FORGOTTEN CELT PRAISED BY BOSS

ON-LOAN Celt Saidy Janko has been described as “an absolute tank” by Barnsley boss Paul Heckingbottom.

The Swiss Under-21 right-back was moved onto the Championship outfit by Brendan Rodgers on August transfer deadline day.

Janko made six appearances for the champions before agreeing his temporary switch, but his season has been wrecked by injury.

However, with weeks to go, he has started the last two games and won the Man of the Match award after the club’s midweek draw with Cardiff City.

Gaffer Heckingbottom praised the powerhouse defender and said: “It’s just a case of pushing him and getting it in his head because a lot of his game is physical.

“You have to have a real determination to go out there and impose yourself and he’s done that – and done well in the last two games.

“He’s an absolute tank, but he’s got to have the mental mindset to go with that.”

Ronny Deila signed Janko from Manchester United in July 2015 on a four-year contract.

Rodgers immediately replaced the full-back with a £1million swoop for West Brom’s Cristian Gamboa who has made 18 appearances for the first team.

Janko will return to Parkhead in the summer, but his future at the Hoops is unclear.
