It remains a possibility that Atletico Madrid will lose today’s league decider against Barcelona and next week’s Champions League final against Real Madrid (vernacular: ‘do a Hearts), but I hope not. The fact that they have pushed the two most celebrated football clubs on the planet to the limit, across two tournaments, is already remarkable. Should they deliver on two fronts, it will be the most stunning achievement in European football in 47 years.
There was a healthy amount of bloodlust for the Uefa Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules to fine the life out of the likes of Manchester City and Paris St Germain, before banning them from Uefa competition. This was never the point.
What Uefa have done is bring Europe’s two most freely spending clubs into line. FFP will restrict City and PSG’s expenditure, transfer market activity and squad selection. This is a result.
It’s a pity we’re not at Celtic Park to lift the Scottish Cup today. *!*!
Enormous thanks to Tommy Gemmell and everyone who participated in the entertainment here yesterday. Tommy thoroughly enjoyed the banter and will be back on the blog below this article early this afternoon to catch up with the questions he didn’t have time for yesterday.

That is a very good point well made.
Not a word of bitterness and all positive about the club.
Right, heading of to Cowiebhoy’s for ten minutes to deliver ACGR’s original painting of James Forrest after the goal against Karagandy, then back home for the dinner.
Nothing like a quiet life.
TNT well done on the horses yesterday — I started to put a bet on Dawn Commander, then got distracted and by the time I remembered it was 8:45pm and I was heading to the pub!
Yet another fortune that got away!

I tell you what, it may not be us today but that was a rather impressive display for the final.
Hope the football measures up.

Hearing the Oldco GK with the black armband got banjoed at a charity gig last night :))
Wasn’t too bothered about who wins the cup final today until I just spotted Wright for Saint Johnstone.

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer bloke. ( very charitable :))
Met him once, horrible person.
Great save DU keeper!
estorilbhoy agree on the Wright thing. Don’t like him.
BB
Excellent news! :)

No
But I saw intent in his tackle to do damage. And wee Dick wanted Paul sent off as well????
Really enjoying the game (shame the stadium isn’t full). First time in a long time that I can honestly say that I have absolutely no preference for either side.

You clearly have better knowledge of the incident than at least one of the two players involved so you’ll be correct. If it makes you feel better.
St. Johnstone keeper on the other hand looks like he’s got a ‘howler’ in him!

St Johnstone had a decent team & manager…
Hun skelper
U really think hes worth a million?

Would never condone the use of violence myself, but will make an exception in this case.
Is Stevie May any better than we’ve got ?
AB
he is better than Pukki Balde abd Derk
Eldiegobhoy…..
Albertz sure kissed that badge enough times for me to regard him a supporter of Deadclub. He ,is after all, from Germany’s twin town for Govan…..Hamburg.
Shame ‘The Goalie’ got his lights punched oot at a ‘Charity’ event last night…..probably trying to steal the bottle of coins on the bar to go white water rafting for Charity.
Feel sorry for a lot of skint ex players but NEVER will for him….Deserves everything he gets!!
We could have had a front 2 of Stevie May and Johnny Russell for less than £1.5 mil,and wouldn’t have done any worse than other strikers of the last few seasons IMO
Stevie May reminds me of the stoner down the park who sucked a few bongs then asked for a game..
