Celtic have not beaten either of the Rangerses in a Scottish Cup Final since before the Berlin Wall fell. Joe Miller’s 1989 winner after the most moaned about throw-in in history is the landmark moment. We were poor that season yet managed to hold the line at Hampden in the sun.
In the remaining 23 years of Oldco we met and lost to them twice in the Final (1999 and 2002), both by a single goal. The last seven of these finals, since the epic 4-0 in 1969, were decided by one goal. With so much on the line, underdogs often find strength. We have twice lost to Newco at Hampden in the Scottish Cup, both semis and both defeats, despite Celtic being strong favourites, just as we are tomorrow.
Despite being champions, Celtic have an interesting edge to them going into the game. Their win in the crucial league game between the sides this month was followed by a chorus from the losers that they were heroic in defeat. That is not how I saw the game, but apparently, we got the edge on a better side that day.
Fix this narrative, Celtic.

Chicken George McCluskey (so called from the tv programme Roots) was a home grown oven ready Celtic striker who scored the winner against Rainjurz in the Scottish Cup Final.

That awkward moment when the oldies start cracking the oldies
They come from Crieff and Kilmacolm
They come from Derry adn Tyrone
To see the Celtic win their tie
To see the GREEN FLAG flying high.

I tend to think that the refs are fairer in our games against THEM because more UK-wide attention is paid to this game so the refs feel obliged to be fair ( ish).
Cheerio for now.
BRRB, Big Jimmy et al- you are welcome mañana at our table in Howgate.

*probably needs tae go through his degrees first, my late brother played juvenile with a young lad who was on their books for a while and i have no doubt, knowin his family pedigree, bluenoses no huns, that he was in the craft, anyway he told him the only first team member at that time, this was the mid 60s, who wisnae in it was the wee fife ned who was only 18 and therefore under their age of 21.
BRRB – You make your own luck in this life Johnnie bhoy.

The league was always the priority this season – job done.
If we had lost the cup to anyone but Rangers, I would not have been bothered much. Other teams winning some trophies is good for our national game.
Currently we are on 116 Scottish trophies – 54 League, 41 Scottish Cup and 21 League Cups. They, combined, are on 117 – 55 League, 34 Scottish Cups, and 28 League Cups. Only those still alive since 1938 will have been here when we were last ahead of them by 1 trophy.
As I turn 65 this weekend, I have lived all my live with them in front of us. The significance of tomorrow could not be clearer.
*well I’m a wee bit older than you Jim as I am now in the latter half of my 8th decade and can always remember Jock sayin in response to either davie white or jock Wallace, possibly he former with his wee squeaky voice, however since this is sevco 5088 we are playin and the form book no longer goes out of the windae have been uncharacteristically calm before our games with the country’s newest club no matter what the try and tell us there pedigree is.
In fact, all week I have noticed not too much bluster from either camps and even this morning woke up without any of those pre hun games nerves so as had been already said, we show up we win, and should we NOT prevail then there has to be a stewards enquiry.
Any US Bhoys know a bar to watch the game in the Miami Beach area tomorrow?

Tontine Tim Bud Johnstone? Horrible wee scroat.
*I recall when the huns sold him, which was not just surprisin but sensational, as he was a top player havin scored twice in the riot torn final in Barca, my da sayin they had no option as if the hadn’t he would have gone the same way as wullie woodburn, he was sent off 20+ times in his career.

Wish ye hadn’t posted that link to the Irish Times
One, because it included the face of the New Gers, (same as the Old Gers, only uglier)
And two because it was lifted from the Guardian, and written by Ewan Murray a Celtic hating hack who can only have got the job because that paper needed a Scot on the payroll to show its’ er diversity. Certainly nothing to do with his journalism, there isn’t any, indeed there is less and less of that at all in the paper having sacked the majority of its’ journos and replaced them with the Opinionoraty, the Commentariat, and self serving little scroats, (thanks for that one BRRB) like Murray. To be avoided at all costs.
