Final day to appeal Lord Glennie decision set to expire

1163

Charles Green, like Whyte and Duff & Phelps before him, is asking for admittance to the SPL on the basis that Rangers FC is a distinct entity from its legal identity.  While this theory has been strongly advocated by SPL chief executive, Neil Doncaster, by necessity, if you claim the football benefits of being ‘Rangers’, specifically player registrations, you also inherit Rangers penalties.

Although Rangers clearly won their challenge to Lord Carloway’s 12-month ban on player registration at the Court of Session last month when Lord Glennie referred the matter back to the SFA Appellate Panel, as the full ramification of the decision became clear to Green, who then had an irrevocable contract to buy Rangers or its assets, he floated the idea that he might appeal.

The SFA, correctly, decided not to instruct the Appellate Panel until the 21 day period when an appeal can be raised, which elapses today, has passed, just in case Green tells Lord Glennie he’s got it all wrong.

All this has been terribly confusing, not to mention expensive, for Scottish football, but with yesterday’s news that Rangers have a prima facie case to answer for subverting Scottish football for over a decade, the obstacles before Green are clearly insurmountable.  There is reason to believe we can quickly reach some clarity.

The SFA must, without delay, convene the Appellate Panel to consider Lord Glennie’s instructions and apply an appropriate penalty on the various legal and ethereal bodies which claim to be ‘Rangers’.  If the Appellate Panel suspend or expel what is left of the football club from the SFA, as must surely be expected, all questions about fan pressure, morals and votes become moot.

In this case, history will record the folly of Green’s appeal to civil law as the act which finally killed off any chance of ‘Rangers’ surviving, conveniently letting the SPL off the hook, while Green would be obliged to dispose of the stadium for a modest return to those capable of forming a genuinely new football club at some point in the future.

  2. I was listening to the BBC World Service this morning about 4.30. There was an item about the Irish support at the Euros. The item began with the Fields being sung. There was no criticism of it; quite the contrary. The support were also portrayed quite affectionately as people who went and enjoyed themselves, watching their team play. They were applauded as being humourous and friendly to everyone. I thought of us and how we are regarded sur le Continent and contrasted that with the press we get here……Hmmmmm

  3. Hi Paul,

”In this case, history will record the folly of Green’s appeal* to civil law as the act which finally killed off any chance of ‘Rangers’ surviving, conveniently letting the SPL off the hook,”

It is incredible that RFC’s various helmsmen over the last decade (at least) have had one thing in common, failure to deal with claims of wrong doing in anything approaching a responsible manner.

D&P’s failure to cooperate with the Dual Contract investigation in a timely manner has lead to an uncertain yet potentially terminal charge hanging over them when clarity is most required.

Now Lord Carloway who has become mired in this process due to Mr Green taking the unprecedented steps of going to the CoS is set, with the Appellate panel, to hand down penalties on very grave disrepute charges.

As things become critical and ”the various legal and ethereal bodies which claim to be ‘Rangers’ reach the most perilous time of their whole existence, they have unwittingly ensnared themselves in a lethal pincer movement that their their worst enemies top strategyn could not have contrived.

*It should be recorded for posterity that this Action was funded by RFFF.

I remember Paul67 did a wee article explain the difference between how we have evolved and how they have evolved (I know, I know) but Paul’s article was succinct, factual and even a newt could understand it.

It would be great if Paul could post his wee article again so all Celtic Supporters can explain to the newts, in very few and wee words, the difference between our corporate path and theirs. (please Paul, don’t mention liquidation).

There’s no such thing as a rangers fan any more however going back before the club died, rangers football club punished it’s own fans.

ex rangers fans still don’t accept that they have supported a fraud for more than the last decade. More than ten years of their lives have been wasted allowing a lie, deceit, moral bankruptcy to dictate how they live their lives.

They should be happy that they are now free of their shackles and that the fraud has been exposed for what it is.

We have known for years that rangers were financially corrupt. All the evidence was there for the rangers fans to see. Their response was to shout ‘We ur the Peeepul’ even louder and put it all down to a fenian fantasy.

  7. had a few interesting conversations with fellow tims, over the weekend. it seems that a few of them are wanting about 10M spent on new players to “finally crack europe”

they all want newco in div3.

BUT, a couple of them are looking to loan their ticket out for this season, due to the uncertainty of whos playing !!!!

my take on it is slightly off piste… and no doubt ill get “Hunned” for it…

we are not spending any money on transfers, the minute newco arent allowed in, PL will tell neil to blood the young uns..

how many fans will try and loan out their tickets for a season at least ??

where is the excitement coming from ??

our players will want to move on…

there are 3 types of reasons why good players sign for celtic

  14. Celtic Supporters Association calls Emergency Meeting to vote on Selective Boycott.

The Executive Committee of the Celtic Supporters Association met last night to discuss the possibility of a Newco Club being admitted directly into the SPL for the coming season 2012/13.

It was decided unanimously to call an Emergency Delegates Meeting of our branches this coming Sunday May 24th at 1pm in our London Road Social Club.

The EC will be putting forward a motion that states “The Celtic Supporters Association will call on all its members to take part in a selective boycott of any club which votes for a Newco to be admitted directly into the SPL for the coming season 2012/13”.

This has been a very emotive issue for all football supporters in Scotland, we have to decide whether sporting integrity should take precedence over commercial interest, and in the opinion of those supporters canvassed by us up until now that is the case.

We understand the need for chairmen of clubs to balance their books to the best of their ability, but that must be done by operating in an honest and fair market, one or more club’s can’t be allowed to operate with an unfair advantage.

We are calling on all Chairmen and CEO’s in the SPL to vote for honesty and integrity, a clear and appropriate punishment must be imposed on any club who fail to operate in that manner, irrespective of which particular club that happens to be.

The Celtic Supporters contribute a considerable percentage of the finances generated within Scottish Football; we will not continue to support clubs who put their own interests before the basic principles of sporting integrity.

  19. Snake Plissken on

About the Rangers fans having suffered enough:

Last season Rangers did not pay PAYE and TAX nor did they honour payments on players in their first team which allowed the club they follow to finish second in the league AND also it allowed them to create a 15 point gap over Celtic in October. Had they managed to steer on in this fashion using their ill-gotten gains they would have won another title despite their cheating.

Their fans would have come out with the nae dough 4 in a row nonsense they peddled for 3 previous years while their club had player on their books that were unpaid for by the pre- Whyte board.

The Cardigan done a runner for a reason – he knew what was coming and put it all onto McCoist – dignity indeed.

Furthermore, by “spending” money on players in 2008 they were capable of paying for these titles and cups when it was patently obvious they could not afford them – one more act of charity from the Old Banks before the financial crash a few weeks later.

Alastair Johnston admitted that the Champions league monies they received paid off transfer fees outstanding on several of the playing squad in 2010 after enjoying two years of titles without them being paid in full. They were cheating then as well while lording it over the rest of us while their lapdogs told tales of Walter Nosurname doing all this without having spent any money – ironically they were actually correct on that but not in the way they meant.

Instead they kept on winning with a false economy which included a spend of 8M pounds in the summer of 2010 alone on players (who are to this day still not paid off – Jelavic and Weiss for starters) which their fans lapped up all the while laughing and mocking (with their usual level of vitriolic self-entitlement) Celtic supporters in particular but every other side’s supporters in Scotland and essentially sticking two fingers up at sides in Europe at the same time as the team they had on the park was:

    A. Not paid for in full

    B. Owing millions of pounds to banks, other football clubs and other parties

    C. still receiving the EBTs in the process – Davis, Ratboy Novo and Papac for starters

And it looks like they never intended to pay for their success in the normal way. They as a club were special – they were the peepel.

So lets be clear, their ignorance and lack of acceptance (which is still evident today) of their crimes against the game and other clubs is evidence enough that they have not been punished enough and they deserve every single thing coming to them.

    If they:

Wanted Craig Whyte to take over

    Cheered for him

Wanted the BBC picketed after the first Daly documentary

Thought the tax case was all timmy rumour and conspiracy

Did nothing to save their club

    Went marching with Sandy Jardine

    Deny Rangers are dead

Attempted to intimidate fans and representatives of other clubs verbally or physically

    then

They deserve everything they are getting and those are the things they did wrong to deserve it.

This is a ‘revelation’ coming from Huns of a certainb age – i.e usually no older than mid-thirties.

These risible and cringeworthy numpties, having only really discovered how to read in any depth and concentrate for any length of time since the Hun crisis sparke dthem into reality, actually think they have ‘discovered’ some hidden secret – their Ark of the covenant – regards Fergus and the events of 1994.

I’ve seen the diatribe repeated over facebook pages and their forums. Encouraging each other to repeat it like a mantra.

Funnily, threads devoted to it are usually peppered with the disdain of older Huns, who were out of nappies during that time and know exactly what happened, telling them the truth.

But, brilliantly, these frothing young ingenues have neither the wit nor wisdom, nor will it would seem, to pour (holy) water on their new mythology. It truly is becoming the most embarassing bit of Hun revisionist whataboutery ever seen.
