FORMER CELTIC STRIKERS AT WAR

JOHN HARTSON has hit back at Charlie Nicholas in a war of words between the former Celtic strikers.

The one-time favourites locked horns over comments made about Scott Brown who will leave the club in the summer for Aberdeen after 14 years at Parkhead.

Nicholas insisted the 35-year-old skipper should NOT be acclaimed as a legend, as CQN reported yesterday.

But Hartson fired back in defence of the Scotland international who has won 22 honours since his £4.4million arrival from Hibs in 2007.

The former Wales international legend, speaking to Go Radio, said: “I think Charlie’s at it. What have you got to do to become a legend?

“He’s made over 600 appearances for Celtic. He’s won 10 league titles, 22 trophies in all and he captained the side to the quadruple treble in the last four years.

“I just don’t know where Charlie is coming from, I really don’t. I think he’s just trying to noise people up.”

Celtic fans will be given the opportunity to pay their own tributes to Brown before the final Parkhead game of the season against St Johnstone a week tonight which has been switched to a 6.30pm kick-off. You can find the details here.
