At the risk of commenting on Roy Keane when few of us know much about what happened last night…. I remain pleased we didn’t appoint him manager in the summer. Very pleased.
Really disappointed at the outcome of the Fifa investigation into the awarding of the Fifa World Cups for 2018 1nd 2022, although, as I type that sentence, the reasons perhaps become clear. As with all of these things, I’m specifically thinking about the Lord Nimmo Smith SPL inquiry here, football governing bodies ask the questions they want answered. It’s not the independence of the investigator which is important, it’s who sets the scope of investigation.

I think, before we decide which of us has had their views brainwashed by the MSM and which of us are getting theirs from more reliable sources, it would be helpful to establish our positions. You have gone someway to doing so in your reply, though there is a lot of extraneous stuff that is not central to the point of issue. I will try now to make my position clearer.
The struggle to maintain Ukraine’s recently established autonomy from Russia is not part of the Cold War because the Cold War is over. Russia has joined the West in becoming a capitalist state, and is much more recognisable as such than is the Chinese version of democracy and capitalism. The Russians use control of state media to influence things for the establishment. the Chinese have exercised even stricter control, hence the Hong Kong protests (are the Umbrella movement just a Nato Cold War ploy or are they roughly the good guys?). The Cold War terminology refers specifically to post-WW2 terminology of Capitalism vs Communism; it does not fit the complexities of NATO Bloc vs… well, anyone. There is no Soviet Bloc in Eastern Europe anymore. There may be states who are economically dependant on Russia’s Oil and Gas, there may be attempts by Russia to fund pro-Russian interest politicians in state elections and vice-versa with the US, but this is closer to 19th and early 20th century geopolitics than it is to the specificities of the Cold War era.
That is my simple point. All I add to that is an appreciation of the Nationalist sentiment that specifically surrounds the Ukraine question. For some Russian Ultra Nationalists, Ukraine is still Kievan Rus, the heartland of the Mother Country and they do not approve of its semi-independent status or its full independence. Equally, there are some Rightist Ukrainian Nationalists invoking the spirit of The Cossack Revolts against Russian Imperialism who will have fascist tendencies. One thing is for sure, they are not playing Cold War politics and this minority grouping in West and Central Ukraine is not the vanguard for Nato politics or US interests. The vast majority of West and Central Ukraine want to be free of Russian domination. A majority of the Crimea and Eastern Ukraine want to re-associate with Russia (some of them are “plantation” Russians but they have been there a long time). The prospect of a two state solution may be reached but probably not before more bloodshed. The complexities remain that, within a country that voted for Independence, 2 sizeable enclaves, Crimea and Donetsk now want to reverse that process. I could invoke comparisons with Norn Ireland there but, as they have different religious, ethnic and imperialist contexts, the comparison would be as worthless as invoking the Cold War comparison in encompassing the many complexities here.
What I am sure of is that the views I hold and the views you hold are our own. Neither was swallowed from MSM brainwashing and neither comes with the imprint of cold solid unbrookable fact. Just as Serbia(and others) vs Croatia (and others) was not Cold War politics, neither is Ukraine. Both conflicts are influenced by the East:West split but they have a history which long precedes the brief period of Russian Communist rule which did not even last 3 score and 10 years.

Exactly, although SFA might argue not enough to go on based on media coverage. However there is the Takeover statement in early June that could not be missed as change of ownership would have to have been reported to SFA.
Regarding the theory that liquidation was always the aim, the news that four have been arrested might produce evidence to support that narrative although in the meantime the narrative that CW wanted CL money to keep them alive is supported by evidence.
Re Johnstone’s statement the timeline leading up to it suggests he was either not fully in the picture or was stretching the truth. Liability could not have been accepted any earlier than Oct 2010 and was in March 2011, which is why it appeared in those accounts published on 1st April 2011.
