‘FORGET ZENIT – OUR FOCUS IS SAINTS,’ KT

KIERAN TIERNEY insists Celtic will forget about Thursday’s return Europa League tie with Zenit St Petersburg in Russia to focus totally on St Johnstone at Parkhead tomorrow.

The Scotland international  played his part in the excellent 1-0 first leg triumph over Roberto Mancini’s side on Thursday night, but it is all about Premiership points this weekend.

Tierney said: “It was a great result, but the minute the game has ended that is it.

“We are up against St Johnstone and we want to make sure we get all three points and keep our momentum going.

“We have to give that our full attention before thinking about Zenit.

“It’s half time in that tie, but we did well. We stuck to our game plan and it worked.

“Were they rusty? You could maybe say that. We were straight into the Champions League qualifiers and it’s tough.

“But they will have another 90 minutes under their belt and they will be sharper.

“I thought we played really well. We defended well and limited Zenit as much as we could. And we were dangerous up front and finally got the goal.

“It’s great for the club.”
