are involved and the fact that Gilmar was appointed as Technical Advisor stinks – to me. Gilmar played with Dunga at Inter RS, was in the same squad as Dunga in 94 and, up until this week had been making a living as a football agent.

As case of Follow the money, methinks

  8. I have to agree with the posters suggesting it may be the right time to sell Forster, like it or not he could win the CL with Celtic this year and his value would never exceed his current worth just because he’s sat on the bench for 3 England world cup games.

Bear in mind also he has 2 years left on his contract, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he requests a move next summer himself thus taking the initiative away from Celtic, he’s already made noises about wanting to play in the EPL. Right now we could probably get 8-10million for him and would be in a strong position to negotiate additional sell-on/international appearance clauses. By comparison Arsenal have just signed David Ospina, Columbian keeper and one of the stars of the world cup, for 3m. Ospina had only a year left on his contract, and this is what Celtic lose if they delay.

My worry, like many on here, is that I’m not currently convinced with the quality/robustness of the remaining goalkeeper options. Zaluska has looked competent without looking exceptional in the times I’ve seen him, and while Gordon looks sharp I’ll be wincing with every collision. However between those two options and the young lad (who looked decent the other day) I’d take my chances and bank the Forster cash.

  9. Right, aff tae Ryries.

Hope to see some of the CQNers there.

    Bada,

I tend to agree. We must give Ronny funds to try to enhance the team. Celtic should always strive to improve.

VVD has still to prove himself on the big stage, hence I don’t expect a big money move for him.

ger57- i think we would have a release fee for FF,clubs will know the price via an agent, the big game starts when they use the media for low bids to unsettle the player and try to get a deal lower than the agreed buy out IMO.HH

A good guide to what is available in WordPress (the software Paul uses) is here

The language is HTML. However, HTML you can use when commenting on someone else’s blog is very limited. Here’s a good place that gives a few basic commands:

    http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/05/23/html-allowed-in-comments-2/

Scroll down to the Explanations paragraph for Italics and Bold.

A see Weeminger is up and away with it already: bold italics man!!! :-)

    Evening Kojo.

A difficult balance must be achieved. Advocating a non sustainable strategy would be suicide but that isn’t being argued for. Sometimes one prospers by investing. The Porto model requires investment and not just stagnation.

I have generally been a staunch defender of the board but I feel that they can be a little more adventurous.
