Five cautions without a single bad challenge

105

The Curse of Easter Road strikes again.  This time, Celtic played well, made lots of chances and have little reason for regret.  Hibs were poor, seldom threatened but benefited from a ricochet from a cross which was never leading to a genuine chance.

That aside, Hibs players in general and Scott Allan in particular spent a great deal of the game on their bums.  Physical contact became a reason for theatrical innovation.  We succumbed to their limited game plan.  Wiser heads would have left Edinburgh with fewer than five cautions without making a single bad challenge.

Hooking Odsonne Edouard for Bayo was curious but Edouard has a bigger game to prepare for this week and I thought this was the best we have seen of Bayo, despite not scoring.  He linked up well, showed composure under pressure and is beginning to look comfortable in the Celtic shirt.

Credit too to Boli Bolingoli.  He did not have any defending to do but was always available and coped with the best of our intricate passing.

Interesting contributions tonight on the subject of blogs in general, and the dynamics of blogs. Personally I have never understood people who get annoyed/upset/angry, because someone disagrees with them on a blog.

And if anyone wants to disagree with that statement, well I’m flouncing :-)

Haven’t had my say on Saturday’s game. Personally I think Olivier Ntcham doesn’t belong at Celtic. The guy is consistently inconsistent. Seldom manages three good games in a row. His temperament is suspect (see hissy fit in the last game, and similar behaviour against St. Mirren last season. He is a flat track bully, undoubtedly has some skill, but never seems to engage properly with the match. He is as slow as treacle. The team dynamic seems to suffer when he plays.

If we can get our money back, or even make a bob or two, I would thank him and wish him well in his career elsewhere. Just my opinion of course, but some clubs don’t suit some players.

  3. Cluj is a massive game on Thursday.

It won’t be easy but with a mega Support (50000+ would be superb) we can get the result we All want.

I’ll be watching the game again with the Bhoy and hopefully that brings a better result, a week aff is good.

It will be a tactical battle I’m sure but Lenny will want to ATTACK attaCK ATTACK

“What a day that was, never slept a wink the previous night, my ma wis shouting up stairs, get up fur school ya wee so n’ so, but she never knew what that day was to bring, under my pillow was a ticket for Paradise, it was the first time I was allowed to go to a Glasgow derby with my friends, I was 14 at the time, we had moved from Easterhouse to Livingston in 1973 (big mistake)… So I wanders off to school, met the Bhoys, dinner time comes, ticket in the back pocket, dinner bell goes, that’ll do, it’s time to go! We get to the nearest kerry oot shop, two cans each and a half bottle of buckie, the best day of my life was just unfolding… The supporters bus was due to leave at 5:30pm, we walk the 2 miles, whistling the Wolftones songs, half blootered after a can of tennents, we get the meeting point, nobody there, Awe_naw _nae _bus _anaw _noo!,

  10. So here we are 35 miles from Glasgow, the three of us head to the dual carriageway in the hope of thumbing a lift, it’s a million to one shot, so up pulls this big estate car with 3 in it, we manage to squeeze in, with me in the back curled up like a message bag, here we go! Half way there there the driver, (who became a lifelong friend) informed us he was staying in Glasgow for the night, so am thinking, how are we gonnae get hame?

  11. Best of Luck Phibhoy on your sober October, A warm welcome to our new Poster Paul 67. You are very welcome Paul hope you stick around.

Looking forward to Cluj game & getting back to voting in Jobo’s Competition, but unfortunately I am going to miss the Livingston game.

I recent years I have rarely ever missed a Celtic game even if it meant using the dodgiest of streams, however missed the Killie &Thistle games saw snippets of the Hibs game & likely to see none of the Livi game next Sunday. Now that is real hardship . Philbhoy’s sober October pales into insignificance compared to my problems.

The doctor was asking me about my drinking. I told him, I had cut right back from my younger wilder days.

“Have you stopped drinking?” Asks he.

I replied “Jeez naw, I’ve no stopped, but I’m not having tequila in my cornflakes any more” 😃

  13. Celtic set for 600k transfer boost if Hearts wonderkid Aaron Hickey is prised away from Tynecastle

The Hearts youngster has been a revelation since bursting on to the scene in May.

    ………..

The Boy was in Celtic’s youth Squad until last summer and Celtic apparently included a 30% Transfer Clause, should he move to another Club…Apparently £2 Million has been mooted from a couple of English clubs ?

  14. ulysses mcghee - a demographic of one on

Only real niggle I have with our squad in games like Saturday (which will be many) is I’d like more shots from distance – on the surprise, snapshot goes at goal – we often overplay near the box – this is aided by our % possession and skillset but we have the guys to score from distance.

  15. At the risk of sounding like a broken record…

I am worried about the lack of midfield rotation in this Celtic side.

Callum McGregor is a likely starter for Scotland in the international break. Neil Lennon has felt unable to properly rest CalMac despite the excellent form of Olivier Ntcham & Ryan Christie, the return from injury of Tom Rogic and Luca Connell in reserve.

Ideally, we would have rotated between Ntcham, Brown & McGregor for the Hamilton, Partick Thistle & Hibs games.

Instead, McGregor has started every game and we have opted to play with one natural winger at Easter Road. We have so many fine players available on that left-hand side like Elyounoussi, Sinclair, Johnston & Shved. Hayes is a fan favorite for a reason and Morgan is unfairly maligned.

Playing Gordon against Thistle was a great decision and I am happy with the management of our back four.

    More imagination in midfield please.

  16. At a glance, Cluj’s decision to rest players paid off when they played their best football at Celtic park from the 76th minute on.
