FORMER Celtic midfielder Colin Healy has announced his retirement from football.

The 37-year-old Republic of Ireland international made 30 appearances in five years with the Hoops before moving to Sunderland in 2003.

Healy, who also had spells at Falkirk and Livingston, featured in Martin O’Neill’s trophy-laden era at Parkhead.

After deciding it was time to hang up his boots, Healy, who had been playing for Cork City, said: “For over the past 20 years, I’ve felt extremely lucky to call a sport I love my job.

“Representing Ireland at senior international level and making my debut for Glasgow Celtic are honours that I will cherish for ever.

“Throughout my career I’ve worked with some of the best managers and coaches,

“I would like to thank them for the opportunities they have given me.”
