The Toronto Celtic club are having a wee do today to raise funds for the wee man.
It all kicks off at 2pm and will include local singers and musicians as well as raffles etc.
Not sure if Torontony mentioned it but we had a wee setback after the Barca game(aye, a busy day) – when the club was broken into and we were relieved of various items which sadly included Oscars Loonie jar and a cash box containing the wee man’s ticket monies. Sad?..yes, disheartened..no way. Today we will crack on and refill that jar and cash box. We use wee Oscars fight and determination as an inspiration, and we will get it done.
I’m sure there is a place reserved downstairs for the person responsible for this low act – and I’m sure the man upstairs will be responsible for your luck until you get there.

Again, that’s not what I said.
I said the girls involved thought they did. But the law says they were too young to consent.
But the girls would of course have been entitled to receive contraception and abortions and treatment for STIs and to insist that their parent or guardian was not informed. Presumably because the law considers that there are mature enough to make these decisions for themselves.
Society gives these kids confusing signals, that’s a big part of the problem.

Let me try and make it clear.
The problem for the police and social services is that, at least initially, the girls in many of these cases don’t regard themselves as victims or as having been abused or exploited.
They think they are in a consensual relationship. They think they are mature enough to make such decisions.
When police or social services try to intervene the girls are uncooperative or even hostile.
The abusers know this and use it to their advantage.
And society doesn’t help by the mixed messages it gives out.
