Final act of Heroism from Craig Whyte

438

Just a few days after the Blue Knight’s offered Craig Whyte £500k for his shares in Rangers Our Hero sold to Charles Green, who is now owner of the embattled football club, for £2.  Craig has doubled his money in a year after buying Rangers for £1 last May, but as he accepted a bid for his shares a quarter of a million times smaller than that of the Blue Knights, curiosity has peaked.

For many months Celtic Quick News has billed Craig Whyte as the only show in town, that he would only sell to someone who paid his substantial asking price, or who was his proxy.  No one is suggesting Whyte has pocketed £2 for his trouble and dropped off the scene in a sudden bout of benevolence.  There is clearly tons we don’t know about this deal.

We’re grateful to Paul McConville for his research on Charles Green today.  I am sure Paul only spent a short time researching the subject but it was nonetheless a fruitful endeavour.

I may have missed specific reference to his security over Ibrox but Mr Green does not have the disposition of someone who owns a football club without a ground, so it would be reasonable to assume that Whyte’s security is now in the control of Green.  In time we’ll find out how these assets changed hands but I suspect nothing will be said publicly on this subject for now.

Craig Whyte did not start the Rangers crisis, he never had an EBT from the club and he repaid all of Rangers bank debt.  He has been enormously entertaining during his 53 weeks in charge and, from the little information provided on the 20-or-so mostly-anonymous venture capitalists who now own Rangers, he has passed the club onto what looks like an equally rewarding group of people.

If nothing else, he parted ensuring what is left of the club didn’t get into the hands of the Rangers support, accompanied by a pushy investor with deep pockets.

Cheers for that, Craig.  Once this blows over, we need to get you in for the Paradise Windfall.

I’m still freezing.  Hug a radiator CSC.

  4. Stringer Bell, the next show is the Company Voluntary Arrangement. I cannot see this happening (will talk in more detail tomorrow) but we are in for a few days of hope.

Wednesday SHOULD see the SFA appeals panel reaffirm Rangers punishments. We’ll see.

Many more developments could happen but I suspect it will be the following week, not this coming week, that will see most interesting developments.

    long haired yins man, perhaps.

32 league titles for Real Madrid, 20 second places.

Barcelona have won it 21 times and been second 23 times.

Atlético Madrid have won nine league titles, but not since 1996.

Athletic Bilbao have won eight, but not since 1984.

Valencia have won six, but the most recent, although it seems recent, was in 2004.

Real Sociedad won two leagues in 1981 and 1982.

Deportivo La Coruña won it for the only time in 2000.

    Seville won it in 1946.

Their city rivals Real Betis won it in 1935.

No one else has ever won the Spanish league.

Lennie – got consistency out of Sammi, Rogne and even loovens. Got Commons back to his best , made FF a different player, got a settled first year out of vic and let Charles flourish, broonie back to his best, JF outstanding many times and made PL’s strategy work.

Suppose the deal falls through now. Green already has Whyte’s shares, bought them for £2 (apparently he thinks this gives Whyte a 200% profit, what that says about his busniess acumen I’ll leave it to others to judge)

What then? It’s just even messier than before isn’t it?

Do you believe that ‘The Green man’ will

A: Manage to pull a CVA out of the bag and thereby shaft the British tax payers out of millions of pounds?

B: Include in the CVA any amount owed from the ‘big tax’ case?

C: Will the SPL have the testicles to impose punitive sanctions on Rangers (IA)?

D: If they get away with it why should anyone else pay their debts in full?

Another charade. I’m sure I heard on Shortbread that Green rocked-up in the away dressing room and addressed the players, “hey, I’m not Craig Whyte.. Blah blah please stay”

The ingenuity of Duff £ Phelps to extract every last penny out this process is breathtaking. This fiasco will take a week or so to unravel …. my 14 May 2012 liquidation day prediction looks doomed , unless the security staff rumour for Ipox has legs.

The things to look out for are the floating charge and the Ticketus contract.

If the SPL investigation finds evidence of two contracts then everything else should pale into insignificance, they must be expelled from the SPL, and the SFA should do likewise, cheating on that scale is unprecedented.

IMO Whyte’s share sale is a good indication of there being minimal potential upside remaining for any owner of RFC(IA) – one of his terms was probably an indemnification against actions by Ticketus when liquidation hits – he can now quietly disappear off the scene with whatever gains he has syphoned away – it would be unsurprising if his chain of holding companies now suddenly start folding

Basically if Whyte is walking away there must be nothing left on the carcass
