Find how best to use Scott Brown

815

Neil Lennon will be delighted to have secured his captain, Scott Brown, on a new long-term contract which sees the player tied to the club until after his 30th birthday in 2015, with the club having an option to extend the deal by a further 12 months.

Scott joined Celtic in 2007 and played central midfield until last season, when he was occasionally used wide right, to great effect.  Reflecting some of the conversations we had earlier this week with Georgios Samaras, who has recently been a revelation wide-left after years of frustration as part of a front pairing, Scott seemed to revel in the space the wider position allowed him to exploit.

Before joining Celtic Scott made his name playing almost as an auxiliary striker at Hibernian, where he would burst into the box with well-timed runs but at Celtic he is more commonly anchored in a defensive midfield role.  As a consequence, despite having played more games for Celtic than Hibs, and playing for a team who attack far more often, he has still to match his Hibs goals scored total at Celtic.

    Year built: 1926 (renovated in 2009)

    Who plays there: FC Metalist Kharkiv

    Did you know? Locals call the Metalist Stadium the ‘Spider Arena’ because its external supporting pillars make it look like a giant arachnid. The south stand contains a three-storey shopping mall and office complex.

    :-O

    Does anybody ever think CP looks just a tad, erm, ‘functional’ sometimes?

    ====================

    dirtmac, some of those stadiums look space-age from the OUTSIDE.

    Celtic Park is still one magnificent arena from the inside, which is where it matters. Moreover, when our support are in full voice, our arena is unsurpassable, IMHO :-)

    On another note….is all ok with Oldtim67? Had a couple of voicemail’s from him on the day of the Atheltico game but I think he’d dialed my number by mistake.

  10. EDB- Yes- though not his best position, the option is Ki in there but for tomorrow I’d rather see more dig in centre mid.

    Ki to come on to stretch things in 2nd half- just like he did at Inverness.

    This is really awful. Good taste has left the building and taken a holiday. Dignity has gone into re-hab and will never recover any self esteem. The reek of shame and bad taste hangs over the whole project. I suspect Rev McCurry is conducting the Sally Army choir and wee Naisy is singing the soprano parts to save on expenses. Sone Aluko funded the whole project.

    Bringing the young lad to the game on the 28 December. I could have gone with some guys, but they are leaving on the 3.30am sailing on the morning of the match which is a 7.45pm kick-off and they are staying over.

    Too long for the young fella in my opinion. I could do the bus/boat thing myself but need 2 tickets.

    However, I would have no problem going over with a club who were leaving on the lunchtime sailing and coming home on the late sailing after the match.
