Early in the summer I said that to re-sign Kelechi Ineanacho would be an admission of failure that we were unable to scout a player better than one who was unable to compete for 90 minutes last term.
Then we were told the manager wanted him, while hearing that it was difficult to recruit players to Scotland (which is true). Kelechi was invited back, presumably because those privy to inside info on our recruitment plans believed he was better than our alternatives.
Celtic had an option to retain the player for next season, allowed it to lapse, provided Kelechi’s agent with a ‘Player in demand’ opportunity and saw him sign for Turkish side Bursaspor. Meanwhile, there is not a whisper from Celtic. Genuine incredulity among the fans is unanswered, I can only assume because explaining would not make things more palatable.
We will speak more about the direction of the club before the start of the season, but there is plenty to be alarmed about.

Champions league, yer having a laugh.
Getting our arse shown to us, we are really not good
Sean McCardle showing up well – he is very composed on the ball and has that gallus trickery. Looks like he has filled out a bit too. Duran looks faster than Maeda. McCowan has had a couple chances but wants too many touches.
Overall – end to end.
Mid go 1-0 up – look 2 yards offside . NO VAR
1-1 Duran Duran, cracker
Duran 1-1 . One ray of sunshine in the gloom
Scales need to be told not to run into the box when we are attacking – thats not his game and he leaves us short when they counter. its like pub football
Clever, incisive finish from Duran, high into the net at the near post. It looked to be deliberately placed rather than hit and hope.
Celtic TV being going through their Duran Duran cassettes and comes up with Duran in there with a view to a kill.
Duran better be careful, if he keeps this up he’ll be sold before the window shuts.
beautiful passage of football – Duran thrashes ball into roof of net . looked offside , flag stays down. Oxlade looks sharper
Isn’t that a goal every 30 minutes-ish for our new striker, equivalent to 3 goals a game?!
Great play and finish from Duran, all on our lhs….1-1
Chamberlain going off limping, Engels coming on.
Spoke too soon, says he wants to stay on.
Arne coming on for Ox ….picked up a knock?

Auldheid , I don’t read any of those

There are sites that try to look beyond the individuals on The Board and I have no problem engaging with them, but I thought the article by JH unwise which is a better opinion than a deliberately attempted to undermine trust.
Going back to my rant. Why dont the support pay for a full time all embracing organisation capable of engaging with Celtic on concerns supporters raise.
That comes from my nature which is taking responsibility to make something happen that I want to happen.
This blame game helps no one.
Celtic dont help by their silence and there are two conclusions
They are working away on meeting MoNs needs and are aware what positions need improved
Or
They have no clue what they are doing which is a narrative that is being voiced and raises concerns.
My position, a life earned lesson is “we’ll see” which of the above is true.
The Membership Service I put to Celtic for seed funding before running independently is in my opinion something that will meet current and immediate future needs better than the share dependent approach.
Just caught Josh Kerr breaking the World mile record at the ol’ Olympic Stadium in Stratford there, 3.42.66!!!
Amazing. Now home of the Hammers, got to be the biggest stadium in the EFL next season…..
Saw a wide screen shot of the park there just on HT, the 12,000 estimate looks generous. My memory isn’t great, what is a normal attendance for a pre-season game like this? Last summer, on July 19th, there were 49,000 for the game against Newcastle which we won 4-1.
Depends on who you are more likely to believe re the Kellechi affair……if today’s Herald report is accurate then no criticism of Celtic from me, agent agreed to Celtic offer….went AWOL and turns up a 3 year £47,000 pw deal over in Turkey! Good luck to all concerned with that deal, but does anyone on here, Paul67 included believe the Celtic Board were ever likely to match that, or that Martin would, do me and yourself a favour…..and get a grip on reality. Iconic player no doubt and helped us out last season when we needed him thank you.
According to Celtic TV, Osmand, Engels and Reo coming on.
JF, OX and Luke going off.
Absolutely right Celtic Mac. Near £2.5M per year for mostly warming the bench, with a few 15 minute cameos. And the 3 year contract makes that a total of almost £7.5M. We can do better with that money… and imagine the impact of that on the harmony within the squad.
Not for me. Thank you and goodbye Nacho.
Anyone seeing what new formational or stylistic change MON and crew have introduced ?
Aside, we look a bit slight compared to these Boro boys.
Celtic Msc ..of course not …but we had him already!!!!….only needed to trigger the clause
Now I’m not terribly fussed ….but its just more evidence of incompetence….
Oh and he’d be better than nobody
Celtic Mac
I’m not sure how these things work but I understand we had an option to extend KI’s contract by another year . If we had triggered that clause would he be contractually obliged to accept albeit on a much lower wage than the one being offered by the Turkish club?
Duran is a find.
McArdle playing well as is Jamsie.
Missing a good few players, but this team will struggle to win in Europe.
We look a far better team with Engles and Reo, pity they both go
DeniaBhoy on 18th July 2026 3:28 pm
Estimate is around 12,000 with 5-6000 Boro fans.
____
👍Saw a photo. Looks empty.
The Boro player at the back with the man bun looks like he knows what he is doing.
Think we were linked with Bror’s CF Strelec at one time.
He’s in Scalesy’s back pocket.
Meanwhile Osmand goes close twice in the x1 move !
Osmands head turns into a thruppeny bit. :)
Ayling; used to be at Leeds for yonks ?
Calum O. doing a John Kenny .
vinniethedog/glendalys
We had him……and now we dont
Lets now get another forward in….
I’m in Nice so wouldn’t have been able to attend but had zero intention of doing so , didn’t go to last years freindly v Newcastle although there was a huge crowd at that one.Since the club took 2 fixtures off our season tickets in one of their value for money schemes I decided not to attend friendlies.Last years Newcastle (Reform activists) match gave lots of fans who don’t have season tickets the chance to attend Celtic Park which was good for them I didn’t know any of my season ticket holder freinds who went. Middlesbrough don’t hold the same attraction? as their Reform voting neighbours but Celtic fans are clearly sending out a message to our pathetic board , its that bad even Paul 67 is having a go (glad he is ).
Perhaps we should change our post goal tune from Fiesta to Fiasco
TKZee version
Surprisingly catchy
WE won’t speak about anything Paul.
YOU will sidestep how wrong you have been for many many years, and how right so many of us have been. Sadly.
Mcgregor should leave (but hopefully not for a place like Saudi) and MON should tell them to shove it thus proving BR was not to blame.
The club is a joke. A mess. A laughing stock run by incompetent men.
I paid a£65 subscription earlier in the week for CelticPlayer which replaces Celtic TV. By the time I got into the game on Tuesday against Sporting it was the 52nd minute and on my iPhone. My iOS on my iPad was insufficient apparently. I spent 52 minutes exchanging Emails with Celtic Web Advice.
So today I borrowed my grandson’s much more up to date iPad which has a bang up to date adequate iOS for CelticPlayer. For the first half I only got a clipped picture of one third of the screen. I spent the whole first half exchanging Emails with Celtic Web Advice again. This time it was which browser are you using, which device, can you send us a photo of the picture you’re receiving on your device.
I had enough. Life’s too short. If you spend £65 you expect these things to work without too many problems. I cancelled my subscription and my money is now back in my bank account. I found the whole experience frustrating. The app was unwieldy and not user friendly. C’est la vie. I’ll just have to rely on updates from CQN. 🤣
A 5 million fee and a 5-year contract gets you a Balikeisha. Anyone think MoN and team can turn him into a player? Or is all hope lost?
Glenowen on 18th July 2026 4:33 pm
Catchy ? Yep , ‘fiasco’ has certainly caught on with the board
Balikwisha, sorry.
