Finding a keeper should be the easy part of the week

449

I think we all got that sinking feeling when we heard it was a knee injury, which kept Craig Gordon from appearing in the second half on Saturday. So news today that the player hopes to be back this season is a great relief. It still, however, mean we need to make moves to secure a replacement.

Dorus de Vries did well on Saturday, in particular with his distribution from feet, but we cannot play have a season with only a 37-year-old keeper. This will be causing some stress at Celtic Park right now but it should not be too difficult a position to fill. Fraser Forster was fifth choice at Newcastle when we loaned him.

There are plenty of clubs with three or more good keepers. My preference would be to get someone with the profile of Fraser; someone we could mould with an eye on a future permanent move, but I suspect this is likely to be a risk-averse appointment and we’ll get someone the manager is confident can do the job.

Resisting the temptation to talk about Charly for now. There’s lots to say on the subject, but let’s wait for things to formalize.

So many people criticising the “lack” of transfers in over the last few weeks. Brendan has repeatedly spoken of bringing in quality. The type of player he wants has to be convinced that coming to Scotland will enhance their career, this takes time. Would they rather we signed guys like Murphy, Cummings and the rest? well done Celtic. hopefully a few more to follow. hail hail!

Welcome , Charly, i hope you have the same impact a previous wearer of the 67 shirt. A certain V Wanyama , had at Celtic.

….looks good and no doubt I have left some others out ( apart from Mikel Lustig who, I feel, has seen better days.).

Will the old Charly , Charly chant of the 1980 to 1983 chant be heard again at Celtic Park?

Lustig is a far better right back than Boyata. Boyata isn’t a right back. I’ve been critical of Lustig recently but didn’t realise he’s been playing for much of the season with an Achilles injury. And hardly missed a game until Saturday.

I have no doubt Brendan takes Sevco as seriously as a team second in the Table are entitled to be taken.

    This signing feels good.

    Goodnight all.

  7. I see the Huns have announced Danny Wilson has left and tried to bury it under the Musonda story.

That’s another bed at West Bromwich A & E filled on a semi permanent basis

  9. Gin hat on, or even Tin hat, I thought Boyata did fine at RB on Saturday.

    Musonda, wwoooooffftttt! Excited!

  10. Surely there are good players in Europe, who with our budget , could do a turn for Celtic,They our club talk a good talk, with scouts all over the world, but I suppose it’s what we can afford,I’m sure the money we have is earmarked for The Hotel,The Superstore,a new ticket office, also the pitch, and hopefully hot water in the toilets, and better food outlets, especially the Main and Front Stands.and I will say another thing, the Facilities for the many many, women supporters, Toilets, etc is an absolute disgrace,

    Dembele to Brighton

We tried to bring in quality but couldn’t

Rogic unhappy and wants to leave

    Biscuit Tin alive and well.

    Slump continues

    Rodgers has lost the plot

    We are regressing

Rodgers and Griffiths have fallen out

Just some of the doom and gloom thats been mentioned on here during this month’s slump

Oh and as for Sinclair….I will drive him to the airport myself

  12. Happened to catch 2 different parts of the Clyde phone in,

all it was was how strong the Huns are becoming and how

they are a couple of players away from challenging,

indeed in case you dont know Celtic are twitching already

  13. So I guess at least we have someone in with what appears to be some talent.

But a loan and as I understand it. A really expensive one too?

Wonder how Paul will explain this one?

And where is the real investment in making us better?

Still nowhere good enough Celtic. Nowhere near it?

I was a big fan of Mikel but I feel his body is suffering the effects now. I hope I am wrong.

Boyata is not a natural right back but I felt he played very well in that area against Hibs and I do rate him more than most seem to.

    Anyway, definitely off now.

Just noticed that story about Danny Wilson myself

    Thought it was strange

  16. Just realised Carson was Gordon’s understudy at Sunderland. Gordon was praising him earlier in season particularly with the ball at his feet.

  17. WITS- The huns want cash now for anyone, no loan fees paid until May when ST money is in, Windass and Morelos will be getting hawked round the Championship just now

Supposedly £1.2m max over 18 months and a £10k per week contribution to wages. For a player who’d probably cost minimum £8m, if Chelsea wanted to sell (which they don’t). What’s not to like? You can never see a positive in anything Celtic, always the negative.

Cqn good night n god bless

Hope wee hammer the hartz the morra, watch wee sleekit Naismith leave the boot in with one or two late challenges on Kieran & co

  20. Yes I am 100% serious.

I hope this boy is great and we get some benefit. But with add ins it seems we will pay over 1 m for an 18 month loan.

I thought we were supposed to be building?

I do love all this hysteria. We finally got someone in. Yeah. Woah. Wow.

Meanwhile we have so,eh serious squad issues to address.

This childish uphoria really is unbecoming. We have two days of the wiindow left and your ejaculations are premature.

  21. I can’t think of anything worse than being a Tim or a former Celtic supporter whatever way you want to describe yourself and being unable to see anything good in anything Celtic do, to constantly decry ever thing the club you used to love does.

Bitterness is a very strong poison…

  22. Charly Bhoy – welcome to the biggest club you’ve ever played for.

You have the world at your feet,

please don’t let it go to your head.

We should start taking Murty’s marvels a wee bit more seriously than we have up until now. They are a poor team but Murty is getting results. No time for complacency. Hh

Spot on sir . However , if we had the celtic team we had last season ,the new lot over there wouldn,t bother me . A few of our star reformers last season have not shown up this term . We keep waiting on them finding the form of last season .so far hasn,t happened . Still a bit soft in midfield ,as tomorrow night will show . Still we have broonie . And thank god for that .
