Fifa, Keane, Davie Hay

And, they, gave us………. Davie Hay.  Enormous thanks to Davie Hay for coming onto the blog this morning.  It was great to read his responses on playing for and managing Celtic.  If you missed him, catch up from 09:44 here, you’ll enjoy it.

At the risk of commenting on Roy Keane when few of us know much about what happened last night….  I remain pleased we didn’t appoint him manager in the summer.  Very pleased.

Really disappointed at the outcome of the Fifa investigation into the awarding of the Fifa World Cups for 2018 1nd 2022, although, as I type that sentence, the reasons perhaps become clear.  As with all of these things, I’m specifically thinking about the Lord Nimmo Smith SPL inquiry here, football governing bodies ask the questions they want answered.  It’s not the independence of the investigator which is important, it’s who sets the scope of investigation.

You can get copies of Caesar & the Assassin, Billy McNeill and Davie Hay’s accounts of managing Celtic from Jock Stein’s departure until the appointment of Liam Brady, here.

Re Davie Hay yesterday. I liked your comment about us winning ten in a row had he stayed.

Gotta agree, but had to eff off to work before I could do so.

As COSYCORNERBHOY said yesterday afternoon,we have been guilty of treating many of our players badly down the years. Shame that it happened to Davie three times!

“I wish to register my disgust at your adulteration of an iconic image for your ‘White Stolen Skulls Print T Shirt’. The image is instantly recognisable by thousands as an appallingly adulterated version of a team photograph of the 1877 Rangers [RIP] cup winning team. Do your company not do any research at all or are you trying to appeal to a section of Scottish football fans who will delight in using this item to mock Rangers fans following recent, extremely well publicised events surrounding the club.

Do your company feel it is right to insult the memories of the men who founded Scotlands most succesful football club? I think the least your company could do would be to:

    a) Withdraw this item from sale.

    b) Issue an apology to the thousands of [Huns] you have offended,

    c) Offer any profit you have made from this item to the Rangers Charity Foundation or a charity of their choice.”

  6. I was at Italia 90 WC in Genoa . I teamed up with another Celtic Scots fan .Scots took over the city for a couple of weeks . There was the Costa Rica nightmare ,slightly unlucky defeat to Brazil in Turin and a good victory over Sweden. It was a crazy ,funny unforgettable experience and there was great craic a rapport with the Genoese locals. We made Italian friends who took us to places that tourists dont find and there were the girls too.

We decided to extend our stay to take in The Ireland -Rumania game.

The atmosphere in the city changed as the Irish fans arrived. They wernt so expeienced travellers in those days. They didnt mix with the locals like the scots. They took over the main square, our square. We went to the game and saw Packy save the penalty.

The celebrations after were ok but nothing like it would have been had it been Scotland.

Now I’m not so passionate about the international team as thats been somewhat killed by the SFA-hun cheating. Still be looking for a Scotland win even though I was born in England.

Is that Burton’s t shirt an actual huns club photo?

    ——

Sure is. You can just make out the names of some of the Gallant Bigoteers below the picture.

  8. Morning all.

That Burton’s t-shirt has sure cheered me up on a horrible day!

Bound to fly off the serves.

    …and the rails.

£12.80 at Burton’s online, I bet Ashley is wishing he had thought of it, he could have been coining it from both sides………….hey you don’t suppose……..No he wouldn’t ….would he?

  11. Lennon n Mc....Mjallby on

I will bet there will be more huns flash mobbing Burton’s than there was Sports Direct lol

  12. FromTheRockToEK on

As much as it would be great if the Burton’s Tshirt was a photo of the DeidCo, it is actually the Vale Of Leven team that beat them in the Scottish Cup in 1877.

But if they think it is them than brilliant.

They will need a new cause to chanse after teh State Aid claim was laughed out of court.

    Re the Burtons t-shirt.

Since they are always telling us that their club did NOT die,I don’t understand why they are getting their knickers in a twist.

    Maybe they’re paranoid? Hmmm,ironic.

  14. Craigellachie10 on

I see that they got a bye in the semi final how the heck did that happen? Perhaps the season had been extended and their opponents had gone on holiday? Same old SFA!

    WEET WEET WEET

Did you see the draw they got through to the final? Must have been Campbell Ogilvie’s grandpa in charge of that!

  16. Gordon strachan saying Celtic park will feel like home to the Irish team, why ?

It will be full of scots and half the Irish players wouldn’t have been there before so not really getting his comment.

Strachan has come out with some pish lately HH

  17. Having studied both team line-ups closely it certainly looks like the 1877 huns.

The ‘hooped (!!) socks and the star on the jerseys.

    HH!!

  18. The buttons t shirt really is very very funny.

Hun skelper the reason why strachan is spouting this nonsense is because he is encouraged by the media. Scotland is an institutionally sectarian country and she can’t help show her anti Irish bigotry when this match popped up. Included in that bigotry is the view that CP is irish and therefore to be despised and seen as other worldly.

When you hate Irish and catholics then you equate celtic with that hence they are viewed the same as the Irish national team.

Much of this bias is unconscious. Strachan isn’t even aware of it. It’s so deep in the scottish psyche.

  19. I forecast that there will be an apology from Burtons and that someone will be sacked. It’s the way of things here. No one can disrespect the huns.

  20. jamesgang

Just saw your post re taking jamesgang jr to CP.

    I envy you!

Nae sons for me! (A beautiful daughter!)

I did take my 2 nephews to CP quite often, although they had more fun playing hide and seek than watching the football!

The first game I took them to see was Charlie Nic’s first team debut, I think.

It was a Dryburgh Cup tie against Ayr United, we won 1-0.

    Anyway, enjoy!

They are not wee for long!
