Formidable CCV

176

With the season’s finish line just a few weeks away, thoughts inevitably turn to squad changes in the months ahead, in particular, who will be subject to a disruptive bid.  No matter how long he stays at Celtic, you and I will always worry about keeping hold of Cameron Carter-Vickers.  This century, only Virgil van Dijk is comparable in central defensive ability.

Cameron (27) will pick  up his fourth league winners medal and hopes to add a third Scottish Cup winners medal to add to the same tally of League Cup golds.  He is lightning quick and formidable in the challenge.  For the second time in three years, he got a big game out of the way near the end of the season, before dropping out of the squad for treatment.  His availability has to be managed.

That’s not to say he would not find a place in an ELP squad, I am sure he would, but if, as I expect, we manage to hold onto the player for another few seasons, it will be because of this fitness overhead.  Otherwise, he would be one of three top players I would be worried about this summer.

  1. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    IMHO, CCV is our MVP.

Good shout on his fitness overhead Paul.

It MIGHT just be the thing that makes him less attractive to suitors darn sarf.

I expected Spurs to move for him within a year of Ange’s departure.

Ange spoke unequivocally about CCV being the best defender it Scotland by a distance.

The sell on clause Spurs inserted when we bought him would have made him much cheaper for Spurs to buy than any other club.

Spurs have since spent large sums on Dragusin and Danso, neither of whom I’d prefer over CCV.

  2. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Another factor (which i accept can be overplayed) may be CCV’s contentment at Celtic.

He’s a smart guy whom – I suspect – knows he is on to a decent thing at Celtic …

… having been bounced all over the place on loan while at Spurs.

That’s not to say he would not find a place in an ELP squad,

Emerson , Lake and Palmer wouldn’t be interested . The big man can’t sing or play a note >)))

  4. CCV will stay. Not rated in US or EPL.

I would like to see our new recruitment doctor do some business. There are internationals in June and I reckon our preseason will start around 30th June. It is preferable to get players in before preseason in order they can get both fit and up to speed with our set up. I hope Kennedy and Strachan can get some time to work at set pieces.

Hopefully we can hang on to our stars but I can see at least one leaving. Kuhn or Hatate.

Good afternoon all from the Shipbank. A glorious day in the old Saltmarket.

When CCV joined us from Spurs , almost all the comments from Spurs fans were of the ‘glad to see the back of him’ variety . Can’t see him going back there, he strikes me as the type to want to be where he’s appreciated .

£25 for a bounce game v Newcastle,10 subs a team probably, we used to get these games as part of your ST

  8. CCV probably the one we need to keep the most. None of the other centre halves have been at his level.

Hoping that Trusty, who I have stood up for on here, can add that robustness needed for our league games. Otherwise we will need an addition there, might need one anyway

MAZZY…..I hope the 1000’s belting out the BB & NPOR ( ‘a minority’ suggests big Swinzo) are not in line for the Roberta Flack. Otherwise we could – in an instant – clean out about 50% of the adult workforce in bonnie Scozia !

You know and I know the punishishments if any won’t be comparable when it comes Huns being punished .

They should be closing one stand at least and the continuous missile throwing should be a ban of home fans for the ibrox / home games against us too………

    🤔 let’s see what happens.

digital tickets ……………. £1.50 booking fee, greedy greedy plc.

not even the costy of a piece of paper, or a stamp and envelope,

and £25 for newcastle friendly, these guys are incredible,

richer than ever before and they squeeze and squeeze,

  12. You could start a go fund my lunch page …

  15. If any club comes sniffing just show them a few of his passbacks to the keeper. His latest one at Ibrox on Sunday nearly cost us a goal though I doubt he’ll ever surpass the one against Club Brugge.

The Huns and their wee cousins getting investment from others will only push our greedy board even further imo.

    ————————————-

If I look just to the markets we are operating in, and look only at the business results, I could argue that Celtic plc are entering a period of Hyper Growth. The fiscal year of 2024/25 will be bolstered by

    * Increases to Commercial contracts, notably the extension with Adidas, rumoured to bring in now £6m per season.

    * Total aggregate total attendances of 1.6m spectators at 29 matches. Over 1 million in the league record breaking in all aspects including individual match day revenues per person.

    * 2 additional CL games,

    * CL Participation and Prize monies with huge jump in multi media for us.

    * 5% Increase for sold out again season books and monies in by June 30th.

    * Potential to sell another player in the £20m bracket

    * Potential to collect £7m in sell on of former players

    * Potential of our fringe loanees out bringing in another £6m.

so every aspect of the revenue generators goes up and up and up.

Easy to forecast revenues of £130m to £150m.

Those record breaking attendances are phenomenal. The Hins cup game 59000 alone.

We are selling out no matter the pricing, people want to see Celtic.

This is why the qualifier is our richest game ever.

Still convinced, they will announce some expansion project to provide dearer more prifitable options and say that is what the survey said.
