Fit squad needed as Valencia return to top half of table

184

When we stopped for the winter break, I hoped to have Kieran Tierney, Tom Rogic and Odsonne Edouard available for the resumption of league duty tomorrow evening.  Tom remains at the Asian Cup with Australia, where he will face the UAE on Friday, but doubt remains over when we will see Kieran and Odsonne fully fit.  The latter is thought to be over his injury and just needs sharpness, but we had a false dawn on his fitness a month ago.

There are only three weeks before Valencia arrive in Glasgow (game sold out this morning).  The Spaniards have hit form since drawing Celtic in the Europa League and are now only six points off a European spot for next season.

Now in the top half of the table, having dispensed with relegation worries.  Progress against Celtic will be their objective for February.  A place in the last 16 is achievable, but we will need all resources available.

Lads my wife came very close to meeting her maker today. She said to me look after her… Our daughter..

She told me that she felt she was riddled with C.

I could hardly stop the tears.

Waited 3hrs, 3 fn hours till the surgery was done.

Consultant called me at home – shit myself.

She could not see any sign of C.

Get the full results next Wed.

God love my missus an Airdrie Prod who I love and would die for.

    ————————

Leftbackagain- that’s terrible news. I hope next Wednesday brings better news.

Having went through the big C with my wife I know how you are feeling, keep fighting the fight.

I found some solace in prayer, although I had fallen away from going to chapel/church.

The most important thing is to talk to your wife, and keep reminding her and the family how much you love and support her/them and to stay strong as a family.

It is good to get someone to talk to and let them know how you are feeling, someone to listen to your issues, don’t bottle things up.

Even if it’s on here, get it all out, you will feel slightly better, and stronger for your wife.?

Good luck and God Bless, you will all be in my prayers tonight.

  9. Bring on the Buddies of Paisley.

Have we got a team or are they all injured.

Also what’s happening with our custodians request to meet Maxwell and Fleming?

Have they just fobbed us off again, it’s getting tedious Celtic (Constant pish taking) from authorities.

    Anyway, 3 points tonight please.

Got to agree with P67, a fit squad is needed for Valencia. It would be great to achieve that, of course, such things are difficult to control, a fit for purpose squad would be my ideal.

Apologies for harking back to Monday…

    AULDHEID on 21ST JANUARY 2019 1:13 PM,

“Actually the new Compliance Officer was unable to access the email account of her predecessor for technical reasons and a copy of our letter of 25th June 2018 had to be sent to her again in October after a reminder to her that no reply had been received to the June letter.

    Incredibly unprofessional by the SFA.

Well some might say that, I couldn’t possibly comment

    but I will.

Is it a coincidence that her predecessor left after making non compliance charges that excluded the very reason he was introduced to proceedings after the Craig Whyte trial?

Reasons that would have remained secret but for a stroke of luck in late May 2018 that led to the June letter.

If what has been going on had been a work of fiction you would not believe it, and with every page that is turned it becomes clearer Scottish football is based on fiction.

They really should close that book and start one that can be found in the True Stories section before enough folk understand what section of the library they are in.

That’s certainly interesting, I seemed to remember when Mr McGlennan’s resignation was announced in the wake of his raising of charges against Rangers FC with respect to their 2012/13 UEFA Licence – there was a statement about a transition period to ensure the new Compliance Officer was briefed and up to speed…

    https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/sfa-compliance-officer-tony-mcglennan-12686961

Now, checking back, it seems like as if the SFA claim this indeed was the case…

…will begin her new role later this month and “engage in a handover period with the outgoing compliance officer”.

    https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/sfa-appoint-clare-whyte-new-13099283#

It seems if there was a handover then the ongoing JPDT cases must surely have been one of the top priorities… in fact, I believe this is the only live Tribunal at the moment, though hard to tell from the SFA Website, so a complete and thorough handover should be expected.

We can only hope Ms Whyte has more support to do her job properly than her predecessor.

Going back further, when you think of the case presented to the SFA JPDT in early 2012 regarding Rangers misdeamours, we can see the case presented, was comprised, partial and biased.

The case presented by the SPL to the LNS Commission was just downright woeful; amateurish, partial and pointless.

Ms Whyte comes from the PF’s Office and should be able to build and present a case worthy of the brief. Lenny seemed pretty impressed with her during discussions at the referees sum’it, so, hope springs eternal!?

HOT SMOKED on 21ST JANUARY 2019 4:44 PM,

If that is an accurate account, it is dreadful.

We will soon no more about it. The MSSM will not let such an opportunity go unexploited

    ————-

My mate in work as is an Airdrie supporter and he went with his ten year old son to the game.

He told me of the trouble blow by blow and sadly that’s how it happened.

Yep, we have our share of hooligans too.HH

    STARRY PLOUGH on21ST JANUARY 2019 4:45 PM,

Might be to obvious but why are they not taking it up with the police who stopped them from proceeding?

Of course not knowing what actually happened but seeing video footage and reading comment before the AST Statement, when I copied and pasted this to CQN my hope was it would give Celtic supporters the right to reply…

SIPSINI seems to clarify what my current thoughts on this are, that the AST’s statement is accurate.

Yet why indeed would they not raise it with the Police rather than the Airdrieonians’ Board?

And why mention opposition fans leaving the pub shortly before the incident?

Even the SMSM wouldn’t be so bold as to go with…

Shock as Scottish Football Fan(s) visit Pub pre-match headline.

Yet for me the sad thing is what I’ve read in CQN comments and from other prominent Celtic Bloggers.

It’s tantamount to accessory in this case…

One was read before AST issued their statement, it basically stated if right wing thugs want to target, Glasgow, Celtic, Celtic Park then they’re due what’s coming to them… well, we can have some sympatico with that – but too an extent.

Another was dissing the AST as an unknown entity that came out of the woodwork, presumably to blacken Celtic’s good name.

Well the Airdrie Supporters Trust is a well established, well thought of group who do much to raise funds and the profile for Airdrie FC and charities. Often featuring famous celebrates with Airdrie Jerseys. The fact that a prominent Celtic Supporter, presumably not from Airdrie hadn’t heard of them before is neither here nor there, he could have easily researched them.

The fact is, it is the fans that attacked a group of Airdrie Supporters who had alighted their busses and were waiting for Police to let them into the Stadium, presumably mistaking them from the hooligans that had been causing earlier trouble and the Celtic supporters/bloggers who have tried to fob this off or looking at these Airdrie Supporters as collateral damage who in fact blacken Celtic’s name…

  15. Good morning friends and Happy Matchday from a very cold, clear skied East Kilbride where yesterday’s snow remains, now frozen underfoot. very pretty to look at, mind you.

  16. It just seems to be continual and constant attacks on the Celtic support in this place, day after day, after day.

Getting fed up with of it now I am.

  17. Watched Valencia last night.Could not believe how ordinary they looked.None of the Spanish flair.Players hoofing ball anywhere.Getafe could have scored more.I do think they have serious problems.

The Airdrie Supporters Trust.Aye right.Masonic Orange bassas to a man.

Funny how Robinsons crew fell in with this shower, ahead of all the other visiting teams fans.Made more than welcome in the myriad of Orange hovels in the town.Dont be fooled by their pleas of innocence.A bigger collection of Orange scum, you would be hard to find.

  18. Leftbackagain That is scary. Hope your good lady recovers fully and soon. Stay positive.Take care of yerself mate.

  19. 16 ROADS. @ 8:50 AM,

The Celtic support are the world’s best, no doubt, when things go wrong though we should be able to rise up and do the right thing.

Twice now, once in Sunderland and then again on Saturday, the right wing hooligan contingent have targeted and made idiotic PR gains to the detriment of Celtic… we need to get smarter when dealing with them.

They are spending all their time plotting… let’s not become their victims, nor let any other football supporters become their victims.

You reposted in entirety a post mentioning Michael Davitt @ 20.56 hrs last night; and responded with the comment ” excellent post ”

Surely it is a natural assumption that you agreed with the sentiments expressed. Absolutely nothing wrong with that, and as it’s a blog I replied.

The comparison I gave is still valid, in fact very apt in 2019.

Have a look at some stunning goals.2 million.
