Forrest, Christie and Turnbull

962

James Forrest’s injury in September happened three days before Jeremie Frimpong’s best performance of the season, in the home win against Hibs.  I remember using the MVP acronym for Jeremie at the time.  Team form until that point was patchy: wins with alarming defensive performances and an unmitigated disaster against Ferencvaros.  The team shape was clearly wrong and pushing Jeremie forward in James absence seemed logical.

It was the first of many changes I wanted to see, each followed by a realisation that we were groping around in the darkness, until Ismaila Soro and David Turnbull became the central points of a midfield diamond.  Having (hopefully) fixed the fundamental tactical problem, James return to full training offers Neil Lennon the flexibility he is denied on the right and enhances his option in the middle.

Ryan Christie is well short of his best form in a Celtic shirt but all of those best performances came when he played through the middle.  He can cover for James and offer options on the right while giving the manager a different option when he wants to swap out David Turnbull in the 10 position.

Presumably will help encourage some of the doubters among the vulnerable to get a jab when offered, so can’t see the problem.

  6. Breithlá sona to CorkCelt & ACGR.

While Corky’s liking for whiskey and ACGR’s liking for whisky are well known I can exclusively reveal that Corky has a love of socks- he has a different pair for every day of the year.

never really understood why folk get so upset about sweary words

they are all just words using letters from the same set of letters as your non-sweary words

how offensive something is depends on what your intention is and not whether it contains a sweary word or not

Couldn’t agree more, everybody and their Uncle new Neil was expecting him back, and if, as he says now, his intention was always to go back to Southhampton then why on earth did he not tell Neil. The start we made to this season – fumbling about trying to figure out our best defence – has cost us the 10

Clearly we have must been negligent as well, I mean how hard is it to keep tabs on your number one signing target, and then we let Craig Gordon go when we had no guarantee that FF was coming back, criminal.

all water under the bridge now of course

The swearing thing – no I’m not a fan – if tolerated within days we’d all be elfin and blinding at each other,

and that would just be the start, eventually, imo, most of the folks who post now would be offski,

besides, its a simple enough house rule to follow surely, in fact I think its the only house rule

However Filip Benković is almost certainly on his way as I said earlier in week it’s being dripped into our sub conscious. Started by Paul This week .

All but confirmed by Roger Hannah today on Clyde

Who also stated quite firmly I para phrase ” yeah I think Celtic will bring in a centre half ( no shit Sherlock) I think they will get FB in from the EPL.”

Also HATEM ELHAMED is looking to leave this window

Hannah is one of the CEOs. Press drops. So that’s that .

I am so depressed by the board I don’t think I am even bothered or surprised by this I have lost a bit more hope today … I don’t think I have much left !

One for Tontine Floodlights at Boghead

*I was at that game; I knew the Dumbarton side as much as I did the Celtic one. This was due tae only getting tae Parkheid if my da or elder elative took me.

For my fitba viewing then it was, on alternating Saturdays, the Milburn Park tae see the Vale of Leven where I incidentally listened tae the 7-1 game on a bluenose’s radio on a sunny day, or Boagheid tae see the super sons.

We were seated in the stand opposite the main one, no idea how we got tickets although at the time I had family, including my mother, working in Burroughs at Strathleven Estate, the Sons Chairman at the time American James T Fitzgerald was also an executive at this plant.

He had a son who appeared in my class for a short while and then disappeared, it is surmised he went tae St Als. Anyway, Dumbarton at that time had huge ties with us, might have been the St Als connection.

We loaned then wee ten thirty and Dunky Mackay while John Coronation Bonnar spent a season with them after leaving us and oul Sean ended up manager there as well, Alec Rollo also played that night for the Rock.

My da came fae that part of Dumbarton where Boagheid is situated and his family were well known among the Irish community there so he might have obtained them for us.

Anyway that night was the Charles Patrick show, the Tims, and there are many in the town, were in full voice and he duly entertained them.

The scorer of Dumbarton’s 2 goals, Hughie Gallagher a prolific goal scorer, was the brother of the Renton born unofficial world flyweight champion.

Incidentally we had a promising youngster, Dubliner Vince Ryan, playing for us that night; we signed him from Home farm beating out Sir Matt who then signed Liam Whelan who lost his life at Munich.
