Foregone conclusion territory

1955

I don’t know about you but practically every football thought I have at the moment is connected to where we go next. The small matter of winning the league title has slipped into ‘foregone conclusion’ territory, which is always dangerous.

The players will be no different from the rest of us, but they will have more on their minds. A change of manager is likely to mean a new system, and new squad requirements. They need to focus on making the best of the next five games. One thing that has been reassuring this week is Ronny Deila’s comments. His professional pride is clear; he’ll apply himself fully to the task in hand until the end of the season.

Eyes on the task of winning the league, as soon as possible.

The signing of Stefano Scepovic sums up the ambitions of Peter Bremner & the Celtic Board. He is a player that refused to sign for us until he realized that no other club wanted him.

    Very ambitious indeed!

  2. Mibbe Ronny will take Johanson, Cifti, CKR, GMS, Nat King, Armstrong, Boyata, Jiumunovic(sp), with him when he goes.

Apologies if I’ve accidentally left out your favourite.

SSuggestion of too cosy a relationship with one particular agent. For me,that’s not too much of a problem,we should always be aware of people who can offer us something.

Might be interesting to see how his other clients have done. Maybe we missed out on a new Messi.

Maybe we created a Messi of our own via a very close relationship.

Are you suggesting that we are to be feeling sorry for the poor lambs cos they’re getting a new boss who might be a bit scary and realise what a bunch of useless chancers they are??

  12. I wonder if the ‘ special one’ would be interested?

Good CV. Would sort the press out. Just a case of persuading him to manage us on a lower budget. Quick research shows he’s only spent £600 million in his career to date.

    Seriously. £600 million!!

    Crazy.

I noted your cocmments earlier and I am pretty sure I have your e-mail address as I wanted to talk to you earlier in the year about something — however it did n’t come to pass at the time though there is time yet.

    Be in touch.

  16. We hear a lot of people talking up “right good Celtic men” taking the job.

I would rather have a right good manager that knows football.

A veteran type who has been there done that will do.

Knowing the gold fish bowl that is manager of Celtic would help but respect from the players is a must.

    No more cheap experiments please.

Scott Brown to work as an assistant but only on the training ground.

Really did feel bad for Ronny at the press conference.

Maybe another day for him elsewhere and he will succeed.

From the stands it certainly seemed that any time Commons played after the disgraceful outburst – perhaps RD was too decent to give him other chances, doubt if the Blessed Martin would have been so forgiving- he did not give 100% and, that, for me, is unforgivable.

IMHO he can go now. HH

  19. macjay1 for Neil Lennon,

His irritation may have been justified.

His complete lack of fitness and professionalism was not.

I implore anyone to watch the ‘Rogic’ game against Kilmarnock. It will leave you astounded at Commons’ application or rather his lack of it.

He effectively downed tools in that game.

    Unforgiveable.

Will a “top manager” come to Scotland?

Would he get the funds a top manager would want?

Would the quality of player he would want come to Scotland?

  21. Twists N Turns –

Must be at cross purposes here. David Brent (as opposed to Ricky Gervais) was actually lead singer in Four-gone Conclusion… ;-)

    Back to work…

  22. I don’t believe Celtic would pay compensation to another club or national team for taking their manager.

Our new Bhoy is likely to come from the ranks of the unemployed.

    Lennon, Rodgers, Moyes.

Moyes apparently not that interested, Rodgers probably too expensive.

    WELCOME HOME LENNY!

    You’ve been warned.

  23. Chairbhoy

I agree we should get the best we can afford as our coach, have said that for years, the coach~manager should be the highest paid at the club imo, players that are paid more than there coach will have less chance of respecting him, at the level we are at anyways.

But I can’t see our board sanctioning that, it will be the cheap option again with the spin about it’s where we play etc.

If that’s the case my choice would be Mick McArthy.

We’re about to have our sixth manager in just over a decade. Why such a high turnover? How long will the new guy last?

    _________

That’s because, since MO’N all the managers have been PL-puppets….imho.

    Puppets don’t work….they empty stadiums.

That’s why, the recruiters of the ‘puppets’ have to be gotten rid of or else, it’ll be more of the same.

There are plenty of guid players at Celtic just now who could be, worked on by a new manager and, fashioned into a guid Celtic team

1st things, 1st…get rid of the rudderless structures of the club that was designed by Fergus to – keep the fans out!

This season book renewal period is probably the ‘last’ time in our history were the fans will have the opportunity to effect the change to the structure’s of the club to prevent us being put tot he back of the bus by the ##d ###m hierarchy.

    Desmond, Lawwell etc…oot!

Now is yer last chance, after that….God only know’s.

Maybe God sent Warburton on Sunday to wake all the jelly & ice cream gluttons up ?

He works in mysterious ways ye know.

Oh and, a big no to Brendan Rodgers.

BR tries to play football the Tommy Burns(RIP) way and, he wasn’t exactly a winner as a manger.

The Celtic supporters have to wisen-up.

Keep yer money in yer pockets and, get rid of those fholk without shadows who run the club.

That…..has to be the 1st port of call.

Chains of command can come next.

You’ll Never Walk Alone….in the Jungle.

Excellent points well made. Hopefully the team can drag itself over the remaining league matches and be Champions once again

But may not any “top manager” contemplating applying for the post be considering that winning consecutive championships and rebuilding the youth development programme not be sufficient to retain his job. All this would be in a background of media and establishment hatred, limited transfer budget, the necessity to clear out dead wood, not only winning but playing the Glasgow Celtic way.

It did not work out for RD and lessons, not just a change of coach, have to be learned. Oh and, by the way, new fellow, in your first year you have to win the treble, reach the QF of the Champions League, otherwise you will get dog’s abuse on CQN. HH
