Find how best to use Scott Brown

815

Neil Lennon will be delighted to have secured his captain, Scott Brown, on a new long-term contract which sees the player tied to the club until after his 30th birthday in 2015, with the club having an option to extend the deal by a further 12 months.

Scott joined Celtic in 2007 and played central midfield until last season, when he was occasionally used wide right, to great effect.  Reflecting some of the conversations we had earlier this week with Georgios Samaras, who has recently been a revelation wide-left after years of frustration as part of a front pairing, Scott seemed to revel in the space the wider position allowed him to exploit.

Before joining Celtic Scott made his name playing almost as an auxiliary striker at Hibernian, where he would burst into the box with well-timed runs but at Celtic he is more commonly anchored in a defensive midfield role.  As a consequence, despite having played more games for Celtic than Hibs, and playing for a team who attack far more often, he has still to match his Hibs goals scored total at Celtic.

  4. Now Broonie has signed I reckon we must be losing a couple of midfielders in January.

We have Broonie, Forrest, Ki, Kayal, Ledley, Commons, Wanyama plus young Dylan and Samaras on occasion, so I can’t see a place for Paddy except as an impact sub.

I would reckon that a bid for Ki (£4M), Paddy (£500k) or Commons (£1M) would be accepted.

I also reckon that Celtic plc would love to get a bid for Cha, Loovens and Mark Wilson, while El Kaddouri will be sent back at Christmas.

So a goalie, a centre back and Diawara would be very nice Christmas presents.

Your prediction came horribly true, the penalty being the difference between one point and three, the fix goes on..

  6. I liked when the ref insisted several times that Goian walk over to him at his booking, and when he didn’t he instead walked over to Goian. Strong refereeing ….

  7. My Hex on them is working…………. last 3 games I’ve bet their opponents @+2 to win. Got 7/5 the Pars!

On where do we play Scot Brown debate in tough away matches like tomorrows game I would start with Brown wide right later in the game I would replace him with young Forrest. We all know Broonie is a competitive player he will soften up defences for young James to finish them off.The Rangers were very lucky an o.g. and a very soft penalty and they hung on to win 2-1 so we need to win tomorrow.H.H.

Scott Brown is one of our more effective players. He has an effect on every game in which he plays. I for one did not want to lose him half way through the season, or him being resigned to leave with half a season to go. Neil Lennon has a committed player, and Celtic retain residual value, which depending on form and fitness could be substantial. Forget about who we are going to leave out the team, the only people being left out are already on loan to other clubs. They now must be moved out. The first team squad needs to be full of as many effective players as possible, and added to only in areas where we can genuinely strengthen the team. The midfield is not one of them. But do not assume that, at a time when we are looking to win our first league title since 2008, we can afford to sell any of our midfield players, we cannot, we need two for every position there and we will very rarely have that. We lost two only this week, Ledley, who has been covering at left back, and Wanyama. Brown walks in to the team tomorrow, inside right of a five man midfield with Forrest alternately going wide, or cutting inside. Any other questions?

I know the feeling. CQN coupon today, 6 games today and Everton tomorrow. 5 of the 6 win today, Southampton (top) Vs Doncaster (bottom) Doncaster won. I picked that game.

However, Brighton scored in the last minute and gave me another line: Shrewsbury, Leeds, Brighton and Sheffield Wednesday.

    Keep the Faith!

    Hail Hail!
