We travel to Ibrox the day before the transfer window closes. I’m not entirely happy about this. My expectations are that several of our key players will be subject to offers, some of which will go to the wire, some of which may not be accepted.
Approaching deadlines are unsettling. There can be a tacit acceptance that the player will move after a game, such as Odsonne Edouard moved to Crystal Palace two days after he ‘posted in’ a losing performance at Ibrox. And there can be an outright refusal to contemplate a transfer, such as when Lyon were given a heard ‘No’ when attempting to sign Moussa Dembele, only for the player to throw a hissy fit in front of teammates, coaches and press photographers.
Even getting replacements in early does not fix all problems. Kyogo was on the field when Odsonne performed so poorly at Ibrox, but the our new Japanese forward played on the wing until the last 20 minutes, when he started to terrorise the Newco defence.
Managers are understandably reluctant to bench a tried and tested player for an untested one in important games. Ange Postecoglou should have started Odsonne on the bench and put Kyogo through the middle, but no one seriously considered that before the game.
The most positive reading from the fixtures is that we are away to Aberdeen, Newco, Hearts, and Dundee United in the first round of fixtures. These are difficult games and will mean we have the same sides at home during the winter months, when away pitches are often poor, and for the deciding set of fixtures in April and May.
Plastic pitches are a larger than normal feature for next season. We have Livingston and Falkirk at home, and Kilmarnock away, in the first 11 games. I don’t expect any of these sides to make the top six, which means we will have one less game on plastic than we would if we had two away games at these venues during the opening set. It’s a small (potential) benefit, but still welcome.

You are most definitely not in a minority of one. I also have zero interest in FIFA’s current cash cow.

Sad to hear of the passing of John Reid this week.
John was a big Celtic fan and also the vocalist for a US /UK band ‘The Nightcrawlers’.
Rest in Peace John.

It’s 40 years since the fantastic ‘Prefab Sprout’ released their album ‘Steve McQueen.
If you have never listened to it, it’s well worth doing so, IMHO.
A wee trio of tunes from the afore mentioned album.

Despite its broadcast being banned in Ireland, seven drunken nights got to number one in Ireland.
Got to number 7 in the British charts and it is said to have featured on Top of the Pops.
The Merry Ploughboy reached number 46 in the British charts in 1966. I don’t imagine it featured on Top of the Pops.

I think it was a mistake rather than “fake news” when it appeared here.

Loving the transfer news from across the City. After being told that their second selling price of £3.5 million, reduced from 5,was still way above what they were willing to pay,Hun manager has decided,Dessers is a star striker, and now wants to keep him.Coincidentally, clashing with the news,,spouted by our media,
that Maccabi are not selling their striker to the Huns,BECAUSE OF THE WAR !!.
Now a clinic might think that the reason the Israeli transfer is off, maybe had something to do with no sale of Dessers = no money to pay for said Israeli.Or am I bad?Anyway, some Huns already burning their Israeli flags in impotent rage.
49ers my Arse.
Maeda going nowhere.Calm down.Unless someone fronts up £ 30 million.Or thereabouts.

Is that why the Majority of Celtic fans voted for cloven hoofed horrible sleekit krankie, instead of voting the man directly behind Tony Benn in your in that video, Jeremy Corbyn?
Why don’t Celtic fans get over themselves, grow up a little, or a lot, stop being childish, stop being so weak that you can’t operate outwith whatever clique you are in permits you to speak.
AND THEN, you can all redeem your stupidity, and 17 STUPID ASSED WASTED YEARS, with ZERO Scottish Indy, After 17 years of bitching about, and even lying for the kult, clique, midden, Snp ugly Huns who tried to jail you all fo being Tims!
Thanks to that evil horrible Unionist, James Kelly, from the misnamed Labour party.
Tony Benn (RIP), and Jeremy Corbyn, George Galloway, and a good few others, would all be banned from the today’s captured Labour party.
Celtic fans left the Blairite/Warmonger LP and went to the Snp which has “acted” as a Tory proxy deceit, giving you all Tory austerity, and telling you all it was the Tories that did it to you.
And you all fell for it. For 17 years.
Ask Kevin McKenna, pro Scottish Indy journalist, he said, “We’ve been lied to for 17 years, and it was all done by a party of skilled liars.”
Tonny Benn educated George Galloway when GG as a young boy joined the LP.
GG was sacked from LP by Blair, because GG told Blair he was “GOING TO Fk UP THE WHOLE WORLD” by going ahead with the Iraq invasion in 2003.
I’d say that George Galloway has been proven correct Millions of times over.
If Tims are into Tony Benn Politics, Working Class Politics, James Connolly Politics, then try the Workers Party of Britain, if you are big enough, or genuine enough.
Greens, Snp, Lab, Lib, Con, Ref, SF, FF, FF, are all Woke wasters of everybody’s time, and rely on unthinking sheep to keep voting for them.
They are all taking the piss, to make themselves rich, whilst you all get shafted, over and over, fakeful through and through.
WPB, led by Tony Benn’s finest pupil, George Galloway, will kick ass if enough people vote for it.

Thanks so much for sharing that speech by a truly great man. Probably alongside John Smith he was the best prime minister we never had.
So appropriate today as it was then.
Without doubt, Tony Benn was a wonderful orator.
Winston Churchill was a wonderful orator.
Should you lead a country because you are a wonderful orator?
I attended the John Smith Memorial Debate at the GUU where Alex Salmond, Menzies Campbell and Charles Kennedy went up against the GUU debating team who were then world champions.
I was blown away by how good the professional politicians were on their feet . Literally men against boys.
We can all talk a good game, but until your heads on the block neither you nor anybody else knows if you’re any good.

I might be in a minority, but would be happy to see Dessers go
Bada – why?
The poor bhoys at the Huddle Breakdown are busy benchmarking Celtic players, but it would be interesting to know if Dressers is dross, or if he’s dross because those who are feeding him are dross.
If it’s the former then I hope they keep him😀

Wee Barry Ferguson in his first few games in charge got a few tunes out of Dessers by chipping the ball over the top for CD to run onto rather than look like Idah’s face when he has to stand waiting waiting for the perfect pass to come through the eye of a needle.
That type of unlearning naivety is what cost Liverpool the title as opposed to it being about Stevie G slipping. In the Epl run-in Liverpool went to Crystal Palace and were 0-3 ahead at halftime and ended up 3-3 because of Brendan’s tippy-tappy pish.
