Celtic will play Malmo in the Champions League play-off round, the third time since 2012 they will face champions from Sweden. The main concern for Ronny Deila is the manner in which Malmo disposed of Salzburg 3-0 on Wednesday night, but there is context to put that into. In the previous round the Swedes only managed a 0-0 at home to Lithuanians Zalgiris Vilnius, before winning 0-1 away.
Those three goals against Salzburg, which arrived inside 45 minutes, will be the subject of a lot of research over the next few days.
In 2013 Celtic struggled to blow away the cobwebs against Elfsborg, recording a 1-0 home win and a 0-0 draw away. A year earlier they beat Helsingborgs 2-0 home and away.
The most encouraging aspect for Ronny will be Malmo’s domestic form. They are current 6th in the Allsvenskan after 18 games and will struggle to qualify for Europe next season. A home game against league leaders Gothenburg on Sunday will be Celtic’s most important reconnaissance exercise.
Oh, and put out the flags, Malmo play on grass!!

There is no way on earth Celtic would be allowed to display the gold star on our Jersey if we’d died and reformed.
And yet the ultra arrogant huns get away with flaunting the five fag burns In the faces of 250 cheated, swindled and stiffed creditors.
You misinterpret.
The OLD 5 fag burns represented one for each 10 Scottish titles they cheated their way to.
The NEW 5 fag burns – each commemorates 50 stiffed creditors.
Dignity ‘n ‘at, man.

I woke up this morning to a report on Radio Five Live about Hereford FC’s first ever competitive match in the Midlands Combination League. They are a phoenix club born out of the ashes of Hereford Utd. They will play at the same ground as the old club, wear the same colours as the old club and be supported by the same fans as the old club. However, they are clearly a new club and this fact is accepted the new club’s supporters’ trust, the town council who own the ground, the English FA and even the BBC.
Quite a bit different from the SFA and BBC Scotland in respect of the new Rangers who were formed in exactly the same circumstances as Hereford FC. When the new Rangers do eventually scramble their way to the Scottish Premiership, my life-long interest in the professional game in the country of my birth will end. I will not spend anymore time or money watching a game that is bent and corrupt as it is in Scotland and has as much credibility as World Wide Entertainment (WWE) wrestling. I fear I will be cheering on the bhoys for the last time this season.
Fleagle
Not seen anything
Fleagle – telegraph does a good one that is free, and then it would just be setting up a CQN league (also free) if you think there would be interest?
M6Bhoy
Unfortunately, I feel roughly the same. Not a flounce or anything. Just an anticipated feeling that I will think the whole set-up is such a pretence that the pleasure I currently experience watching Celtic will disappear.
Cheerio for now. Lovely morning for a bike ride.
JJ
M6Bhoy,
I know what you mean. But, believe me, the Huns really do know they are a new club. Deep down they all know it and it is a pain and scar each of them will take to their graves.
There was nothing inevitable about the death of RFC – it could have been halted by a combination of fans and RRM at any time from the fag end of Moonbeams’ reign. But in their overwhelming arrogance, they didn’t act, and and as a support, they take a large degree of the blame for letting their club die.
Their buddies in the Media can write whatever they like (contradicting all their headlines from 2012). But you know, I know, they know, that RFC died.
That’a a terrible psychological scar to bear for the rest of your life. It’s almost Biblical.
BT, cheers for the words of encouragement.
Still no sleep but no pain either. Part of the problem is I’m a side sleeper, doesn’t work with knee surgery.
Tried counting sheep, drifted off, woke up in a panic, dreamt I was supporting Aberdeen

It would be far too perverse if the emergence of the latest “wainjurs fwanchise” in the top league was to mean
good Tims stop supporting the Celtic.
In my opinion that does not make any sense in any known universe.
Bonkers.
The Hun Klub did thumsels in.
Their supporters – Huns – in the stands and in the media however are still very much extant.
They want us to go away, to disband – why would Celtic man give thum what they want!?
HH
Celtic are taking a massive gamble with the lack of quality signings.
GREENSIDEUP
Glad you enjoyed the wee clip.
Hope yer knees are back in full working order pronto. I’d say a wee prayer for your health, but that’s how the oul’ winklepickers got curled up in the first place!
Cyber bunchagrapes instead,bud.
There seems to be a rumour gathering pace online about us having a decent striker lined up should we make the CL group stages. Anyone heard owt?
So Malmo is going to be tough? Well, maybe. But I don’t think they will fancy playing us.
So they beat Salzburg? Well I reckon we’d beat them too now. We were at our worst when we played them last year. They have also lost Kampl since then.
Bring em on!
BMCUWP,
Ta for the thoughts and for the grapes.
I watched a program with Mumford and his sons from the same venue as Chicagp, I believe it is in Colorado

And yet BBC Scotland could not have put the reality of the death of Rangers(1872-2012) more plainly back in 2013.

Thanks to Motherwell, we get another season’s grace.
But you’re certainly not alone in thinking you’ll be unable to go along with the farce any longer once Sevco are in the same division as ourselves, parading as the deid club with the full support of those who ‘govern’ the game in Scotland.
TomtheLeedsTim.
I heard Hernandez for ManU on loan. But no idea if this is true.
In case anyone is interested, the Bluejays beat the Yankees last night in New York

Will do,mate. I’ll c&p,mail it to myself,post it for a few days.
Italiabhoy – yeah he’s one of several names which are flying about.
I guess we’ll have to wait and see. I’m pretty confident that we will get past Malmo so time will tell.
We definitely need one.
tomtheleedstim
Steven Fletcher (loan), Tom De Sutter, Michu. No doubt they’ll be another half dozen rumours over next 3 weeks
Good morning friends from a half clear skied but still bright, warm and rather beautiful looking East Kilbride.
Tomtheleedstim my nephew asked me the same thing about striker the other day. He said he was listening to the Clyde phone in and the orc Alex Rae said that he knew that Celtic were at advanced stage with a striker from foreign club. He wouldn’t tell the other pundits the name on air but did say he was impressed with big name player.

I didn’t know till recently that Bono has an eye condition, not sure of the name, but that is why he’s always got the shades on

Gary67 – yeas, heard all those mentioned as well.
I think what Might Tim referred to (Rae) might be the origin of this and the web has been full of people guessing (making things up) since. I read that Rae also said we had played against this guy recently and eyebrows would be raised if we can pull it off.
Here’s hoping.
Morning all.
Lovely start to the day (well at least the sun is shining for the moment) down here.
I hope the likes of Tierney and Henderson get a game tomorrow, along with Commons, who I think needs to start. He needs game-time. I would rest Bitton and give Rogic a start too, as he is the only player we have who can play Bitton’s role. These lhads should be getting experience and the others should have the confidence to support them.
Can I suggest too that, if James Forrest is picked, that we all get behind him, as I feel his confidence is shot to pieces? That burst he made through their defence near the end is something only he can do, imo, of the players we have. If he had shot and scored, we would have been raving about it. Rightly so, too.
Malmo not the team I would have picked to play its going to be two very hard games but we have to expect a decent team at this stage of Qualifying. The home game is going to be very very important we must build a half decent lead to take to Sweden if we are to go through any talk of new signings is wishful thinking if we qualify it will still be doubtful if we will sign anyone. H.H.
Do we have a CQN fantasy football league this year? If so could someone post the details please.
