Football comes at you quick when losing money

Five years ago, Jack Ross took his Championship St Mirren team to Celtic Park for a Scottish Cup tie and impressed everyone.  Brendan Rodgers thought they were the best domestic team to play there all season.  I thought he was a manager for the future.

Within weeks of leading St Mirren to promotion, he moved to the disaster zone that was Stadium of Light, Sunderland.  Sunderland had just experienced the CEO magic of former Rangers chief, Martin Bain, and had been relegated for the second successive season.  He took them to the League One play-off final but having sold their star striker and with Aiden McGeady carrying an injury, they lost.  He was sacked a few months into the new season, again in a play-off spot.

Of all the bizarre sackings in football, Ross’ losing his job at Hibs, shortly before they were due to play Celtic in last season’s League Cup Final is up there.  Hibs then became the disaster zone club.  He should have been a good fit at Dundee United, but after losing 7 to AZ Alkmaar, 9 to Celtic, and worse, 3 to St Mirren, he was sacked this morning.

It took less than 4 weeks to go from the height of taking a first leg lead against AZ, to the loss of the next five games, scoring once and conceding 24.  Earlier this month, we discussed, “[United’s] smallest loss in the last three years was £2.52m, their highest turnover in that time was £3.9m.  Football comes at you quick with losses like that.  This will not end well.”

BOURNESOUPRECIPE, haven’t been in that pub for years. Was never a favourite, prefer Neesons or Victoria Bar. Probably in there tonight and Saturday.

Agreed. There is no use having a squad and not using them

Although I would play Starfelt and keep Jenz for Sunday.

As my old man used to say .

The cups are only relevant, if they’re sitting alongside the league trophy

That fixture ‘computer’ eh? Huns get softball draw against tier 3 QoS at Ibrox, Tuesday night, play the kids.

Celtic? Wednesday night at Dingwall. Mmmm… All before the first derby.

As for the league, a remarkable coincidence in the first round of fixtures. Huns playing first at rounds 1, 3, 4, 5, 7 & 8.

Only times they won’t get that advantage is Saturday, when we play each other and round 2 (when we played at the same time). TV schedules not announced for round 9 onwards, but expect the pattern to continue.

Remarkable that in the first round of 8 league fixtures they are given the advantage of playing first 6 times whilst we don’t get it at all. You’d be tempted to conclude that Scottish football is run by huns for the benefit of huns!

Wow! I had no idea how much it was skewed in their favour . What are the odds on a computer

    ‘randomly’ generating that?

  8. If anyone still thinks these things are random, I have a bridge to see ye.

Always been the same, we just need to be better than them and take the 12th man out of play.

the 2 quick goals at the 3-0 game took the ref right out of play. same again please.

Thanks for the info…. Playing a lower devision team helps with playing reserve/2nd team players.

Unlike us tonight, I hope we don’t make to many changes as it’s normally a close run thing up there.

As always a win with no injuries will do nicely thank you very much.💚🤍💛😄

    Once again thanks 👍

  11. It might be heresy to say so, but with a very busy few months coming up and an unusual World Cup break, I really would prefer playing a mostly second-string team tonight and if we lose so be it. Better to let the players that need game time get it, and the players that are essential rested.

I’d much prefer to see us getting into the Last 16 in the CL and winning the league and not being too concerned about domestic treble. Lose tonight and the upside is it frees up some midweeks in the winter. Win with the second string, let them be the ones to play again in the next round.

  13. Please read the link below.

This is account takeover, the worst kind of fraud.

Please follow the thread, it may save you a lot of money and hassle.

The link is to an Irishman in Dublin.

About the third thing on the thread advises he had a call from a local Dublin number.

This is very sophisticated “Spear Phising”

Getting a call from what appears to be a local number is a VERY RECENT AND CURRENT DEVELOPMENT IN SPEAR PHISING.

This guy very accurately lays out how all his accounts were taken over including his savings.

He would have had fraud they had hacked his bank account earlier, hence the Spear Phising”.

I was advised recently at work about getting what appeared to be a call from a telephone number local to you area.

Any of us can be conned.

Vulnerable people are more susceptible to fraud

  15. Another current fraud being carried out at the moment and one to be aware of.

You get contacted on Whatsap by someone you know family member, friend etc asking you for some cash.

If some one You know contacts you in this manner contact them BEFORE REPLYING TO THE MESSAGE to check that it is from them.

  18. Spear Phising latest tactic of including in this sophisticated fraud is being carried out here as well as in Ireland.

I can’t imagine that A.I.B won’t advise the guy in the link to sign up somewhere to do a credit check on himself monthly.

The banks over here definitely would or should.

The fraudsters now have enough information on this guy, that he needs to be concerned about his identity being cloned and then discovering sometimes a few years down the line that he has taken out loans, car finance etc. Please read the link posted earlier.
