Formidable task for final preseason test

845

I am sure we will see a full strength Celtic team against Inter Milan tomorrow but that doesn’t mean Celtic will be able to overturn their summer form against what will be the best squad of players they have met since facing the same team in the Dublin Cup almost exactly a year ago.  Inter will be formidable opponents.

The experimentation of recent weeks will be set aside as Neil Lennon prepares for next week’s enormously important Champions League qualifying game against HJK Helsinki.  In particular, we are likely to see a more familiar looking back four and midfield.  What happens up front remains to be seen.  Celtic have struggled to get into scoring form preseason; the manager will be keen to resolve this, if possible.

Most of all we need a 90 minutes free of elbows in the face and other injuries as the real stuff is only five days away.

I was attempting to explain the diffrence between consequences and punishment today to a rangers supporting friend,( i wont call him a hun as he is a very decent human being), anyway iwas using Ben Johnston as an example, gold medal removed as a consequence of cheating banned from competing as a punishment. His respone was the Ben Hohnston knew what he was doing was wrong whereas the rangers players didn’t!

Not the brightest star in the heavens, my friend.

  2. re the limpics, as a country walks in the tv camera pans to the senior members of the country…… when the Germans came in, the tv cameras panned to some guy who lookedlike the senior member but …….. he was doing the nazi salute…….what was that about?

Paul, am a huge admirer of your blogs and usually agree with your take on things and indeed have often been enlightened by your take on things or excited by your revelations.

HOWEVER, I have been taken aback by your post overnight. I just don’t see how you can possibly hail the carve up last night as some kind of victory for “the good guys”. First, why was Hughie Green allowed to negotiate at all FFS! Secondly, why was there a joint communique. Thirdly, Sevco has NOT accepted that they will accept the sovereignty of the SPL EBT inquiry at all – indeed, they have said the very opposite of that – and yes, I do appreciate that many of the rants and snarling are for the benefit of the Orc hoards, BUT how can we claim it a victory that SPL has “reserved its position” regarding the EBTs – I mean WTF! Even the cynical timing of the Press Release stinks – I mean 9pm ….just as the Opening Ceremony started is just crass – again showing the utter contempt which the SFA and SPL have for us, the fans (the lifeblood of the game, apparently).

I have a heavy heart this morning as I feel that our game died just a little more last night – the cheats have won, and the corruption at the SFA as demonstrated by its naked determination to break as many if its own rules as it takes to help Sevco – whatever it takes. I long ago gave up on pointing out the Rules, as the rules dont matter – the Rule Book has been thrown out the window.

As for Celtic, I am actually a long-time supporter of our Board and PL and have long supported their strategy of maintaining a dignified silence while Rangers (IA) imploded. However, I truly hope the Board have a Plan B, because the SFA and Scottish Football (with some notable honourable exceptions) has shown itself to be at best wholly unfit for purpose and at worst more machiavellian than the Borgeas and as rotten to its core and we MUST get out of this cesspit – created by the Peepil for the Peepil and always will be thus! They said we were paranoid, but we have been shown to be right after all and have been cheated over many, many years.

Can’t bring myself to walk away as I love Celtic and have had so many great and special memories with my son at many marvellous games which has enriched our lives, but as I say, I have a heavy heart as the game I love has been high jacked and stolen from us.
